Minneapolis Airport May Defy Fatwa

Yep, you read that right - a fatwa. Issued in America, to an American airport.
Officials at Minneapolis-St. Paul International airport have decided they want to vote to ignore a fatwa they received last year:
Last year, the airports commission received a fatwa, or religious edict, from the Minnesota chapter of the Muslim American Society. The fatwa said “Islamic jurisprudence” prohibits taxi drivers from carrying passengers with alcohol, “because it involves cooperating in sin according to Islam.”

So, the airport has been allowing Muslim cabbies, a majority of their taxi drivers, to refuse customers carrying alcohol or dogs for the past year...

Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport officials say too many cabdrivers are refusing to carry airport travelers, apparently due to religious beliefs.
So during a Wednesday meeting of the Metropolitan Airports Commission's management and operations committee, officials suggested a heavy-fisted solution — drivers who refused such fares would have their airport licenses suspended...
