Security at Orlando International Airport at issue over arrests of airline employees
Case underscores security gaps at airports
Case underscores security gaps at airports
Federal investigation into the exploitation of security privileges by Delta customer service employees for smuggling purposes at the Orlando International Airport netted more arrests this week. Cousins Jeffrey Lorenzano Cruz and Joel Eliut Matos Cruz, both of Orange County, Florida were arrested Thursday in an intensifying probe of drug dealing and gunrunning and are currently being held without bail. Their arrests were the result of a federal sting operation where they were prepared to sell 2.2 pounds of cocaine, 1 1/2 ounces of heroin and a .40-caliber Taurus handgun with a silencer to an undercover agent. Both men were arrested following the apprehension of Zabdiel Santiago-Balaguer, 22, of Kissimmee, who was an employee of Delta Airlines. Santiago-Balaguer was fired from the airline.
Zabdiel Santiago-Balaguer used his knowledge of airport security and his access to secured areas within the Orlando International Airport to circumvent security and smuggle weapons and drugs through the airport. Based on his access to otherwise secure areas through his employee badge, he was able to evade TSA checkpoints and screenings. Thomas Anthony Munoz, 22, also an airline employee, was arrested on Monday.
This case underscores the current lapses in airport security. Authorities indicate that more arrests are likely.

Americans, take note of the ornate and beautifully appointed mosques and Islamic centers that are being built all across our beloved country, serving as tangible examples of the freedom of religion afforded by the laws established by our forefathers. Countless men and women serving our country have died to preserve this and other valuable freedoms offered by life in the United States. You will not find the same freedoms afforded to Christian churches or Jewish synagogues in countries like Saudi Arabia, where it is against the law to bring a Bible or other Christian religious symbol into that country.
Welcome to Islamic Sharia law, a concept that representatives of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) would like to see implemented in the United States. This goal was made clear by the statements of Omar M. Ahmad, Chairman of CAIR in 1998 when he proclaimed that Islam isn't in America to be equal to any other faith but to become dominant. He added that the Qu’ran should be the highest authority in America, and Islam the only accepted religion on Earth.
