In my opinion, Luis Hernandez (pictured on the right), Diego's landlord and employer, should be charged with harboring fugitives, at the very least, and with a slew of housing and labor law violations as well, for starters.

I have a very hard time believing that this 19-year old was just such a good boy up until that fateful day. Most killers don't just up and kill at the drop of a hat. It takes time to develop a killer instinct and nerve for most average murders. And most aren't caught the first itme. (I watch enough A&E and Court TV to know that.) The punk should have stayed in Ecuador where, I imagine, he could have gotten away with something like this.

I hope this send chills through the entire illegal alien community... I am sure the deportation of his relatives will.

I hope it sends ripples of awakening through the rest of our blessed "Sanctuary City" here.

As it is, I feel no sympathy whatsoever for any of these illegals. I also am highly skepitcal of the large amounts of money they say they paid for their passage into my country. And the 'poor struggling illegal victims' tone of this article sickens me.

But I certainly do feel sympathy for Adrienne whose beautiful life was stolen from her (pictured at top left and below) and for her family and friends, and especially for her 3-year-old daughter and husband.

Another senseless murder of an American at the dirty hands of a third-world criminal trespasser.

How many more does there have to be?

Diego Pillco, the teen accused of killing indie-film actress Adrienne Shelly for fear he would be deported, lived in hiding with his illegal-immigrant relatives in a basement boiler-room hovel owned by their construction boss.
Access to the dungeonlike lair the 19-year-old shared with his brother Wilson and cousin in Greenwood Heights, Brooklyn, is hidden behind the main stairs of a three-story brick apartment building. A small door leads to narrow plywood steps and the windowless underground home.

Diaz said Pillco's cousin was taken away in a raid by Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents at about 6 a.m. Thursday. Several other accused illegal immigrants were hauled from the basement of the house next door - also owned by Hernandez, he said.

Witnesses said Hernandez and a group of his workers attempted to remove all evidence that illegal immigrants had been living in the basements of his adjoining buildings Thursday - carrying out furniture and personal items from the Prospect Avenue address.

Placed around the dingy space last week were a pair of dusty construction boots, a collection of religious icons, bottles of Crown Royal whiskey, pirated soft-core porn, Spanish horror DVDs - and receipts for money wired back home to Ecuador.

Pillco shared one tiny bedroom with his brother. Their matching beds were kept neatly made.
On a bedside table lay a receipt for a $50 money transfer from Pillco to his father in Cuenca, dated three days before the grisly murder.
"They never went out, except to go to the store or go to work," Diaz said. "They were pretty quiet. They kept to themselves. They only spoke Spanish."
On the wall hung a picture of two small kids. A simple shrine to a Catholic patron saint, adorned with flowers and prayer cards, was kept below the photo.
In the corner near the bedroom door was a cheap TV. On a nearby shelf were a collection of Spanish horror and smutty films featuring women dressed as schoolgirls posing on the cover.

In the apartment - and I use the world generously as it is so small - across the hall from me used to live illegals, and three bunkbeds. Up to five at a time, is my best guess. Every month to two months there would be a few new ones, while others had moved on.

They kept me up all night 24/7 with loud music while their drunken friends came and went constantly - even at two, three and four in the morning. I had to pound on their door every night, and many times more than once a night. At first I tried being very nice, asking them to please turn the music down. They just stared vacantly at me, like drunken cows. Then, after a month or so I understood that I wasn't getting through to them. So I started yelling and swearing. It still did no good. I should have called the cops from the get-go.

I complained to my landlord, he never took me seriously, thought it was funny. Especially when I told him I suspected they were illegal. Maybe because he still holds a misogynistic view of women brought from his own country of origin and also employs lots of illegals in his three restaurants here on the Upper West Side. Meanwhile I was getting four hours of disrupted sleep every night.

And there is plenty more to tell that I won't get into. You'll just have to trust me. Oh, and once they had a prostitute working from there. I called the cops that night and the woman on the line thought I was being an asshole. She said,"Maybe you shuld get to know your neighbors." I replied that I did know my neighbors, and that was why I was calling.

Bottom line: You don't want these people living near you or anyone you in the least bit like.

Suffice to say, I will never be lienient with illegals ever again.

Within eight months two of them (cousins) were arrested for lewd conduct in the hallway, witnessed by two of my other single white female neighbors. (Those quiet nights they spent in jail were heaven for me as the others were afraid to even come home.) Us ladies had to band together and threaten to sue our landlord if he didn't kick them out after that.

Learn this lesson people: Call the cops first thing.

(Oh - and after they were finally evicted and there was no more food there, the apartment next to them was inundated with roaches and mice. Nice.)

It's pretty much been cool here since then... except for the illegals who now live down the hall, whose oldest child spits in the hallway and who let their youngest child (born here) scream and shriek at all hours... oh, and then there's the bike and refrigerator they discarded at the top of the stairs. (Sometimes I complain to the landlord and the junk gets moved for a few days... but it always appears again. Damn. I am being too tolerant again. I should just call 311 next time and have the City deal with it. Yeah. I think I will.) The mother speaks no English, but I complained (very nicely) once at 11:30 PM as her youngest was playing in the hallway and squealing and shrieking. (And I mean SHRIEKING.) As a result I learned the woman can say the word 'bitch'.

I don't know where her and her son are from, but a Dominican-looking guy stops by every once-in-a-while to visit him. The "dad" is from Ecuador. They live in a studio much smaller than even mine... all decorated with those little blinking Christmas tree - uh, Feliz Navidad lights. Viva la fiesta!

But hey, at least I am still alive.
