White House and Congress Are the Real Border Problem:
Gilchrist calls for national mobilization to fight amnesty
Orange County, CA, March 12, 2007 - Jim Gilchrist, founder and president of the Minuteman Project, stated today, "The administration lied about the fence, they are lying about their plans, and they are lying about the numbers."Gilchrist is calling for an all-out campaign to let Karl Rove, President Bush and the administration know that the American People are against amnesty and business as usual. He is informing members of the Minuteman Project and asking them to keep the White House comment line (202 456-1111), the e-mail accounts, and the fax machines overloaded and full to capacity.
"In the past few weeks, there has been a regular procession of lawmakers invited to the White House," reports Gilchrist. They are being pressured, he says, to accept the President's current version of "immigration reform" - amnesty.
"The President's men keep changing the description, but it's always the same: amnesty by some other name - anything to fool the American People, and push through their phony immigration reform."
"The only reform the American People want," says Gilchrist, "is to secure the borders, stop employers from hiring illegal aliens, let attrition work, reduce crime, and stop using the People's money to support a costly welfare industry that encourages illegal immigration."
Gilchrist points to the recent prosecution of two Border Patrol agents by federal prosecutor Johnny Sutton as an illustration of how the Bush administration fails to back the Border Patrol and makes border security a joke among illegal aliens."The administration lied about the fence, they are lying about their plans, and they are lying about the numbers." Citing Robert Rector of the Heritage Foundation, "Independent studies show that the number of illegal aliens in the U.S. is easily twice the government claim of twelve million." Gilchrist went on to note, "the lifetime net taxpayer subsidy for high school drop-outs among just the foreign workers already here will be approximately a trillion dollars."
Gilchrist called on all concerned Americans, to contact the White House opinion line at (202) 456-1111; and to call, e-mail, write or fax their Senators and Representatives.
(jillosophy will post info at bottom of this post)
"Letting our elected officials know that we expect our immigration laws to be enforced, our borders secured, and that an amnesty, by whatever name, must never be approved."
Gilchrist agrees with Kris Kobach, a law professor formerly with the Justice Department whose experience is in anti-terrorism. Kobach says that bringing illegal aliens out of the shadows would not guarantee, as the Administration claims, that we will then know who they really are. Instead, it would only mean that we know what false names they have given. Amnesty just makes it possible for illegal alien terrorists to travel easily back and forth to other countries to plan their acts of terror, he said.
Gilchrist adds, that one of the illegal aliens who benefited from the 1986 amnesty paid America back by plotting the first World Trade Center bombing.
"The terrorists who murdered Americans with hijacked airliners on 9/11 were illegal aliens, here on expired visas, and that," says Gilchrist, "is what drove me to start the Minuteman Project, and lead hundreds of thousands of volunteers and supporters from throughout the country to join me. I may be the Project's President, but they are the Minuteman Project - the ordinary folks President Bush called Vigilantes - and I know the White House will be hearing from them until we beat this disguised amnesty plan."
