The American Council for Immigration Reform hosted a briefing on the security crisis that threatens our nation if amnesty and guest worker elements of Senate Immigration Reform Bill 1348 ever become law. [Although this bill failed, its individual elements will likely be raised again in other legislation.]
This charge was made and substantiated by four immigration experts at the National Press Club during a briefing hosted by ANCIR and moderated by the organization's legislative director, Bill Buchanan. All four experts are deeply familiar with the operations of the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) office, which is responsible for processing applications for legal permanent residency, citizenship, and evaluating supporting documents.
And all maintain that the institutional problems within the USCIS office are so pervasive and so serious that the agency could never implement the Senate bill without fully compromising this nation’s security.
