A Christchurch cleaner was lucky to escape with just cuts to his hands when a home-made bomb exploded as he picked it up on Friday afternoon.

A Christchurch cleaner was lucky to escape with just cuts to his hands when a home-made bomb exploded as he picked it up on Friday afternoon.
Detective Sergeant Mark Reid says they have no idea who planted them or why.
Seven officers are collating witness reports from all four sites and trolling through security camera footage. Reid is appealing for anyone who knows anything, or saw anything suspicious to give Christchurch police a call.
The incidents left emergency services on alert in the city and in the worst incident the city's central bus exchange had to be evacuated.
