Immigration Impact

Background of Two Mass Killers
Cho Seung-Hui, the killer who murdered 32 students and faculty members at Virginia Tech and wounded 29 others was, in the words of MSNBC (4/17/07), "a South Korean immigrant in the United States for 14 years . . . who held a green card signifying his status as a legal permanent U.S. resident."
Cho's rampage on April 16th, came two months after the massacre committed by another foreign national, Sulejmen Talovic. On February 12th, Talovic, a Muslim refugee from Bosnia, killed five people at Salt Lake City's Trolley Square shopping center and wounded four others.
Police Chief Chris Burbank said he would have shot many more if it had not been for the timely intervention of Ken Hammond, an off-duty police officer from Ogden, Utah...

A joke from Denmark:
It seems that little Ahmed had been studying very hard in his elementary school Danish language class, and when he took the exam, he got a perfect score.
The teacher made a big fuss over Ahmed when she presented him with his certificate.
“Congratulations, Ahmed!” she said. “You are now a Dane!”
Ahmed was so excited and happy and proud that he ran all the way home. Bursting into the house, he cried to his father, “Papa! Papa! Look: I got an A! Now I am a Dane!”
His father became very angry and slapped him across the face. “You filthy little boy! You have shamed our entire family!”Ahmed burst into tears.
“I don’t understand,” he wailed; “I was so proud! I will have to show my certificate to Mama.”
He found his mother in the kitchen. “Mama! Mama! Today I am a Dane!”
His mother scowled at him and slapped his face. “You should be ashamed of yourself! You have brought dishonor to your whole family!”Ahmed cried even harder.
“This is awful! Why is this happening to me? I have only been a Dane for twenty minutes, and already I have been attacked by two immigrants!”

NEW ORLEANS (AP) — A weeklong effort culminated with the arrest of 88 fugitives and illegal aliens_ including some with previous felony convictions, federal authorities said Monday.

I have never understood those who insist that only political conservatives want to stem the flow of illegal aliens into our country. I'm a registered Democrat and I certainly understand the basic need for our nation to gain control over its borders and create an immigration system that possesses true integrity.

Las Vegas Review-Journal
Hardesty said there are many changes and actions that can be taken to reach this target, including the deportation of inmates who are illegal [aliens... criminals]. The Pardons Board is currently moving ahead with the deportation of as many as 500 such inmates.

Center for Immigration Studies
The argument is often made that immigrants have a stronger commitment to traditional family values than do native-born Americans. However, birth records show that about one-third of births to both groups are now to unmarried parents. Moreover, unmarried immigrants are significantly more likely than unmarried natives to give birth.

They talk about Seung-hui Cho being Korean, although he lived here for 15 years with a green card but never about the risk factors for men 35 and over to have an offspring with autism/schizophrenia. Seung-hui's father was 38 or 39, well into the high risk zone. There may have been a family history of older fathers and autoimmune disorders. We can never mention the risk factors because of the profits the pharmaceutical/psychiatric industry makes from the burgeoning numbers of schizophrenics, etc. Anyway enough ranting.
