Ellison Endorses Obama for President

MINNEAPOLIS -- Minnesota Congressman Keith Ellison says he supports Illinois Senator Barack Obama for president.

Ellison says it's not because Obama is black -- it's because the senator "speaks with a unifying spirit." Ellison is the first Muslim elected to Congress and the first black candidate elected to Congress from Minnesota.

While Ellison is supporting Obama at this stage of the campaign, the congressman acknowledges that he may end up backing New York Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton if she wins the Democratic nomination.Ellison spoke yesterday at a Black History Month event in Minneapolis.
