The Only Issue This Election Day

There is only one issue in this election that will matter five or ten years from now, and that's the War on Terror.
And the success of the War on Terror now teeters on the fulcrum of this election.
If control of the House passes into Democratic hands, there are enough withdraw-on-a-timetable Democrats in positions of prominence that it will not only seem to be a victory for our enemies, it will be one.
Unfortunately, the opposite is not the case -- if the Republican Party remains in control of both houses of Congress there is no guarantee that the outcome of the present war will be favorable for us or anyone else.
But at least there will be a chance.
I say this as a Democrat, for whom the Republican domination of government threatens many values that I hold to be important to America's role as a light among nations.
But there are no values that matter to me that will not be gravely endangered if we lose this war. And since the Democratic Party seems hellbent on losing it -- and in the most damaging possible way -- I have no choice but to advocate that my party be kept from getting its hands on the reins of national power, until it proves itself once again to be capable of recognizing our core national interests instead of its own temporary partisan advantages...
...We cannot name this war for our actual enemies, either, because there is no way to name them accurately without including some form of the word "Islam" or "Muslim."
It is our enemies who want to identify this as a war between Islam and the West....
(They already do, and we cannot change them - and they already are united against us - and we'll never change that. /so-called "Moderate" Muslims are not pro-America or pro-Israel. They are satisfied to sit idly back and let the radicals do the dirty work.)
President Bush and his administration have shown their grasp of our present danger by stoutly resisting all attempts to rename this war. We call it a "War on Terror" because that allows us to cast it, not as a war against the Muslim people, with all their frustrations and hopes, but a war in which most Muslims are not our enemies at all.
That can be galling for many Americans. When, after the fall of the towers on 9/11, Palestinians and others poured into the streets, rejoicing, it was tempting to say, A plague on all of them!
(Without embracing the ugly truth - that Islam is at war with all that is not Muslim, and that every inch of this globe is their frontline - so that we can deal with it , we are essentially bringing a knife to a gunfight.)

Thought For The Day: DH(S)IMMITUDE HAS MANY FACES
DHS civil rights division reaches out to community

DEARBORN - On October 19, 2006, the British Embassy and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) co-hosted an interagency iftar in celebration of Ramadan. Alan Charlton, Deputy Head of Mission for the British Embassy, held the reception at his residence. Attendants included leaders from the American Muslim community and senior officials from several federal agencies including DHS and the Departments of State, Treasury, Justice and Health and Human Services. Among them was Daniel Sutherland, head of civil rights for the DHS.

While addressing the attendees, Sutherland acknowledged the importance of engagement between the American Muslim community and the United States Government. During his speech he said: "We are listening; we have an open door. There is no reason for Muslims in America to feel isolated from their government; we are working together regularly. One of the first great national mottos of our country is E. Pluribus Unum. It means 'From many, one' or 'Out of many, one'. It refers to the integration of America. This is our goal and in many respects our reality. Americans come from many backgrounds, many countries, many faiths; but immigrants have successfully integrated into the American dream for generations." American Muslims are no different.
(Uh, in the Muslim world it's E. Pluribus Unum too... and the "One" is Islam.)

In an interview this week with "The Arab American News," Sutherland cited the unprecedented iftar as proof that relations between the government and the Arab American and American Muslim communities are improving. He also pointed to the BRIDGES program, the effort to bring the law enforcement community and leaders of the ethnic community together to build better ties.
(But let them remind you, Dhimmland Security dogs, they really don't want you meddling in their affairs...)
While local Arab Americans and American Muslims have appreciated the newfound outreach, they also expect action and justice for the community. The pre-Ramadan raid on the local charity Life for Relief and Development and the increasing arrests of Arabs in Michigan, has many local Arab Americans and Muslims questioning the government's efforts to build better ties with the community.
Sutherland is aware of the community's concerns, but he believes the outreach efforts are crucial to reach the goal of building bridges between the Arab community and the government leaders. Since his appointment in 2003, Sutherland has worked hard to foster stronger ties. "The DHS is committed to communicating and building a solid relationship with the Arab American community," Sutherland said. Ultimately Sutherland wants to build a strategic relationship with Arab Americans so the country is more secure. He co-chairs the Bridges program, which was created in Detroit after the 9/11 attacks to improve cooperation between Middle Eastern communities and federal law enforcement.
The program is important to Sutherland because he believes it is a way to fix problems and it opens a line of communication that was not there previously.
(Uh, earth to Sutherland... there were no problems until the communicating started... loud and clear on 9/11. That's when we started listening to them... that's when we started trying to communicate with them.. and that's when we realised there are PROBLEMS...)
"Just recently a woman was put in a detention center. We were contacted by local BridgeS leaders in Michigan and she was released. We were also contacted about a medical issue that needed to be addressed in another detention facility and it was taken care of."
(That's more like it, good Dhimmland Security dogs - see, you're learning. We deal with our women OUR way...)

Since taking his position at DHS, Sutherland has worked with the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) bureau to improve immigration detention regulations. When asked why illegal Mexicans or Columbians caught in the U.S. are promptly deported and an illegal Arab can languish in jail without charges for years, he said, "The vast majority of detainees in this country are not Arabs."
Sutherland cited areas where concrete results have already been attained. One area he points to is training that all federal law enforcement agents have received against racial profiling.
(Very good Dhimmi Homeland Security. We shall let you live another 9 years)
During the iftar dinner at the British Embassy, Sutherland announced a new DHS training DVD entitled, "Introduction to Arab American and Muslim American Cultures for DHS Personnel."
Said Sutherland: "The training will serve two purposes: First, it will educate our employees, so that they can do a more effective job when they interact with Arab and Muslim travelers; second, we hope that it will demonstrate that we are taking seriously the goal of increasing the government's level of expertise and engagement on these critical topics. The DHS Office for Civil Rights and Civil Liberties developed the DVD, which outlines the basics of Arab and Muslim cultures, traditions and beliefs, and also provides information on history, geography, and naming conventions.
Sutherland stated, "The overall goal of the training is to improve the effectiveness of DHS staff as they work together with these communities to better secure America."
(To better secure American? Don't you mean to better SUBMIT America?)

Border agents seek new trial

Two U.S. Border Patrol agents sentenced to lengthy prison terms for shooting a drug-smuggling suspect as he fled across the Rio Grande want a new trial, saying three jurors claim they were pressured into returning guilty verdicts.
Jose Alonso Compean, 28, and Ignacio Ramos, 37, were sentenced Oct. 19 by U.S. District Court Judge Kathleen Cardone in El Paso, Texas, to 12 and 11 years in prison, respectively, for causing serious bodily injury, assault with a deadly weapon, discharge of a firearm in relation to a crime of violence and a civil rights violation.
A federal jury convicted the two men in March after a two-week trial, and Judge Cardone ordered them to report to prison Jan. 17. Ramos' El Paso-based attorney, Mary Stillinger, plans to appeal the case to the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in New Orleans based, in part, on sworn affidavits of three jurors -- Robert Gourley, Claudia Torres and Edine Woods -- who said they were incorrectly instructed that their verdict had to be unanimous and that the judge would not accept a hung jury.

The Shin Bet exposed during the months of August and September a network of women operating for the Islamic Jihad as part of the organization's terror infrastructure in the West Bank. This was cleared for publication Tuesday.
The network is split into two terror cells – one in Kfar Ayin and one in Kfar Na'ama – that have carried out shooting attacks and have laid roadside bombs around Ramallah. The network has even operated an explosives lab. The Shin Bet and the IDF have arrested a number of the network's members.

One of the senior women arrested is Wadha Faqhaa, 24, from Jilzon, dealt with transferring finances to one of the cells. Faqhaa, head of the Islamic Jihad office in Ramallah, was arrested on August 3. During her interrogation, she said that she received funds from the organization's command center in Syria. Some of the funds she allocated to finance terrorist cells by way of a number of women Islamic Jihad activists serving as money couriers.

Are the Democrats afraid of losing their accustomed edge in the voter fraud contest?
... In any case, this issue could kill the electoral process beyond the point of resuscitation. Once the “stolen election theme” has been pounded on sufficiently in the compliant organs of the MSM, once the “count every vote” mantra has been repeated often enough… With no possibility of a recount, public confidence in the electoral process will evaporate, and elections then become meaningless. HEZBOLLAH ROCKETS stopped raining on Israel nearly two months ago, but the Shiite organization's onslaught continues. Today, instead of directly attacking Israel, the Party of God is targeting Lebanese intellectuals and politicians who have the temerity to question Hezbollah's hegemony over local Shiite politics.
There's no debating that Hezbollah is a popular organization in Lebanon and particularly among Shiites. Not only does the organization provide health, welfare, and education services to its constituents, its military prowess is a source of honor and pride for the community.
But not all Shiites support Hezbollah. Some have been voicing their opposition to the "resistance" agenda, and not surprisingly, Hezbollah is attempting to strong-arm these dissidents into line. The intimidation has not yet degenerated into violence, but, given Hezbollah's track record (the terrorist organization is, with Syria, a leading suspect in several political assassinations in Lebanon since 2005), it is certainly wont to.
Hezbollah's quest for hegemony--and its efforts to enforce party-line discipline over all the Shiites in Lebanon--predates the summer war with Israel. Eleven months ago, in December 2005, Hezbollah and Amal ministers bolted from the government cabinet to protest consideration of an international tribunal to prosecute the murder of former Lebanese prime minister Rafik Hariri. Closely allied with Syria, the lead murder suspect, Hezbollah opposed the notion of an impartial tribunal...

New York Plans to Make Gender Personal Choice

Separating anatomy from what it means to be a man or a woman, New York City is moving forward with a plan to let people alter the sex on their birth certificate even if they have not had sex-change surgery.
Under the rule being considered by the city’s Board of Health, which is likely to be adopted soon, people born in the city would be able to change the documented sex on their birth certificates by providing affidavits from a doctor and a mental health professional laying out why their patients should be considered members of the opposite sex, and asserting that their proposed change would be permanent.
Applicants would have to have changed their name and shown that they had lived in their adopted gender for at least two years, but there would be no explicit medical requirements.
