WASHINGTON - Murders, robberies and other violent crimes reported in the United States jumped 3.7 percent in the first half of the year, continuing a troubling upswing that began in 2005, the FBI said Monday.
The FBI said law enforcement agencies reported that robberies soared by a startling 9.7 percent, followed by an increase in murders of 1.4 percent and aggravated assaults of 1.2 percent.
Last year, the number of violent crimes increased by 2.5 percent, the largest percentage gain in 15 years. The increase came after years of declines.
The U.S. Justice Department then announced that it would conduct a study of why the crime numbers are increasing, a study that has yet to be completed.
Department officials have cited as possible reasons a surge in gang-related violence, spreading use of the illegal drug methamphetamine and demographics, with children of the baby-boom generation entering the years when individuals are most likely to commit crimes.

I find it laughable, their attempt to lay part of the blame specifically on the children of the Baby Boomer generation, which ended in 1962 at the latest, while ignoring the fact that meth and gangs (as well as all kinds of crime) are imported from predominantly Latin and Hispanic countries... and that this all stems from mass illegal immigration. Since I was born in '62 and caught just the tail end of that generation, these would be MY children, who would be in or just graduated from, college by now. Children like those of my friends who I have seen grow up. And let me say, this is one of the most privilaged, pampered, protected, catered to and most liberal and mulitculturally-sensitive generations ever raised in this country. Give me a break. You want to see a spike in crime? Just wait until the kids of the 20+ million illegals get to be of crime-committing age - which, according to demographics, is quite young. (Check out youth crime statistics). You haven't seen ANYTHING yet. Wait until the NAU comes out of the shadows.
It will never be the same again... this country of ours, that is.
