Reality has become like a fictional nightmare: the U.S. president is a total appeaser Caroline Glick in an April 9 column in the Jerusalem Post sums up the total meaning of Obama's recent pronouncements on U.S. foreign and defence policy. Reading it, I wanted to believe that that the situation couldn't be as bad as she was saying. I was not aware of all the horrendous positions she attributes to Obama in her apocalyptic second paragraph, so I looked for information backing up her statements, and put the results in brackets.

Like it or not, the United States of America is no longer the world's policeman. This was the message of Barack Obama's presidential journey to Britain, France, the Czech Republic, Turkey and Iraq this past week.
Somewhere between apologizing for American history--both distant and recent; genuflecting before the unelected, bigoted king of Saudi Arabia; announcing that he will slash the US's nuclear arsenal [See Obama's speech in Prague], scrap much of America's missile defense programs [See Eric Cantor's April 3 piece in National Review, and Mario Loyola's March 26 prediction that the U.S. would shoot down the N. Korean missile; see website of Missile Defense Agency] and emasculate the US Navy [See Human Events, April 1]; leaving Japan to face North Korea and China alone [Glick discusses this below, but I haven't found Gates's statement she references]; telling the Czechs, Poles and their fellow former Soviet colonies, "Don't worry, be happy," as he leaves them to Moscow's tender mercies [Obama is ready to give up missile defense cooperation with those countries in exchange for Russian help with Iran]; humiliating Iraq's leaders while kowtowing to Iran [below, Glick says that in Baghdad "Obama didn't even pretend that he would ensure that Iraqi democracy and freedom is secured before US forces are withdrawn next year"]; preparing for an open confrontation with Israel [Obama in London reiterated his support for the Saudi peace plan which calls for withdrawal to '67 borders and acceptance of Palestinian right of return, and the U.S. also said it would oppose any military move by Israel against Iranian nukes]; and thanking Islam for its great contribution to American history [Obama told the Turkish parliament, "We will convey our deep appreciation for the Islamic faith, which has done so much over the centuries to shape the world--including in my own country"], President Obama made clear to the world's aggressors that America will not be confronting them for the foreseeable future...
Grab a barf bag and read it all...
