Welcome to the "New America"

San Diego County is getting soaked plenty by the costs of illegal immigration, according to a recent report.
Direct expenditures by the county of San Diego in the 2006-07 fiscal year on behalf of illegal immigrants totaled $101.5 million, according to a report presented Tuesday to the Board of Supervisors.
Nearly half of that sum - $48.5 million - was spent by the Sheriff's Department to house inmates in area jails, according to the report by John Weeks, a San Diego State University professor and director of the school's International Population Center.
For those jail costs, the county was reimbursed $2.3 million by the federal government, according to the report. The North County Times toted up more of the costs, including medical care, and came up with figure of a quarter billion dollars annually:
As Brian Bilbray remarked on Lou Dobbs, "You can buy a lot of lettuce" with that kind of money.
The county figures obviously do not include the costs of educating the children of illegal alien foreigners, which goes on the state tab.
State Lawmakers Produce List Of Crimes By Illegal Immigrants [9/27/07]
You can learn a lot by making a list. Several Pennsylvania state legislators made one of crimes committed by illegal aliens there.
In a blazing indictment of America's failed immigration policy, a report issued by Pennsylvania State Reps. Daryl Metcalfe (R-Butler), Tom Creighton (R-Lancaster), Mark Mustio (R-Allegheny) and Scott Perry (R-York/Cumberland) chronicles 120 individual incidents of crime against Pennsylvania citizens at the hands of illegal immigrants. [...] "The more than 3,100 illegal aliens documented in this report include first-degree, black-hearted murderers, addictive drug dealers, cop-killing gang members, child molesting sexual predators and terrorists in waiting who deserve swift and immediate prosecution, punishment up to and including the death penalty and at the very least deportation, rather than the dignity and respect of being called immigrants," Mr. Metcalfe exclaimed.

Demography is relentless and unforgiving, as everyone from Mexifornia to Eurabia should know by now.
In less than a century, America will no longer be a majority-white nation, David Coleman, professor of Demography at Oxford University, explained Tuesday at a Hudson Institute forum. A decline in U.S. fertility rates, in combination with increased immigration, will change the ethnic makeup of America, Mr. Coleman said.
This transition is affecting many other countries, Mr. Coleman said. Throughout Western Europe, populations are being inundated by new immigrant populations, he said. The native-born British, Scottish and Irish populations are also becoming minorities in the United Kingdom, he said.
In the early 1990s, the United States was the first country to identify an ethnic transformation; however, this transformation has not received much attention. Statistical data presented at the Hudson forum suggested that most non-Hispanic whites will become racially intermixed with other ethnicities by 2100.
You can listen to the talk at the Hudson Institute.
Any responsible government would have cut out the immigration of possible terrorists immediately after 9/11. Yet the idiotic diversity visa program has cruised along on automatic pilot, despite efforts to end it and has brought in thousands of persons who should be considered undesirable from a national security viewpoint.
Nearly 10,000 people from countries designated as sponsors of terrorism have entered the United States under an immigration diversity program with relatively few restrictions, a report released on Friday said.
The report by the U.S. Government Accountability Office said the State Department's inspector general warned in 2003 that the Diversity Visa Program posed a significant risk to national security and recommended it be closed to people from countries on the U.S. list of state terrorism sponsors.
But four years later, the program remains open to people from those nations and little is known about what becomes of them once they enter the United States, the GAO said.
From 2000 to 2006, the program allowed 3,703 people from Sudan, 3,164 from Iran, 2,763 from Cuba and 162 from Syria to enter the United States and apply for permanent legal resident status, the report said. That totals 9,792 new immigrants. I made similar points about national security in a 2006 blog item Diversity Is Alive and Well at the State Department and in a 2004 article, Time to Dump the Diversity Visa.

We are a nation at war with islamofascists. Yet the President refuses to name the enemy and now regularly celebrates Ramadan in the White House. Franklin Roosevelt did not "reach out" to foreigners from Axis countries residing in this country; he ordered the internment of over 31,000 suspected enemy aliens from Germany, Italy and Japan. Bush's opposition to any sort of immigration enforcement (including diversity visas) is part of his disinterest in pursuing genuine national security.

Terrorist privacy rights caused 10 hour delay in hunt for kidnapped troops in Iraq
Democrats are Killing our Boys
This is what America voted in last November. Shame on all of us.
hat tip: Larwyn
Last May, Iraqi terrorists kidnapped three American soldiers.
American intelligence officials searched for cyber-signals about the kidnapping... and actually found them. They found the kidnappers talking to each other on-line.
However, they had to stop listening because the signals were passing through an American-based server and under the law that meant there could be no eavesdropping without a warrant.
So they stopped listening in on foreign terrorists holding kidnapped American soldiers.
For ten hours, officials worked to get "emergency authorization" to resume eavesdropping.
U.S. authorities racing to find three kidnapped American soldiers in Iraq last May labored for nearly 10 hours to get legal authority for wiretaps to help in the hunt, an intelligence official told Congress on Thursday.
The top U.S. spy agency, the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, sent Congress a timeline detailing the wiretap effort as the Bush administration makes its case to wary Democrats for a permanent expansion of its authority to eavesdrop on the foreign communications of terrorism suspects.
"In order to comply with the law, the government was required to spend valuable time obtaining an emergency authorization ... to engage in collection related to the kidnapping," Ronald Burgess, principle deputy director to McConnell, said in a letter to U.S. Rep. Silvestre Reyes.
Reyes, a Texas Democrat, is chairman of the House of Representatives intelligence committee.Director of National Intelligence Michael McConnell has been under fire from some Democrats in control of Congress who say misstatements have eroded his credibility. Some Democrats and civil liberties advocates say a temporary expansion of the eavesdropping authority passed in August threatens the rights of Americans and any permanent law needs more protections.
This is just what the Democrats want or worse. It demonstrates how ridiculous their terrorist privacy rights jihad is. Don't expect them to take responsibility for any of the delay though. Being a Democrats means never having to take responsibility for the consequences of their misguided policies.

A Plague of Political Correctness

A quote from Cal Thomas in The Daily Journal, 25 September 2007
Britons give many reasons for leaving, but their stories share one commonality: life in Britain has become unbearable. They fear lawlessness and the threat of more terrorism from a growing Muslim population and the loss of a sense of Britishness, exacerbated by the growing refusal of public schools to teach the history and culture of the nation. What it means to be British has been watered down in a plague of political correctness. […]

A quote from Bruce Thornton at, 26 September 2007
Across Europe the left has found in Islam a convenient ally, since both hate the core political goods of the West, liberal democracy and free-market economies, and both hate Christianity – the same mayor of Brussels who silenced European Christians greeted the death of Pope John Paul II with a call for champagne. Al Qaeda understands this Western self-hatred, which is why bin Laden speaks to us about economic oppression, colonialism, even environmentalism, issues about which he cares nothing but which create common cause with the anti-Western left.

The British anomaly: The attempt to abolish England
From the desk of Paul Belien on Wed, 2007-09-26 08:35
Ever heard of the West Lothian Question? West Lothian is the Scottish region immediately to the west of Edinburgh. The question is so called because it was first posed by Tam Dalyell, a Labor member of the British Parliament for West Lothian. Mr. Dalyell wondered how long the English would tolerate the situation in which Scottish members of the British Parliament, such as himself, have a (sometimes decisive) say about issues affecting only England, while English parliamentarians have no say about the same matters in Scotland.

Quote of the Day

“The doctrine of jihad - violence in the path of Allah with the objective of converting, killing, or else subjugating and taxing the “infidel” - was Muhammad's most significant original contribution to world history. It defined Islam in its earliest days… it continues to define the mindset of Islam to this day.”

Ben Stein's Confession

I found this at
Excellent post by "Classic Woman"
The following was written by Ben Stein and recited by him on CBS Sunday Morning Commentary.
Date: Thu, 23 Aug 2007
My confession: I am a Jew, and every single one of my ancestors was Jewish. And it does not bother me even a little bit when people call those beautiful lit up, bejeweled trees Christmas trees. I don't feel threatened. I don't feel discriminated against. That's what they are: Christmas trees.
It doesn't bother me a bit when people say, "Merry Christmas" to me. I don't think they are slighting me or getting ready to put me in a ghetto. In fact, I kind of like it. It shows that we are all brothers and sisters celebrating this happy time of year. It doesn't bother me at all that there is a manger scene on display at a key intersection near my beach house in Malibu. If people want a church, it's just as fine with me as is the Menorah a few hundred yards away.
I don't like getting pushed around for being a Jew, and I don't think Christians like getting pushed around for being Christians. I think people who believe in God are sick and tired of getting pushed around, period. I have no idea where the concept came from that America is an explicitly atheist country. I can't find it in the Constitution and I don't like it being shoved down my throat.
Or maybe I can put it another way: where did the idea come from that we should worship Nick and Jessica and we aren't allowed to worship God as we understand Him? I guess that's a sign that I'm getting old, too. But there are a lot of us who are wondering where Nick and Jessica came from and where the America we knew went to.
In light of the many jokes we send to one another for a laugh, this is a little different: This is not intended to be a joke; it's not funny, it's intended to get you thinking.
Billy Graham's daughter was interviewed on the Early Show and Jane Clayson asked her "How could God let something like this happen?" (regarding Katrina) Anne Graham gave an extremely profound and insightful response.
She said, "I believe God is deeply saddened by this, just as we are, but for years we've been telling God to get out of our schools, to get out of our government and to get out of our lives. And being the gentleman He is, I believe He has calmly backed out. How can we expect God to give us His blessing and His protection if we demand He leave us alone?"
In light of recent events...terrorists attack, school shootings, etc. I think it started when Madeleine Murray O'Hare (she was murdered, her body found recently) complained she didn't want prayer in our schools, and we said OK.
Then someone said you better not read the Bible in school. The Bible says thou shalt not kill, thou shalt not steal, and love your neighbor as yourself. And we said OK.
Then Dr. Benjamin Spock said we shouldn't spank our children when they misbehave because their little personalities would be warped and we might damage their self-esteem (Dr. Spock's son committed suicide). We said an expert should know what he's talking about. And we said OK.
Now we're asking ourselves why our children have no conscience, why they don't know right from wrong, and why it doesn't bother them to kill strangers, their classmates, and themselves.
Probably, if we think about it long and hard enough, we can figure it out. I think it has a great deal to do with "WE REAP WHAT WE SOW."
Funny how simple it is for people to trash God and then wonder why the world's going to hell. Funny how we believe what the newspapers say, but question what the Bible says. Funny how you can send 'jokes' through e-mail and they spread like wildfire but when you start sending messages regarding the Lord, people think twice about sharing. Funny how lewd, crude, vulgar and obscene articles pass freely through cyberspace, but public discussion of God is suppressed in the school and workplace.
Are you laughing?
Funny how when you forward this message, you will not send it to many on your address list because you're not sure what they believe, or what they will think of you for sending it.
Funny how we can be more worried about what other people think of us than what God thinks of us.
Pass it on if you think it has merit. If not then just discard it... no one will know you did. But, if you discard this thought process, don't sit back and complain about what bad shape the world is in. My Best Regards.

Honestly and respectfully,
Ben Stein

Illinois Schools Canceling Christmas and Halloween to Avoid Offending Muslims

They've already changed the lunch menu to exclude items containing pork to accommodate Muslim students.
Pretty much everything about Muslims and Islam offends jillosophy.
Let's ban them.
I hereby pledge to do all I can to offend Muslims
any time, any place, any way I can.
Fri, Sep 28, 2007 at 7:00:53 pm PST
Another absolutely disgusting example of pre-emptive dhimmitude, in the name of tolerance and multiculturalism, right here in the US:
First Jell-O, now Santa.

So long, Halloween parade. Farewell, Santa’s gift shop.
The holiday traditions are facing elimination in some Oak Lawn schools this year after complaints that the activities are offensive, particularly to Muslim students.
Final decisions on which of the festivities will be axed will fall to the principals at each of Ridgeland School District 122’s five schools, Supt. Tom Smyth said.
Parents expect that the announcement is going to add to the tension that has been building since officials agreed earlier this month to change the lunch menu to exclude items containing pork to accommodate Muslim students. News that Jell-O was struck from the menu caused such a stir that officials have agreed to bring it back. Gelatin is often made with tissue or bones of pigs or other animals.
That controversy now appears to have been been dwarfed by the holiday debate, which became so acrimonious Wednesday that police were called to Columbus Manor School to intervene in a shouting match among parents.
“It’s difficult when you change the school’s culture,” said Columbus Manor Principal Sandy Robertson...

Friday Night Meltdown #3

Was he a Muslim? Uh, nope... He had a brain...

Muslims? Doubt it...

This man was NOT a Muslim... But I think he has a message for them...

Uh, I don't think... no, they're not Muslims either...
Don't let the beards fool you...
Don't make me laugh...

Not even in a million lifetimes...

She's not a Muslim! She's a Witch! Kill her!

She can't possibly be a Muslima...

It's safe to say that she's not a Muslim..

And he can't be a Muslim either... I know 'cause that's not a camel!

And HE can't be aMuslim... I know 'cause that's not a camel!

Well, okay... they just might be Muslims...

Which one's gonna be the camel?

DANGER: Mexican Political Convention—Coming To LA

"There was a time, not long ago, when the Mexican government preferred not to mention nor even to acknowledge the existence of American citizens of Mexican ancestry. Was their existence not evidence that Mexican revolutionary nationalism had failed—the fact that some Mexicans were voting with their feet for the United States?
“However, in the waning years of the PRI, (the party that controlled Mexico throughout most of the twentieth century) this orientation began to change. The pochos or chicanos (slang terms for Mexican-Americans) in the United States began to be viewed not as an embarrassment or a sign of Mexico’s economic failure, but as an opportunity –– an opportunity for the Mexican government
to gain influence in the United States over migration policy, and thus keep the gates open for continued emigration."
Memo From Mexico
During this exciting and unpredictable political season, there is a political convention scheduled for September 30th, in Los Angeles, California.
It’s not the Democratic Party, nor the Republican Party. Nor is it the Libertarian Party, the Green Party or the Constitution Party. It’s not even the Labor Party, the Marijuana Party or the Socialist Alternative Party.
No, the party holding its convention on that date is the PAN—the Partido Acción Nacional, the National Action Party of…Mexico. (It’s the party of Felipe Calderon and Vicente Fox).
Now this is not an ordinary PAN convention, as they would hold here in Mexico. No, this is a convention specifically designed for Mexican PANistas living in the U.S.A.—some of whom are American citizens!
What’s going on here?
What’s going on is that the political worlds of the U.S. and Mexico are becoming more and more intertwined. Without debate, the U.S is marrying Mexico—or, perhaps more accurately, Mexico is marrying us. With the growth of dual citizenship, and our failure to plug our anchor baby loophole, we can expect more and more of this...

Queer Eye for the Terrorist Guy

I just love
Allegations fly in Fatah-Hamas conflict
Sep 27, 2007
The Hamas-Fatah power struggle has descended into the gutter over the past few days, with both parties trading allegations about the involvement of their members in homosexual relations and adultery.
The alleged "sex scandals" are said to have occurred in the Gaza Strip, which fell into
Hamas's hands in June.
Shortly after the Islamist movement wrested control of the Strip, Hamas officials began talking about "embarrassing" and "damning" documents and films that were seized inside Palestinian Authority security headquarters formerly controlled by
According to the officials, the Fatah men had been spying on several senior PA officials, some of whom were caught on tape having homosexual intercourse.
A DVD distributed among a limited number of Hamas representatives features a former PA official having sex with another man. The disc, according to a Palestinian journalist in Gaza City, is being sold on the black market for NIS 20.
Hamas says the PA's Preventive Security Force played a major role in collecting the evidence against the senior PA officials. In some cases, Hamas said, the documents and tapes were used to extort large sums of money from the PA officials.
Two documents that were allegedly seized inside Preventative Security Force headquarters provide insight into the method used to collect information about the sexual conduct of the top officials.
According to one document, entitled "A Large Number of Homosexuals," a number of wealthy and influential figures in
the Gaza Strip had formed a "gang" for practicing homosexual intercourse.
"Some of them were summoned for questioning and they admitted to having sexual intercourse with boys and adult males," the document, dated May 12, 2005, stated.
"Some of them had individual sex, while others preferred group sex. Some of them paid money for sex, while others performed sexual intercourse with males in front of their wives."
The sex allegedly took place in hotels, clinics and private homes - in some cases with a picture of Yasser Arafat hanging overhead.
The document described the homosexuals as a "very dangerous group" and warned that the phenomenon might spread to other parts of the Gaza Strip, adding that rival political factions could exploit the case to defame Fatah and "create chaos and confusion."
The second document is a follow-up to the first.
Entitled "Results of Questioning," it names four homosexuals who allegedly had sexual relations with senior Fatah officials in the Strip.
The four supposedly blackmailed the officials after filming them during sexual intercourse. "Since we are talking about top Fatah figures, there is a need to summon them and talk to them," the document, dated May 19, 2005, concluded.
A Hamas official in the Gaza Strip said the documents were the "tip of the iceberg" and that his movement was planning to reveal more evidence about Fatah's "moral corruption."
The official said Hamas had already posted a short video on the YouTube Web site showing used condoms that were found inside the offices of senior Fatah security commanders and political figures.
Another Hamas official said his men had uncovered three brothels that had been frequented by top Fatah officials in the Gaza Strip.
Fatah officials in Ramallah refused to comment on the latest allegations. However, they stressed that it was not hard to forge such documents since Hamas was now in control of the security headquarters and of all the archives and files inside the buildings.
But a respected Palestinian journalist in Gaza City who examined the two documents said there was no reason to doubt their authenticity.
In a bid to counter the Hamas campaign, Fatah members have published details about "sex scandals" involving Hamas activists.
According to Fatah, a Hamas imam was recently caught having sex with a male minor in a mosque basement.
In another incident, according to Fatah, a senior member of Hamas's armed wing, Izaddin Kassam, was expelled from his refugee camp after he was caught having sex with a male colleague in a vehicle. And according to a report on a Fatah-controlled Web site, a Hamas man was caught naked together with his neighbor's wife in her bedroom.
"These Hamas people are very immoral and corrupt," said a senior Fatah official. "They use Islam as a cover-up for their crimes. But our people know very well who they are dealing with. We have a lot of information about the moral corruption of many Hamas officials and we will make them public at the right time."

Iran Strengthens South America Ties

Ahmadinejad Cements Ties With Venezuela President Chavez, Declares
'No One Can Defeat Us'

The Associated Press Thursday, September 27, 2007; 2:43 PM
LA PAZ, Bolivia -- Vilified by world leaders wary of his nuclear ambitions, Iran's president arrived in Bolivia on Thursday to strengthen ties with South American leftists who are embracing him as an energy and trade partner and counterweight to U.S. influence.
President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad arrived in the Amazon region city of Santa Cruz, then shifted to a Venezuelan government jet and flew to the capital of La Paz to establish first-time diplomatic relations with the Andean nation.
The visit comes on the heels of a U.N. General Assembly appearance in which Ahmadinejad said Iran will ignore demands by "arrogant powers" to curb its nuclear program.
Morales, a strident leftist, joins Venezuela's Hugo Chavez as one of Iran's allies. He called the visit a historic event, saying the two nations "will work together from this day on, for our people, for life and for humanity."
Ahmadinejad called Morales his "dear brother" and said his trip will be "the start of deep relations between both governments."
Ahmadinejad and Morales were expected to sign accords that Bolivian officials say could help them better tap the continent's second-largest natural gas reserves after Venezuela's and drum up urgently needed agricultural investment.
Ahmadinejad then heads to Caracas to meet Venezuelan leader Hugo Chavez, who has defended Iran's claims that its nuclear program is for peaceful energy purposes.
Ahmadinejad's trip south underscores his strengthening links to Latin American nations that also include Nicaragua and Ecuador even as the United States tries to isolate him internationally.
"It's a connection that is growing stronger all the time," said Alberto Garrido, a Venezuelan writer and political analyst. "It's Iran's answer to the United States on its own home turf. The United States is in the Middle East, so Iran is in Latin America."

Duncan Hunter

Listen to what he has to say about the security of our country.
He's my pick for President:
Fighting the War On Terror
“Our success in protecting America from terrorists is completely dependant upon our ability to obtain and utilize reliable intelligence data. Our national intelligence and defense communities must be provided with the tools necessary to identify, track, stop and prosecute terrorists before they have the opportunity to strike. The fact that America has not been attacked since September 11th indicates to me that we are on the right course. I am confident we can remain on that course by providing our intelligence agencies with the resources they need while, at the same time, maintaining our commitment to the continued protection of our civil rights.”
Providing for Border Enforcement
"The cornerstone of our responsibilities as elected officials is to defend and protect the American people. This was reinforced with the attacks of September 11th, which immediately made border security a national security issue. Protecting our homeland begins at our nation’s borders and it is imperative that our border enforcement agencies be provided with the necessary resources to ensure that we know both who and what are entering the country. I believe in providing Border Patrol and Immigration and Customs Enforcement corps with sufficient strength to secure our borders and providing for interior enforcement throughout the country because it is imperative in our fight to protect Americans. To not do so can only be characterized as irresponsible."
“When you discover an effective deterrent to crime, you use it. I know fencing helps secure our nation’s borders because criminal activity in every statistical category has been eliminated or decreased since we built the border fence in San Diego County. What was once a porous border, susceptible to illegal aliens, drug trafficking and terrorism, is now the standard mode in preventing drug smugglers from bringing narcotics into our neighborhoods and allowing border enforcement personnel to reinforce areas of greater need. These results led me to write the Secure Fence Act, extending the San Diego fence 854 miles across California, Arizona, New Mexico and Texas. Building fences in strategic locations along our international borders is a proven method of keeping America safe and, despite recent attempts to undo the Congressional mandated funding provided for this effort, I am committed to this effort and confident the fence will be built.”
Keeping American Industry and Jobs in the U.S.
“American workers are the most productive and innovative labor force in the world. Unfortunately, they are asked to compete in an unfair environment against other workers who make only a fraction of a living wage and are employed by companies that face few, if any, responsibilities to the environment or the long-term prospects of their employees. Our domestic manufacturers are forced to compete against foreign companies that benefit from their country’s currency and regulatory regimes. Ominously, China is cheating on trade and using billions of American trade dollars to build ships, planes and missiles at an alarming rate while, at the same time, taking millions of American jobs. I will reverse this “one-way street” with a new policy of fair trade for the American worker."

Oh, Rosie! Terrorists invite her to Mideast

'We would welcome her to stay among us and know the truth'
September 26, 2007
Muslim jihadist leaders interviewed for a new book were ecstatic about statements from television talk host Rosie O'Donnell about the war in Iraq and the global war on terror, agreeing with her outspoken views.
Some even invited her on a "fact finding mission" to the Middle East.
"I agree with what this O'Donnell says...We welcome Rosie O'Donnell to stay among us and to get to know the truth from being here, like many American peace activists are doing," said Ala Senakreh, West Bank chief of the Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigades terrorist organization.
Senakreh and other terror leaders were quoted sounding off about O'Donnell in the new book "Schmoozing with Terrorists: From Hollywood to the Holy Land Jihadists Reveal their Global Plans – to a Jew!," by author and WND Jerusalem bureau chief Aaron Klein.
For one of the chapters of the book, Klein assembles a panoply of senior terrorist leaders and asks them to sound off about the views of high-profile liberals and conservatives.
Klein informed the terrorists leaders about one instance when O'Donnell argued on "The View" that suspected terrorists jailed at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, are people too and asserted the U.S. "robs them of their humanity."
"They've been treating them like animals … they have hoods over their heads, they torture them on a daily basis," O'Donnell said on air.
"Faith or fear, that's your choice," she said. "You can walk through life believing in the goodness of the world, or walk through life afraid of anyone who thinks different than you and trying to convert them to your way of thinking."
"Don't fear the terrorists. They're mothers and fathers," stated O’Donnell.
Klein informed the terrorists of questions raised by O'Donnell in March 2007, when transcripts were released in which captured alleged 9/11 mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammed confessed to the mega-terror attacks and 31 other plots and attacks. "I was responsible for the 9/11 operation from A to Z," Mohammed said in a statement. He also took credit for personally beheading Wall Street Journal reporter Daniel Pearl and for planning multiple other attacks since the early 1990s.
On "The View," O'Donnell suggested the U.S. government elicited a false confession from the alleged terror mastermind.
Pointing out Mohammed was arrested in March 2003, O'Donnell asked, "Why hasn't he admitted it until now?"
"They didn't allow reporters there and he hasn't had a lawyer," O'Donnell stated on air, insinuating Mohammed's confession was coerced with no accountability...

State Reacts to Bush Neglect of Border
Lou Dobbs Tonight -- CNN -- September 26
Sylvester: In March, illegal alien Alfredo Ramos was driving under the influence in Virginia Beach. He killed two teenage girls. It was not his first DUI conviction.
Now the Virginia Crime Commission Illegal Immigration Task Force has proposed building the first-of-its kind state jail. It would be used to house up to 1,000 illegal aliens while they are awaiting deportation for crimes like DUI and domestic violence. Currently, many criminal illegal aliens are released on the streets after posting bail. Virginia lawmakers say they have to act because the federal government has not. [...]
Gov. Tom Kaine, (D-VA): I mean, it's an outrage that the federal government has basically had a consensus that the existing immigration laws don't work, but they won't enforce them, and they won't come up with a new set of laws that they're willing to enforce.

Muslim Appointee To Va. Immigration Panel Resigns

Kaine Looking Into Videos
UPDATED: 3:02 pm EDT September 27, 2007

RICHMOND, Va. -- A man shown denouncing Israel and praising "the jihad way" resigned Thursday from the Virginia state Commission on Immigration.
Muslim American Society president Dr. Esam Omeish was appointed to the commission by Gov. Tim Kaine.
In a video that appears on YouTube, Omeish is shown at a rally in Washington last year denouncing the invasion of Lebanon during that time by what he calls the "Israeli war machine." Omeish, a surgeon at INOVA Alexandria Hospital, also accused Israel of genocide and massacres against Palestinians and said the "Israeli agenda" controls Congress.
In a separate, undated video, Omeish tells a crowd of Washington-area Muslims, "The jihad way is the way to liberate your land."
A caller to Kaine's radio program Thursday on the Virginia News Network asked the governor about the Omeish appointment and the video.
Kaine said in a statement that he's concerned about Omeish's statements. The governor said Omeish did not want the controversy to distract from the work of the Commission.

Sally Field Doesn't Speak for Me

I know this column is about 10 days old, but it's so good I have to post it now.
I have been so preoccupied over the past week that I have not been blogging much, so I have to catch up!

Like actress Sally Field, I am a mom. Unlike Sally Field, I do not live in La-La Land. We breathe a different brand of oxygen. We hold diametrically opposed worldviews. We have nothing in common but stretch marks.
Contrary to tongue-tied Sally's incoherent Primetime Emmy Awards diatribe, childbearing and childrearing experiences do not bond all women in a universal sorority of non-confrontation. There are sheep moms. There are lion moms. We know which kind Sally Field is.
"If mothers ruled the, ruled the world, there would be no god-damned wars in the first place," Field bleated. In the Gidget Guide to Parenting, mothers are appeasers and hand-holders. Our maternal instincts supposedly lead us to shun fights and coddle bullies instead of disciplining them.
There would be "no god-damned wars," Silly Sally, because we'd all be conquered chattel if Field Diplomacy "ruled the world."
Motherhood and peace-making are not synonymous. Motherhood requires ferocity, the will and resolve to protect one's own children at all costs, and a life-long commitment to sacrifice for a family's betterment and survival. Conflict avoidance is incompatible with good mothering.
On the playground of life, Sally Field is the mom who looks the other way when the brat on the elementary school slide pushes your son to the ground or throws dirt in your daughter's face.
She's the mom who holds her tongue at the mall when thugs spew profanities and make crude gestures in front of her brood. She's the mom who tells her child never to point out when a teacher gets her facts wrong.
She's the mom who buys her teenager beer, condoms and a hotel room on prom night, because she'd rather give in than assert her parental authority and do battle.
She's the mom whose minivan sports insipid bumper stickers preaching non-intervention at all costs: "Peace is patriotic." "War is not the answer." "It Will Be a Great Day When Our Schools Get All the Money They Need and the Air Force Has to Hold a Bake Sale to Buy a Bomber."
Hollywood can afford to indulge Sally Field's inarticulate naivete. America cannot. And the very moms that Sally Field claims to speak for know it.
This weekend, I met dozens of military mothers in Washington, D.C., who fervently oppose the Sally Field/Cindy Sheehan model of maternal submission and immediate surrender. They were among several thousand grass-roots activists who turned out for the "Gathering of Eagles" counter-demonstration on the National Mall.
Deborah Johns, mother of William, a Marine who has served three tours of duty in Iraq, condemned the Left's demonization of Gen. David Petraeus and urged Congress to oppose a precipitous withdrawal from Iraq. "Cindy Sheehan doesn't speak for me," Johns said. "She has never spoken for me. And she will never speak for me. . . . We are not going to let the domestic enemies at home defeat us like they did" during the Vietnam War.
Debbie Lee, mother of Mark, the first Navy SEAL killed in Iraq, rejected the anti-war movement's infantilization of the troops. She was galled at the George Soros-funded ANSWER "die-in" usurping the names and legacies of those who have died serving in Iraq. Describing her son's heroism and her support of the counterinsurgency efforts in Iraq, she said: "You can't 'take' someone's life who gives it . . . and Mark willingly gave his life. . . . God redeployed Mark to heaven."
In Sally World, these mothers and their sons are helpless victims. In Sally World, self-defense is for "war-mongers." In Sally World, you can pretend that the bloodthirsty mothers who strap al Qaeda suicide bomb vests on their toddlers and sit them down in front of the television to watch the Jew-hating Hamas Mickey Mouse don't exist. In Sally World, you need only to embrace our enemies, "imagine" peace and rub your Emmy Award like a magic lamp as you wish global jihad away.
In the real world, not all women think with their wombs instead of their brains. In the real world, you can't just give evil a "time-out." Sally Field fancies herself the mother of all spokesmothers. To which I say, in my most maternally combative tone: Speak for your own bleepin' self, sister.

This will both chill your blood and boil it at the same time.

NY: Gun-toting Immigrant "Student" Arrested

An e-mail dated June 21 indicates that Hiraman contacted New York City attorney Michael Paul about protocols a gun dealer must follow when selling a gun.
Alleged Gunman Undergoes Psychiatric Evaluations
St. John's Students Go Back To Class

NEW YORK -- A day after allegedly marching onto the St. John's University Queens campus with a rifle and a mask, a freshman was undergoing psychiatric evaluations to determine if he's competent to be arraigned.
Officials said Omesh Hiraman, 22, is a paranoid schizophrenic. Sources said Hiraman was wearing the mask to hide from who -- in his own mind -- is trying to "hurt him, who is giving him the pain."
Meanwhile, students at St. John's headed back to class on Thursday.
St. John's Alleged Gunman Arrested
Hiraman was arrested on a misdemeanor charge of criminal possession of a loaded weapon, police said early Thursday.
Hiraman was wearing a rubber Halloween-type mask that had the lower part cut off. NYPD officials and witnesses first said it appeared to be a George Bush mask, but the suspect's lawyer later said it was actually Fred Flintstone.
Less than 20 minutes after he was spotted, students across the university's Queens campus were notified and told to stay indoors as officials searched for possible additional suspects.
No other suspects were found, no injuries were reported, and students and officials praised a new emergency response system that quickly dispatched e-mails, text message and telephone alerts about the incident.
Hiraman's father called the incident "a misunderstanding," and Hiraman's lawyer, Anthony Colleluori, told the New York Post his client was "tired, he's confused, and he's scared."
An e-mail dated June 21 indicates that Hiraman contacted New York City attorney Michael Paul about protocols a gun dealer must follow when selling a gun.
"In East Fishkill Dutchess County, New York what procedure does the gun shop owner follow when an individual is purchasing a rifle?" read the e-mail. "Do they have to notify the state, county or municipal government of the fact that the rifle was purchased and/or of the name of the purchaser."
The e-mail continued:
"Please do not contact the gun shop in this area for the answer to my question as I have already contacted them and they do not seem to be very helpful."
St. John's, a Catholic school of about 20,000, put its new emergency alert system in place after the April 16 shootings at Virginia Tech, where a student killed 32 people and himself.
The Blacksburg, Va.-based university's administration sent a mass e-mail to students about two hours after the first victims were shot in a dormitory. The e-mail, which warned students to be cautious and contact police about anything suspicious, went out about 20 minutes before the gunman opened fire again.
At St. John's, the suspect was first captured on security cameras entering the Queens campus at about 2:20 p.m. Five minutes later, public safety officials called 911.
Ten minutes later, he was apprehended by a student cadet and unarmed campus security officers. Eight minutes after that, students were notified of the incident.
"They were on it," Sophomore Irene Kontonicolaou, 19, who got a text message alert in a business law class, said of the law enforcement response. "They did a really good job."
Students and faculty members must sign up for the electronic alerts. Campus safety spokesman Thomas Lawrence said he didn't know how many have done so and hoped more would after Wednesday's incident.
Freshman Jeffrey Antoine did, signing up for the system from his laptop after the incident.
"Anything could happen," the 17-year-old said.
Police spokesman Paul Browne said it wasn't clear why Hiraman came to the campus carrying a .50-caliber, single-shot rifle.
The rifle was loaded with one bullet, police said.
Hiraman's father, Pat Hiraman, said his son had been acting differently and was under heavy medication since having back surgery, but "would never harm anyone."
"Our son has always been a good boy and has never been in any sort of trouble," the father said. "We trust that this will be cleared up as quickly as possible."
Students, one of them a police cadet, first reported seeing an armed man at around 2:20 p.m., police said. He was carrying a plastic bag with the barrel of a .50-caliber rifle sticking out and was wearing the rubber mask, its mouth cut out, police said.
The cadet, Christopher Benson, later told reporters that he was sitting on a bench and speaking to his girlfriend on a cell phone when Hiraman walked quickly past him. He told his girlfriend he would call her back, saying, "A guy just walked past me with a gun. Let me check this out."
Benson, 21, began following Hiraman, and when unarmed campus security officers approached minutes later and tried to grab the gun, "I just jumped right in," he said. He and the officers subdued the man after a brief struggle, he said.
In a statement, police Commissioner Raymond Kelly praised Benson as "a very observant and courageous cadet."
Public safety officials conducted an extensive search of all school buildings and facilities, according to a school statement. Students were initially were told to stay inside their classrooms and buildings; they were allowed to go home around 5:30 p.m. Classes were canceled for the evening but were to resume Thursday.
Student Lina Rios was in the school's gym with about 100 other people. She said she was impressed with the university's response, which she said included updates about every 15 minutes inside the gym.
"We were all amazed how fast the cops were there and how fast everyone knew what was going on," she said.
The university president, the Rev. Donald J. Harrington, said he was "very relieved and very grateful" that no one was hurt.
St. John's has three residential campuses in the city. The Queens site is the school's main campus.
