Disturbing reports are coming out of Washington, D.C.
These reports reveal the depth of the below-the-surface coordination between the Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR), Hamas, Hezbollah, the Iranian regime and the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt, Syria, Tunisia, Libya and Jordan. This bloc of regimes and organizations is now becoming the greatest Islamist radical lobby ever to penetrate and infiltrate the White House, Congress, the State Department and the main decision making centers of the US government. All of this is happening at a time when the US government is going through its most strategically dangerous period in modern times because of its need to confront the Iranian Mullahs regime, which is expanding in the Middle East, as well as penetrating the United States, via powerful and influential allies.

It looks like the near future will uncover many surprises after the fall of the Gaddafi regime, as we realize more and more that the popular revolts in the Arab world -- and the Obama Administration's position towards them -- were determined by political battles between various pressure groups in Washington. Moreover, pressures by these lobbying groups have left an impact on the region's events, the last of which was the canceling of the visit of Maronite Patriarch Rahi to Washington. A number of Arab and Western news agencies have leaked that one of "those who sought to cancel this visit was Dalia Mujahid, a top advisor on Islamic and Arab affairs at the State Department, who is of Egyptian origin. And that", said the reports, "came at the request of the high command of the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt, who wish to see the US Administration support the Islamist Sunni current."

Also very noticeable at this point is the growing domination of Islamist forces around the Mediterranean: the victory of the Nahda Islamist Party in Tunisia, the declaration by (TNC Chairman) Mustafa Abdeljalil that Libya is an Islamist state and the rise of the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt. These developments wouldn't have happened without the approval of the United States. A document published in Washington indicated that Egypt will face more violence and tensions while moving to the Pakistani, rather than the Turkish, model. Egypt will be ruled by an opportunistic bourgeoisie and a regime declaring itself Islamist, and it will be backed by a military institution. The military will be used by the Islamists to maintain power but the armed forces, the parliament, the regime and the constitution will all become Islamist.

In return, the Maronite Patriarch is denied a visit to Washington, Coptic Christian churches are destroyed in Egypt, and Coptic demonstrators are massacred at Maspero in Cairo by the Egyptian military, demonstrating that the goal is to suppress Christians in the Middle East, who are - as Patriarch Rahi said -- paying a high price for the revolts of the Arab Spring. Rahi expressed his concerns about the fate of Syrian and Lebanese Christians and sees, as does the world, the flight of millions of Iraqi and Middle Eastern Christians from their homelands as a result of events in Iraq, and the methodic persecution against the Copts. The Christians of Egypt aren't only facing suppression and ethnic cleansing but a form of genocide.

The real question now is: who is allowing the Muslim Brotherhood lobby to damage the relationship between the US Administration and millions of Middle East Christians? This lobby was able to delay meetings between leaders from Coptic Solidarity International, including Magdi Khalil and Adel Guindy, with the US Government. Similar obstructions have been happening with Chaldean and Assyrian delegations over the past few years. Moreover, the Muslim Brotherhood has waged a hysterical campaign against prominent experts in counterterrorism such as Steven Emerson, Daniel Pipes, John Guandolo and Robert Spencer.

One particularly rough campaign was waged by CAIR against Professor Walid Phares, one of the most important, and even prescient, experts in counterterrorism and Jihadist movements in the US. In his book, "The Coming Revolution: Struggle for Freedom in the Middle East", Dr. Phares predicted its evolution and the shape of coming Islamist regimes in the region...

More than any of the visceral emotions this Washington Post story may summon, sadness seems most apt:
"For several months, radio host Tom Joyner has pleaded with his 8 million listeners to get in line behind the first black president. “Stick together, black people,” says Joyner, whose R&B morning show reaches one in four African American adults. The Rev. Al Sharpton, an ally of President Obama who has a daily radio show and hosts a nightly cable television program, recently told the president’s black critics, “I’m not telling you to shut up. I’m telling you: Don’t make some of us have to speak up.”
In other words, he really does mean, “shut up.”
The piece continues:
“Even as Obama and his campaign play down the suggestion that support among African Americans is flagging, a cadre of powerful allies is snapping back at critics in the black community and making explicit appeals for racial loyalty. “Let’s not even deal with the facts right now. Let’s deal with just our blackness and pride — and loyalty,” Joyner wrote on his BlackAmericaWeb.com blog. “We have the chance to re-elect the first African-American president, and that’s what we ought to be doing. And I’m not afraid or ashamed to say that as black people, we should do it because he’s a black man.”
As the Post’s story notes, Joyner isn’t some marginal figure; his radio program reaches 25 percent of all black adults living in America. He is using that megaphone to urge African Americans to vote as a monolithic bloc, based solely on skin color, and to disregard “the facts” in doing so. Reporter Krissah Thomspon interviews a bevy of black voters, radio personalities, and academics for her story. Though they express divergent opinions on these increasingly frank racial appeals, not a single person quoted says he or she opposes the president:
“Jack Jackson, who works for the city’s water treatment plant, said he is tired of the appeals to black identity politics.
“Leave the race game alone,” said Jackson, 53, who said he supports Obama. “Let’s not keep holding on to that. It’s been done. . . . We should put our faith in God, not Obama.”
But Corry McGriff, 42, said the call to stick together resonates with him, and McGriff has begun telling his friends that they have a responsibility to support the president, too. “We need to keep him in there. By him becoming president, he is showing African Americans that it can be done,” said McGriff, who works for a federal defense contractor. “He helped the race. ”
Kychelle Green, 18, a nursing student at Norfolk State University, agreed. “You know it’s not really his fault that things aren’t changing,” she said. “He’s really trying but he can’t change every rule on his own. Now people are trying to criticize him because he is African American.” Green said she listens every morning to Steve Harvey, who is among the radio hosts who are promoting the message that Obama deserves support.
Warren Ballentine, a black talk radio host based in North Carolina who has interviewed Obama about a dozen times, speaks about the president’s accessibility. “It’s not like he is not hearing black America,” he said. Ballentine specifically reminds his listeners of the racial undertones he saw in the 2008 campaign. “It’s almost like we’ve forgotten what this man had to go through to get into the office. Sheeeeeeeeit, you want hatred and vitriol, Ballentine? The obscene hate speech, violence, and false accusations of “racist” toward the Tea Party has taken on a surreal, histrionic quality. I lived through the 60′s and 70′s and from what I’ve seen, the malignant hostility coming from Dem politicians alone, rivals anything regurgitated by the likes of the SDS, Black Panthers, and the Weathermen. While attempting to give the appearance of a “leaderless” movement, Occupy Wall Street is in fact the result of a very calculating and dangerous organization of radicalized anti-Americans who have infected U.S. politics at the highest levels of government – including the White House.
A quick review of the occupywallst.org website revealed a very telling passage at the bottom of the site’s ”About” page that states the following:

On 13 Jul 2011, the group Adbusters released this call: Occupy Wall Street!

In Solidarity, and as a response to this call, a planning group was formed [occupywallst.org], and an info sharing site established. The participation of every person, and every organization, that has an interest in returning the US back into the hands of its individual citizens is required.

Our nation, our species and our world are in crisis. The US has an important role to play in the solution, but we can no longer afford to let corporate greed and corrupt politics set the policies of our nation.
We, the people of the United States of America, considering the crisis at hand, now reassert our sovereign control of our land.
Solidarity Forever!

Despite a rather weak denial to being associated with the Adbusters group (based out of Vancouver BC of all places), the “About Us” page on the occupywallst. shows a clear and direct link to that group – for according to those responsible for the Occupy webpage, the movement’s genesis was the call to arms initiated by Adbusters. So who then is Adbusters?
That search leads to the Adbusters website, where the following shocking description of their particular agenda is outlined:
United in Hate
Sometimes Adbusters can seem disjointed, including polemics against tobacco companies, food companies, logging, fashion designers, and more. What unites this motley crew and keeps them working together?
At the heart of Adbusters is hatred of big business, in any form.
Reading Adbusters, one learns that the authors do not like people very much, particularly Americans. “About a third of Americans today are certifiably fascist,” declares Anis Shivani in the September/October 2003 issue.
Adbusters generally prefers rage to discernment. “Let your anger out. When it wells up suddenly from deep in your gut, don’t suppress it — channel it, trust it, use it. Don’t be so unthinkingly civil all the time,” Kalle Lasn advises. “Rage drives revolutions.”
And just who does Adbusters receive their funding from? The largest contributor to this anti-American, anti-capitalist group is none other than the Tides Foundation/Tides Center. For those who might be unaware, the Tides Foundation is described by ActivistCash.com as follows:
Now comes the Tides Foundation and its recent offshoot, the Tides Center, creating a new model for grantmaking — one that strains the boundaries of U.S. tax law in the pursuit of its leftist, activist goals.
Set up in 1976 by California activist Drummond Pike, Tides does two things better than any other foundation or charity in the U.S. today: it routinely obscures the sources of its tax-exempt millions, and makes it difficult (if not impossible) to discern how the funds are actually being used.
The Tides Center board of directors has been especially busy of late. In 2001 the first Tides “franchise” office (not counting Tides’ presence in Washington and New York) was opened in Pittsburgh. This new outpost, called the Tides Center of Western Pennsylvania, was erected largely at the urging of Pittsburgh native Teresa Heinz (the widow of Senator John Heinz, the ketchup heir). Heinz pulls more strings in the foundation world than almost any other old-money socialite; she’s presently married to U.S. Senator John Kerry (D-MA). The Tides Foundation has collaborated on funding projects with the Heinz Endowments (Teresa Heinz’s personal domain) for over 10 years.
Tides also maintains an interesting relationship with the multi-billion-dollar Pew Charitable Trusts. Since 1993 Pew has used the Tides Foundation and/or Tides Center to “manage” three high-profile journalism initiatives: the Pew Center for Excellence in Journalism, the Pew Center for Civic Journalism, and the Pew Center for the People and the Press.
In practice, the social reformers at the helm of the Pew Charitable Trusts use these media entities to run public opinion polling; to indoctrinate young reporters in “reporting techniques” that are consistent with Pew’s social goals; and to “promote” (read: subsidize) actual reporting and story preparation that meets Pew’s definition of “civic journalism.” Civic journalism, by the way, is defined as reporting that “mobilizes Americans” behind issues that Pew considers important.
Among the most unbelievable “projects” of the Tides Center is something called the Institute for Global Communications (www.igc.org). IGC is a clearinghouse for Leftist propagandists of all stripes, including living-wage advocates, anti-war protesters, slave-reparations hucksters, and a wide variety of extreme environmentalists.
Now who then is Tides founder Drummond Pike? Investigative blogger JoAnne Moretti does a fantastic job of outlining the history of Mr Pike – and connected him directly to none other than President Barack Obama:
As we know, Drummond Pike is the founder of Tides Foundation. Tides funds ACORN. As a matter of fact, it was Tides who came up with the money to reimburse ACORN the million dollars Dale Rathke embezzled. (Dale Rathke is Wade Ratheke’s brother.) (Wade Rathke is founder of ACORN).
Drummond Pike is also the Treasurer of George Soros’ Democracy Alliance.

What a coincidence. Bill Ayers, Bernadine Dohrn, Rathke, Zach Pollett, Alan Haber, Tom Hayden were all original SDS.
Occupy Wall Street is far from the “grassroots” or “peaceful” activist movement it currently pretends to be – but rather a highly organized and well funded organization with direct ties to the current President of the United States. A movement not born of fair and equitable concerns, but rather one based upon long standing anti-American radicalism from the likes of Bill Ayers, George Soros, and Drummond Pike.

Obama Deportation Numbers Nothing More Than a 'Trick'

House Judiciary Committee Chairman Rep. Lamar Smith points out in Politico today that the White House boasts on deportations are nothing more than a trick: "Unfortunately for U.S. workers, the Obama administration's immigration enforcement record is just a magic trick."

... Take away the hocus-pocus, and it is clear the Obama administration is neglecting to enforce immigration laws. The administration has all but abandoned worksite enforcement actions. Over the past two years, worksite enforcement has plummeted 70 percent.

Under this administration, there have been fewer arrests of illegal workers, fewer criminal arrests, fewer indictments and fewer convictions. This means illegal workers continue to take jobs away from unemployed Americans.

Without worksite enforcement, we cannot stop employers from hiring illegal workers. And as long as the jobs magnet exists, millions of illegal immigrants most likely will come to the U.S. and take jobs from lawful workers.

The president and his administration have also decided to grant administrative amnesty to illegal immigrants.

The conflicts of interest and policy controversies in the Federal Reserve’s bailout of the financial system now include helping out millionaires, billionaires, foreign automakers, and companies whose executives sit on the board of directors of the U.S. central bank.

The Federal Reserve also bought more than $2.2 billion in commercial paper from the state-owned central bank of Bavaria, and it gave more than $23 billion in loans to the Arab Banking Corp. based in Bahrain, with an interest rate as low as a quarter of a percentage point. The Federal Reserve also lent more than $9.6 billion to the Central Bank of Mexico.

Banks worldwide tapped into the Federal Reserve’s emergency lending programs more than 4,200 times for a total of $3.8 trillion, estimates show.
Senator Sanders’ staff found that “several billionaires and tens of multi-millionaires received cheap loans from the Fed to invest in securities backed by auto, mortgage, credit card, student and mortgage loans,” Sanders’ letter says. That Fed program is called the Term Asset-backed Securities Loan Facility.
The rich include Christy Mack, the wife of Morgan Stanley’s John Mack, billionaire businessman H. Wayne Huizenga; and Michael Dell, co-founder of Dell Computer, hedge fund manager John Paulson and private equity honcho J. Christopher Flowers.

Sanders also wants to know why the Federal Reserve bailed out the Korea Development Bank, the state-owned bank of South Korea, by purchasing more than $2.2 billion of its commercial paper, and why it also extended more than $40 billion to the central bank in South Korea.

I’ve previously noted that the Fed bailed out the Central Bank of Libya under Gaddafi.

Indeed, Ron Paul – the current chair of the monetary policy subcommittee – says that one-third of Fed bailout loans – and essentially 100% of NY Fed loans – went to foreign banks.

The American people didn’t get to vote on these huge bailouts and low-cost loans to foreign banks.

Congress didn’t get to vote on them … they didn’t even know about them.

Independent economists didn’t have a chance to weigh in on whether shipping American dollars abroad is good for the U.S.

Indeed, it seems as if the Fed has chosen to help everyone but the average American … choosing the big banks and financiers – abroad or in the U.S. – again and again at the expense of the little guy. (The Fed is even intentionally curbing lending by the banks to Main Street.)

No wonder even the non-partisan Government Accountability Office calls the Fed corrupt and riddled with conflicts of interest.

No wonder high-level economists have said that the Fed caused both the Great Depression and the current economic crisis.

No wonder economists say that the Federal Reserve should be ended – or its powers be dramatically curtailed.

One woman who was recruited from a homeless shelter to protest and then canvass as part of a campaign ostensibly aimed at home foreclosures told Fox, “I get the money and then the money is being used for Occupy Wall Street—to pay for all of it, for supplies, food, transportation, salaries, for everything … all that money is going to pay for the protests downtown and that’s just messed up. It’s just wrong.” So in case you were wondering how they can afford the new Port-a-Potties, there you go.

If you're wondering whether I was at Occupy Berkeley on October 15, the answer is no. I didn't have to attend; every day around here is Occupy Berkeley.

Because every moment of every day, I am surrounded by people who believe the insanity spewed by the occupants of Occupy. When I listened to the well-crafted video produced by three intrepid, Bay Area tea partiers at Occupy Oakland, none of what I heard surprised me. I thought, "Just another day in Berkeley or Oakland.

Around here almost everyone thinks like these Marxist spewing militants. While in your neck of the woods random strangers may comment, "Nice day if it doesn't rain," around here the words would be, "Nice day for a revolution."

While the video didn't shock me, it did disturb. What troubled me wasn't just how widespread is the diatribe, but that up until a few, short years ago, I believed all of it. Before Obama came on the scene, I could have been interviewed, mumbling and bumbling, just like those other frothing-at-the-mouth leftists.

I would also have parroted the Third-World loving party line. I too would have angrily and self-righteously proclaimed that the US was the root of all evil in the world.

To me, capitalism was bad, communism good (which I discovered after watching the handsome Warren Beatty in the sweeping thriller, Reds). I envied Cuba, home of the finest health care system in the world (thank you, Michael Moore). And I, like our current occupiers, ranted and raved about the racist, patriarchal, capitalist system with its millionaire fat cats (which I learned from reading books by those millionaire fat cats, Noam Chomsky, Al Franken, Gloria Steinem and the late Howard Zinn.)

I believed all of this despite the now glaring inconsistencies in my argument. For one, I (like most leftists) had mutual funds that invested in the horrible corporations. While I was never flush with money, I wouldn't have minded being so. And just like those demonic capitalists, I got a kick out of procuring a big-ticket item, such as a car with that wonderful new car smell.

So how did I fall so deeply into the progressive chimera? Given that I am (I hope) an intelligent person, with the potential to see the light, why did I drink the Kool-Aid for so long? In the service of shedding some light on our current occupiers, I offer the following observations:

Monkey see, monkey do: Leftists follow the leader. Since most progressives believe the anti-capitalist nonsense, the majority will follow in lock step. In liberal areas, there is groupthink -- cult-like behavior, where people must chant the same old tired mantras. To step out of line will undoubtedly bring social condemnation and shunning.

Indoctrination: While I thought I was an independent thinker, it never occurred to me to look outside the moveon.org box. All of my media was leftist; the so-called independent bookstores (the ones that celebrate "Banned Books Week") ban conservative books. So while Noam Chomsky is always welcome to give a book reading, Ann Coulter would never be invited within 50 miles of here.

The programming is particularly acute in the schools. In Berkeley, we have Malcolm X Elementary School and Malcolm X Park. Just to make sure that the kiddies get the message to emulate Mr. X, public school students (and all city employees) get Malcolm X's birthday off (same with Indigenous People's Day, aka Columbus Day, and International Women's Day).

While most areas aren't so extreme, there are hard-core activists all over this nation's school systems with union jobs for life. It's not a coincidence that Bill Ayers is a tenured professor of education; he knew the power of brainwashing kids when knee-high. With youth and their parents subscribing to the Party Line, it's not difficult to lead the progressive sheep to slaughter.

Of course, leftists are badly misguided about what a revolution actually entails. They weren't told, for instance, that Che Guevara, whose handsome face is emblazoned on their fashionable t-shirts, was actually a psychotic killer. Che got such a thrill from watching executions that he had a picture window installed in his office, and had the butchery conducted below.

And then there's another historical fact that eludes our gullible revolutionaries. After a revolution, the activists and militants themselves often get offed. Of course this would be the case; why would the regime want troublemakers and insurrectionaries in the populace?

The Cool Factor: Obama was elected, in part, because he was viewed as cool (though most of us on the right saw him not as cool, but cold). Being a leftist/revolutionary/radical type is viewed as hip and trendy. Simply consult your thesaurus to see the negative words associated with being a "conservative" versus a "liberal." And aren't we a society enamored by anything and anyone who is considered cool?

Alienation and the Search for Meaning: People of all ages, but particularly youth, have an inherent need to find meaning. With spirituality shunned, people look to the secular religion of progressivism to fill the existential void. By fighting against "The Man," capitalism, and America, the radicals believe that they are good people who live lives of value in an otherwise nihilistic world.

An increasing number of people feel alienated in this culture. They are Americans, yet are told that America is bad. They may have a hunger for God, and yet turn away because believers are mocked.

This sense of alienation from God and country compels many people to look to political movements for their raison d'etre . Being leftists offers the lost souls a sense of belonging and identity.

60s Fever: There's a hunger to relive the 60s, even though the Hollywood, sanitized version didn't exactly happen. I've heard young people bemoan the fact that they were too young to enjoy San Francisco, adorned with flowers in their hair.

Of course, the Bay Area in the 60s was besieged by drug overdoses, rapes, the gangster Black Panthers, and radical terrorist bombings. But given that the Baby Boomers wax rhapsodic about the good-old days, both grey haired and youth take to the streets to relive a reality that never happened.

Delusion: The radicals misunderstand the nature of reality. They believe that life should be fair, that hierarchy and differences among people shouldn't exist. It is a form of delusion to embrace utopia and perfection in this human realm.

But, again, this secular society has trashed religion and deconstructed history, the realms of which would explain the way life works. Instead, people on the left live in a fantasy world; and they go ballistic on opponents because truth threatens their dreamworld.

Control: Occupying the streets allows participants to feel good about themselves, noble, as though they are saving the world. In contrast, it's a buzz kill to realize how little control one has over this life. To feel insignificant, like a little cog in the wheel, is depressing. How much more exciting to elevate oneself into the role of some revolutionary involved in a movement to radically transform America.

Generation Me: Scores of studies show the same thing: that today's youth are more narcissistic than ever before. While previous generations of the l8 to 24-year-old crowd prioritized family and meaning, today's young want six figures and they want it now. They have been raised to feel special and entitled, particularly those in supposedly disenfranchised groups (which, incidentally, is most of the American population). And if they have to take some of your hard earned dough to live the good life, no problemo.

Greed: Despite the leftists' lofty claims about fairness, isn't socialism all about greed, about coveting thy neighbor's house? Can't the essence of progressive politics be distilled to this: wanting money, money, and more money?

While those on the left profess to be anti-capitalists, they are the real capitalists. They are so preoccupied with capital, and envious of those who have it, that they want it through any means necessarily. Even billionaire Warren Buffet must be less obsessed with cash and the things it can buy than these love-of-money leftists.

The Need for a Scapegoat: Human beings know instinctively that there is both good and evil in the world. But the moral relativism inherent in liberal education tells people that everyone is good. When people are robbed of the knowledge of good and evil, they will create scapegoats.

Of course, Obama, Pelosi, and the left are masters at pointing fingers rightward, and insinuating that conservatives are racist/Nazi-like subhumans. Whenever there's a lunatic out of control somewhere in the world, the left impugns conservatives. It's no wonder that there's such anti-American, anti-Christian, anti-Semitic, and anti-conservative vitriol all over the airwaves. Not surprisingly, a mob mentality ensues, with angry, violent, and demonic mobs taking to the streets.

As for me, I somehow snapped out of my leftist trance a few years ago, and, since then, have realized that everything that I thought (and I mean everything) was wrong. I thank my lucky stars every day that I finally saw the light.

But will others wake up as well...will people get a grip and get a clue? Will they realize that while imperfect, capitalist America is the best around -- which is why so many people are desperate to become citizens here?

Sadly, I doubt it. I think that the indoctrination is way too far gone. Further, we have a President who will stop at nothing to keep the masses in an enraged, hypnotic trance.

The best we can do is to dislodge the militants from the streets and restore order. But more than this: we need to expel the number one militant, the one with the secret cabal of Czars and obvious disdain for the Constitution.

Because the biggest danger isn't Occupy Chicago or Occupy Wall Street -- it's Obama himself. What we're seeing is: "Occupy The White House."

Our greatest peril isn't the mobs on the streets of Manhattan; it's having a President who thinks he's above the law. It's having our head of state support violent insurrections here and abroad.

The United States doesn't need any more occupations; what we need is a new occupant in the White House. And hopefully, prayerfully, we will have a new one come next November.

‘Occupy Hollywood’ – The Left Begins to Eat Itself

You’re not a conservative if Kim Kardashian making millions for being a half-witted, no-talent reality TV star bothers you. In fact, if you feel “there oughta be a law” somehow regulating, limiting or otherwise controlling in any manner at all how much dough she rakes in from the drooling morons who choose to fling it at her, you are part of the problem.
This woman took very, very little in the way of ability and somehow provided a service – of a kind that frankly baffles me – that millions of people nevertheless want to spend their money on. Regardless, it’s none of your or my business, and it’s especially none of the government’s business.
But now, here comes “Occupy Hollywood,” a hilarious exercise in poetic justice in which the left proposes to chase its own tail by attacking the same cretinous celebrities who have been the first to parrot every commie slogan the bongo-playing degenerates of Occupy Wall Street have misspelled on their placards.
Jo Piazza, the author of some remainder bin perennial titled Celebrity, Inc.: How Famous People Make Money, is leading the bite-the-hand-that-feeds-you-athon with an article in The Huffington Post called “Occupy Hollywood: Why It’s Time To Call Out High-Earning Celebrities.”
For some reason, she thinks what movie stars make is some sort of problem:
Yet, the middle class continues to prop up the .01 percent: Hollywood celebrities who make millions just for being themselves. When it comes to making money, celebrities are abnormal. Their enormous salaries make them outliers in the American economy, on a pay grade above most CEOs, surgeons and lawyers — the professions that typically come to mind when we think of the wealthy.
Well, it sure is a problem, like global warming is a problem — that is, it isn’t. As Chet the Unicorn would say if he was here and not riding the magic rainbow to Happyland, that some people she envies are successful is apparently America’s greatest crisis; ergo, you should all be outraged! After all, to liberals, government’s primary function is catering to the worst impulses of jealous busybodies.
Piazza whines about Kardashian, Snooki, and Brangelina making money. For some reason, she is under the impression that what celebrities make is her business:
It is messed up! So what can we do about it?
Only a liberal sees other people being successful and finds it imperative to put a stop to it. Her solution?
So how about a movement to Occupy Hollywood?
Gimme a break. Here’s a better idea. How about you and the rest of the left-wing morons start a movement to shut the hell up?
We, as conservatives who love freedom – meaning of necessity that we love free enterprise and detest the idea of the kind of fascist nanny state these losers would impose in order to to make the world conform to their arbitrary and self-serving concepts of fairness – need to draw the battle line here, at the celebrities.
We need to defend the right of everyone – even stupid, useless, vapid nincompoops – to get rich.
Johnny Depp (by all accounts a good guy) made $50 million last year, Piazza complains. And we conservatives must say, “Awesome!”
Liberals see success as a problem – if people are able to live their own lives without the guidance of aspiring liberal fascists, the entire premise of liberalism is fatally undercut. So success is the target, and not a lot of people have been as successful as Johnny Depp has.
Yeah, he’s earned a lot of money. That’s great! The key word is “earned.” He has talent, he has skill, and he provides something that makes him worth $50 million a year to someone. That someone wants his services and considers it a good deal to fork over $50 mil, but Piazza, the liberal fascist, would prefer to substitute her arbitrary assessment of his value for the free choice of those who actually are paying him.
Hell no.
Depp’s time and talent belong to him — not to Piazza, not Michael Moore, not to any of those drumming idiots in Zuccotti Park.
It belongs to him, not her, and he owes no one – not me, not you, not Piazza, not Obama – any explanations, reasons or excuses. If he wishes to bathe nude in a swimming pool full of twenties, that’s his business and none of ours.
It’s his property. Taking it from him, as Piazza would love to do to satisfy her personal vision of justice, is theft.
It’s morally wrong.
And as a practical matter, it’s devastating. Piazza and the rest of her envious, thieving loser pals don’t really care about Depp’s millions. They care about our thousands. Hell, we all know how communism works; it’s the regular folks who get their property redistributed while the nomenklatura elite lives in luxury.
We can safely assume Piazza envisions herself a redistributer rather than a redistributee. It’s always like that with liberals; somehow we end up making the sacrifice while they sip champagne. Do you think Al Gore is going to take a seat on a biodiesel Greyhound bus or hop on a private jet to the next climate change scam confab?
Spreading hate for the successful, lying that their success is somehow illegitimate or “unearned” because it fails to meet some ever-shifting set of arbitrary standards, is simply a way to get their fascist footsies in the door to redistribute us.
Sure, it’s amusing to see a bunch of liberal Hollywood nitwits suddenly confronted by howling leftists who the stars thought they had been backing. As entertaining as poetic justice is, it’s still wrong to take people’s property just because they are stupid and embrace idiotic ideas – Alec Baldwin, I’m looking your way.
Sure, you have an elitist buffoon like Frank Rich figuratively – at least – sporting wood over the idea that this Occupy Wall Street nonsense will develop into a real class war. Limo leftists are always turned on by the thought of real live revolution – that’s why they don t-shirts silk-screened with the mug of that butcher Che Guevara (they forget how that coward died begging for his useless life before the CIA and Bolivian Army sent him on an eternal vacation to hell).
But dilettantes like Rich and the Hollywood left would soon find themselves against the bullet-pocked wall if a real revolution came. And they’d die wondering why, as so many other useful idiots have in the aftermath of previous leftist revolutions.
Of course, that won’t happen here, because there won’t be a leftist revolution, because too many of us will fight to the death before we ever let that happen. So there’s no real danger; the elite leftists from Hollywood to New York can keep on posing as the vanguard of the coming people’s struggle, kept safe and secure, as always, by the efforts of better men and women than themselves.
In the meantime, we can hold the line for freedom and free enterprise by defending the rights of clowns named Kardashian and malignant dwarfs named Snooki to sell whatever it is that people – for whatever unfathomable reason – choose to buy from them.
Maybe a few celebrities might learn a lesson from Occupy Hollywood. Maybe some might not be so quick to reflexively adopt the latest tidbit of lefty received wisdom next time. But it doesn’t matter. We don’t defend their freedom because we like them. We do so because it is the right thing to do, and because when we defend their freedom, we are defending our own.

Occupy Wall Street has often been compared to the Tea Party; I think it’s usually meant as an insult. By comparing the grass roots protest of the Tea Party to the amalgam of radicals at Occupy, they can diminish the Tea Party’s success and make all protests distasteful to the general public.
There is little similarity. While the Tea Parties were neat and orderly, the Occupy protests are noisy, juvenile, and stinky. The Tea Parties were friendly while the Occupy movement is violent, angry, and crime ridden; they have the same problem with lawlessness that plagues most Democrat-controlled cities.
This explains why there is such a vast difference between the two. The Occupy movement is not only mostly Democrat; it is also democratic. Likewise, the Tea Parties are both a republic and Republican. They are microcosms of the political philosophies they each represent.
Tea parties are controlled by the rule of law and are planned in advance. They acquire proper permits, rent PA systems, Porti-Potties, and Tents. When they’re over, people pick up the trash and go home.
Occupy is famous for creepy chanting after every speaker finishes a sentence and a guy relieving himself against the side of a police car. Some of the Occupy residents have, ironically, used the facilities of McDonalds and Starbucks and even took ironic shelter from the rain in a Bank of America ATM kiosk (I’m sure the irony is lost on them, though). They loudly proclaim that “this is what Democracy looks like!”
Constitutional author James Madison would agree. In Federalist # 10 he wrote: "Hence it is that such democracies have ever been spectacles of turbulence and contention; have ever been found incompatible with personal security or the rights of property; and have in general been as short in their lives as they have been violent in their deaths."

Islamic law, or Shariah, already is being applied in the U.S. court system, according to an extensive new report.
A recent Center for Security Policy study called “Shariah Law and American State Courts: An Assessment of State Appellate Court Cases outlines dozens of cases in which the Islamic system of law has been applied.
Center spokesman David Reaboi said the Islamic strictures are being carried out mostly in cases in which foreigners are the principals.
“Shariah enters U.S. courts through the practice of comity to foreign law,” Reaboi explained. “This happens, for example, when a judge decides to allow the use of say, Pakistani or Saudi family law (Shariah) in a dispute between Pakistanis or Saudis.”
He said the study only scratches the surface of Shariah’s presence in the nation.
“For every case in this sample drawn from published appellate legal cases, there are innumerable cases at the trial level that remain unnoticed except by the participants,” the study said.
Among the cases cited was one from New Jersey in which a wife sought a restraining order against her husband because of spousal abuse.
“S.D. (wife) and M.J.R. (husband) were both Muslims and citizens of Morocco and both resided in New Jersey. After only three months of marriage, husband began physically abusing wife.” the report said.
“The trial court refused to issue a final restraining order against husband finding that, although husband had harassed and assaulted wife, husband believed it was his religious right,” according to the report.
“The New Jersey appellate court reversed the trial court and ordered that the trial court enter a final restraining order against husband. The New Jersey appellate court stated that the trial court erroneously allowed the husband’s religious beliefs to excuse him from New Jersey’s criminal code and that husband knowingly engaged in non-consensual sex with wife,” the report said.
The report also presents details of 19 more “top cases” and a summary of 50 cases from 23 states that have used Shariah as the basis for court decisions...

I do not believe that what is going on today around Wall Street is what Thomas Jefferson had in mind when he wrote in a letter to James Madison on Jan. 30, 1787, in reference to Shay’s Rebellion: “I hold it that a little rebellion, now and then, is a good thing, and as necessary in the political world as storms in the physical.”
I don’t think we are facing a little rebellion. All rebellions start small; but some, like the one France experienced and what we may have to endure, could be earth-shattering.
The reasons are simple: too much debt and too little economic growth. Consider the facts:
The U.S. unemployment rate stands above 9 percent. The true unemployment rate, which takes into account people who have given up looking for work, is close to 17 percent.
For the past decade, U.S. stock indexes have been flat. Accounting for inflation, they have actually declined. Many Americans have lost a lifetime of savings.
The U.S. money supply has grown threefold in the past three years. If the investment banks ever stop collecting bonuses and lend this money, it will trigger double-digit inflation; an event which will make Americans even more angry.
Since the stock indexes peaked in 2007, real income for Americans has dropped 10 percent. Despite the addition of trillions of new dollars courtesy of the Federal Reserve, many Americans are undergoing the greatest loss of wealth since the Great Depression.
The U.S. and other Western democracies stand at a precipice. It is a situation that is sending citizens to the streets in protest. Economic collapses and protests can quickly spill over with violence.
In case you think I am exaggerating the danger, consider these recent words from columnist Frank Miele of Daily Inter Lake:
The Russian Revolution (which coincidentally was another October Revolution) started out with slogans and protests, too, just like “Occupy Wall Street.” Of course, life in 1917 Petrograd was a lot harder and a lot more desperate than it is today in Philadelphia or New York — but the ruffians on the streets don’t care about that because they don’t study history. If they did, they might be more apt to follow the Russian example and overthrow Obama’s czars who have imposed absurd and unwieldy regulations on banking and business instead of trying to destroy the capitalists who actually have the capacity to create wealth — and jobs.

Has Obama 'Lost the World' and Paved the Way for an Era of Global Conflict?

Has Barack Obama set the stage for nothing less than a war for the Free World? Frank Gaffney makes the argument that this is the case and that Obama's policies have paved the way for a fight to the death with Islamofascists, Muslim extremists driven by a totalitarian political ideology that is determined to destroy freedom and the people who love it:
Conventional wisdom has it that the 2012 presidential election will be all about the dismal economy, unemployment and the soaring deficit. That appears a safe bet because such matters touch the electorate, are much in the news at the moment and have indisputably become worse on Barack Obama's watch.
It seems increasingly likely, however, that the American people will have a whole lot more to worry about by next fall. Indeed, the way things are going, by November 2012, we may see the Middle East - and perhaps other parts of the planet - plunged into a cataclysmic war.

Barry Rubin, who claims to have written more thoroughly documented words and provided more factually based analysis explaining why Obama's Middle East policy is so bad than he has, writes that when he's often asked whether he believe this situation is caused by a deliberate, conscious effort to destroy U.S. interests, subvert Israel's existence, and promote anti-American Islamists on the part of the president and his closest colleagues ... he answers no:
... it is the result of ignorance, incompetence, and a ridiculous ideological approach that has nothing to do with reality. But, I add, it certainly says something that the policy is so bad that it makes people think that deliberate treason is a credible explanation.
... First, Obama thinks he's very knowledgeable about Islam, based on very limited personal contacts. Aside from his profound misunderstandings, his experiences come from Indonesia, the place where mainstream Islam was more moderate than in any other Muslim-majority country. And even that predates the infusion of Wahhabi and al-Qaeda radical thinking and theology even in that country.
In my opinion, the worst single blunder of Obama in the Middle East was his Cairo speech telling people in the region that they should perceive their primary identity as Muslim rather than in national terms. The idea that political Islam could be some asset for the United States -- rather than an enemy being held back largely by nationalism -- was like putting a big bomb next to a fragile dam. Yet Obama thought it was some act of far-sighted genius on his part because he could tame political Islam.
Second, Obama is a narrow-minded and arrogant man who understands little about international affairs or the profound differences of other cultures. He neither listens to ideas outside his own conception nor heeds proof that he has failed. A clever evil genius adjusts himself to circumstances, determined he will always look good. Obama is merely wrong and incompetent, openly displaying ignorance.Interestingly, Rubin's views and opinions dovetail nicely with what Gaffney has to say.

Obama/Holder Sharia update: 'Public School Dist. To Pay Muslim Teacher Over Mecca Trip'

When a public school district in the U.S. has to pay a Muslim teacher tens of thousands of dollars and establish a religious accommodation training program for refusing to let the instructor take three weeks off to make a pilgrimage to Mecca ... it leaves no doubt whatsoever that, as Pamela Geller suggests, the continued Islamization of America by the Obama/Holder Department of Justice has earned it recognition as the Department of Sharia:
... employers better get used to changing the way they operate their businesses in order to accommodate Muslim demands, or else.
Obama's Department of Shariah filed this outrageous lawsuit against the school district in December 2010, not to ensure the kids get a good education, mind you, but more importantly, to ensure that the Muslims get special rights and extraordinary accommodation. Obama's Department of Shariah sued to ensure the kids got the shaft but the teacher got the hajj.
This is the same DOJ's Eric Holder who spoke at the Muslim Advocates dinner a few months back and reassured Muslims of "DOJ's anti-bias focus."
This is the same DOJ that scuttled the prosecutions against Muslim Brotherhood-tied groups, i.e. CAIR et al.
This is the same DOJ that is creating Muslim majority legislative districts by converting a religious class into a racial one.
This is the same Eric Holder who sued a New Jersey county demanding that a correction facility change its rules to allow a Muslim prison guard to wear a khimar, an Islamic head covering, even though it's a choke hazard and she will be among prisoners.
The Department of Justice sponsored a booth at the Muslim Brotherhood front ISNA (Islamic Society of North America) convention underwritten by, among others, the Muslim Brotherhood/Hamas-linked CAIR.
Further, Obama's Department of Justice dropped the "charges" against the Muslims who blew up the USS Cole.

Geller failed to mention other examples of the Obama/Holder DOJ's appeasement of Islamists, such as eliminating all references to Islam from terror training materials that appears to be the outcome of the same event where Muslims asked the DOJ to criminalize criticism of Islam and re-educate FBI agents as well as cut back anti-terror spending.

Obama, The First Truly 'Un-American' President

Individualism and self-reliance (i.e. standing on one's own feet) have always been cornerstones of American values, and being American has, up to now, helped instill a sense of that individualism and self-reliance. And clearly, no one, let alone someone sitting in the Oval Office, could make this statement if they had any real appreciation for what America has traditionally been.

Some people hate the bailouts, others want free stuff, some are mad about jobs being shipped overseas, others are old hippies hoping for a sixties’ revival and that's before you even start talking about the Communists, Nazis, anarchists, and wannabe revolutionaries.

Even though Occupy Wall Street is sort of a smellier, dirtier, less focused, more violent bizarre-world version of the Tea Party, some of the people attending the protests do mean well -- and they do have at least one legitimate grievance. Both parties in power gave the thumbs up to TARP and the bailouts, which were really little more than "heads, we win; tails, the taxpayers lose" crony socialism. Whether it's banks, big agriculture, solar firms, General Motors, or Chevrolet, big business shouldn't be given our tax dollars. If they can only make it with an infusion of taxpayer dollars, then it's better for the country in the long run if they don't survive.

That being said, since Democratic Party is running a 2012 campaign centered around one of the Seven Deadly Sins, envy, they’ve worked hard to create a number of myths that someone needs to address.

1) Wall Street created the housing crisis! Most people don't understand the housing crisis and that's largely because a lot of people don't want the public to understand it.

There's a simple reason for that: 90% of the blame lies with government.

Here's a nutshell explanation of how the housing crisis was created. In 1994, during Bill Clinton's presidency, the Community Reinvestment Act was changed. The government started making banks an offer they couldn't refuse: Start making loans to "bad risks" or -- and this was the unspoken threat -- your bank might have an "accident." Maybe the regulators will accuse you of bias. Maybe you'll need a merger and get turned down. Who knows what could happen?

The implicit threat from the government, which was really all about politicians being able to brag that they'd helped get the home ownership rate up, worked wonders...

President Obama couldn't have chosen a more fitting slogan than "We can't wait" to promote his latest legislative elixir for our ailing economy. What could be cleverer than to employ double meaning in aid of doublespeak?

CBS News reports that Obama will use the phrase to sell his jobs bill and to justify his plan to take unilateral executive action on the economy.

Obama has enlisted the phrase to argue that America can't wait on the private sector to generate economic growth. He can't wait on the people to get up to speed with his superior wisdom or for Congress to rubber-stamp his latest destructive scheme. He will not be denied; he will not be delayed; he will not wait.

So he "is going to begin a series of executive branch actions that will not require action from Congress -- or the assent of Republicans," including a "major overhaul" of the government's refinance program for federally guaranteed mortgages to assist homeowners who haven't been able to secure refinancing.

How many times do we have to go through this song and dance, in which the executive branch arbitrarily alters already-existing contracts? How many times will this policy have to fail before Obama quits trying it?

This is a perfect scam for Obama. Just as we watch the Occupy Wall Street protesters condemning the banks for actions forced on them by liberals, Obama is again forcing them into similar actions so that the protesters will have something to protest next year.

Audacious is no longer an adequate word to describe this president. He forced through his first stimulus through crisis-leveraged fear-mongering and then never really used but a fraction of that money for so-called stimulus purposes. Why would anyone still believe a thing he says?

Who is he to tell us "we can't wait" on the proper constitutional safeguards against such precipitous executive action? He is not America's king. The Framers deliberately placed safeguards in our system to prevent such capricious executive action.

Where does Obama get the authority to force banks to make loans on terms he prefers, irrespective of the sound banking practices that guide such decisions? The answer is that he doesn't believe he needs authority, only "noble" intentions.

Just like the liberals who crammed through their affordable housing policy, he believes that people ought to get a break. It doesn't matter that most of them won't be able to pay back these loans. What matters is that Obama wants to take money from people who he believes have too much and give it to those who he believes don't have enough. To him, that is the highest purpose of government. Call it "economic justice," because that's what he and his fellow radicals call it...

The old idea of open borders is also over. The notion is discredited that teaching new arrivals multiculturalism and ethnic chauvinism, providing them massive subsidies, and ignoring federal statutes was both more humane and more efficacious than the old melting pot of our youth. Solyndra was the epitaph of the lie of "millions of green jobs." Obama will never utter that now bankrupt phrase again. "Green" means millions of dollars in printed federal money for each job produced, but even far more millions to crony capitalists who hid their malfeasance with hope and change sloganeering.
The Facade Peels Away
Independents are starting to see the end of the latest liberal experiment. Society simply cannot continue paying a half-trillion-dollars to import gas and oil, and hundreds of billions to subsidize inefficient wind and solar, even as known U.S. coal, gas, oil, shale, and tar sands reserves soar -- but remain vastly underutilized. The administration's Energy Department (e.g., gas should reach European levels, people cannot be trusted to buy the right light bulbs, California farms will blow away) is now simply the sibling of the EPA.
Raging Against the Machine
Soon even some mainstream Democrats will grasp the lie. Obamism not only does not work; its fiscal, energy, cultural, and foreign policies result in Greek-like stasis and chaos. It hinges on scapegoating those who say it does not work. Its current anger is sort of like the furor directed at those who were either trying to change or depart from the ossified medieval Church, when altruistic doctrine hides penances, exemptions, and vast estates. Again, all of the above is why Obama's target and excuse lists grow and the old calls for civility and unity fade. How can a Democratic president, with a Democratic-controlled House and Senate for two years, keep faulting the present mess on either an ex-president who left almost three years ago, or a Republican-controlled House of some nine months tenure? ...

In sum, there is panic. Obamacare, near-zero interest rates, more environmental and fiscal regulations, government takeovers, bailouts, and stimulus, nearly $5 trillion in debt, $1.6 trillion in annual deficits, vast increases in food stamps and unemployment insurance, and hectoring the private sector -- all that and more did not restore prosperity. More likely we ruined a natural recovery -- if 9.1% unemployment, anemic GDP growth, ruinous debt, precipitous declines in the standard of living, and the return of the old record misery index are any indication. All Obama in 2012 is left with is the old trifecta of "Bush did it," "they" will cut your Social Security, and a subtle racism fuels all opposition.
There is a deer-in-the-headlights paralysis in all those who believed that you could get a government subsidized $100,000 loan, receive easy As in environmental studies or sociology, buy a prestigious BA certificate, and then enter the lucrative world of the government bureaucracy -- teaching, administering, suing, and regulating. ...Read the whole thing.

It has been a long time coming, but the Obama Administration has now officially banned the truth. Deputy U.S. Attorney General James Cole declared Wednesday at a conference in Washington that he had “recently directed all components of the Department of Justice to re-evaluate their training efforts in a range of areas, from community outreach to national security.” This “reevaluation” will remove all references to Islam in connection with any examination of Islamic jihad terror activity. The Obama Administration has now placed off-limits any investigation of the beliefs, motives and goals of jihad terrorists.
Dwight C. Holton, former U.S. Attorney for the District of Oregon, emphasized that training materials for the FBI would be purged of everything politically incorrect: “I want to be perfectly clear about this: training materials that portray Islam as a religion of violence or with a tendency towards violence are wrong, they are offensive, and they are contrary to everything that this president, this attorney general and Department of Justice stands for. They will not be tolerated.”
Holton said that he had spoken with Attorney General Eric Holder about FBI training materials that Holton claimed were “egregiously false,” and that Holder “is firmly committed to making sure that this is over….we’re going to fix it.” Holton said that this “fix” was particularly urgent because the rejected training materials “pose a significant threat to national security, because they play into the false narrative propagated by terrorists that the United States is at war with Islam.”
Cole suggested that these training materials had done damage domestically as well: “One of the many, tragic legacies of 9/11 has been an increase in prejudice, discrimination and hatred directed against persons of the Muslim and Sikh faiths and those who are, or who are mistakenly perceived to be, of Arab or South Asian descent. Some have wrongly sought to blame the horror of 9/11 on Arab-American, Muslim American, Sikh-American and South Asian American communities. It has led to attacks against places of worship and other hate crimes, to job discrimination, and to the tragic harassment of children in our schools.”
After sketching out this horror tale, Cole declared: “We must never allow our sorrow and anger at the senseless attack of 9/11 to blind us to the great gift of our diversity.” And this, he said, must involve a rejection of the stereotyping of Muslims: “All of us must reject any suggestion that every Muslim is a terrorist or that every terrorist is a Muslim. As we have seen time and again – from the Oklahoma City bombing to the recent attacks in Oslo, Norway – no religion or ethnicity has a monopoly on terror.” It was George Bush, he said, who after 9/11 “made clear to the nation that these terrorist acts were committed by individuals who distort the peaceful religion of Islam,” and now all government analysis of jihad terror would reflect that perspective.
Of course, the controversial training materials did not really claim that all Muslims are terrorists or that all terrorists are Muslims, and it is noteworthy that Cole had to resort to dismissive caricatures to make his point. For in taking this course, the Obama Administration is bowing to pressure from the Hamas-linked Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR) and other Islamic advocacy groups. In a Los Angeles Times op-ed that appeared on the same day as the conference in Washington, Salam al-Marayati of the Muslim Public Affairs Council (MPAC) roundly criticized existing training materials about jihad terror and demanded that the FBI and the Justice Department “issue a clear and unequivocal apology to the Muslim American community; establish a thorough and transparent vetting process in selecting its trainers and materials; invite experts who have no animosity toward any religion to conduct training about any religious community to law enforcement.”
Al-Marayati complained that training materials reflected “bigoted and inflammatory views on Muslims, including claims that ‘devout’ Muslims are more prone toward violence, that Islam aims to ‘transform a country’s culture into 7th century Arabian ways,’ that Islamic charitable giving is a ‘funding mechanism for combat’ and that the prophet Muhammad was a ‘violent cult leader.’”
In this al-Marayati was simply repeating talking points from an “expose” of FBI training materials by hard-Left journalist Spencer Ackerman in Wired, who has been conducting a campaign for some time to get the bureau to purge its terrorism training seminars of any hint of the truth about the global jihad and Islamic supremacism. Yet like virtually all Leftist and Islamic supremacist critics of anti-jihad and anti-terror material, Ackerman and al-Marayati take for granted that such assertions are false, without bothering to explain how or why. Apparently they believe that their falsity is so self-evident as to require no demonstration; unfortunately, however, there is considerable evidence that they are true, and that in banning such materials, the Obama Administration has essentially banned the truth...

Civil unrest is President Barack Obama's crutch, his comfort zone, and his trump card. That's why he has encouraged the "Occupy Wall Street" protest and its progeny across the country, despite significant political dangers to him for doing so. Closer looks at Obama's career roots and at the protesters' behaviors help explain both why the protests are worrisome developments and why the president actually likes them.
First, it helps to understand just how radical most of these protesters are -- and just how obscene. Clearly, they are mostly socialist or communist in orientation. And reports are rampant about the lewdness, vileness, and illegality that has marked the Wall Street "occupation" zone, including plenteous drugs, public nudity and sex, and defecation on police cars. A lot of this isn't free speech; it's open law-breaking.
So why does Obama applaud it, when he repeatedly castigated Tea Party demonstrators who lawfully secured permits, usually behaved with remarkable decorum, and cleaned up after themselves?
The answer is easy: This is Obama's milieu. This is how he was trained. As Ryan Lizza explained in a definitive piece in the New Republic -- a liberal magazine, not a right-wing/anti-Obama hit factory -- Obama's intellectual roots and career choices made him a student of, and later actually an instructor in, the particular mass-movement methods taught by the late, radical, Saul Alinsky. The sort of unrest seen in the anti-Wall Street movement comes directly out of Alinsky's secular bible called Rules for Radicals.
"The first step in community organization is community disorganization," wrote Alinsky. "The disruption of the present organization is the first step toward community organization…. The organizer dedicated to changing the life of a particular community must first rub raw the resentments of the people of the community…. When those prominent in the status quo turn and label you an 'agitator' they are completely correct, for that is, on one word, your function -- to agitate to the point of conflict."
Alinsky hardly was squeamish about using filth to get his way. "If your organization is too tiny even for noise, stink up the place." Later, he gave a fictitious but oh-so-literal example of one way to do it: He suggested that protesters gorge on beans before occupying a public building so that their -- uh, their natural emissions -- would literally create a stench. "In a fight almost anything goes," he wrote. "It almost reaches the point where you stop to apologize if a chance blow lands above the belt." Alinsky openly and exuberantly belittled the notion of ethics. All that mattered, he said, was whether your side is losing or winning. Only afterwards do you try to find an excuse for your illicit behavior: "The tenth rule of the ethics of means and ends is that you do what you can with what you have and [then] clothe it with moral garments."
To be clear, nobody suggests Obama is personally orchestrating the various "Occupy" demonstrations. Then again, he doesn't need to. The Occupiers are receiving financial help or organizational muscle from many of his associates or major supporters, including several union bosses of the sort who just weeks ago pledged to "take these [SOBs] out" of commission. Despite Obama's eloquent words earlier this year demanding milder rhetoric and more carefully calibrated political actions, he has not uttered a peep in admonishment of the increasingly virulent language, not to mention lawless actions such as attempting to physically "take over" public buildings.
Critics have noted that the protesters often can't even define what they are protesting, or that their "issues" are such a diverse hodgepodge as to be unintelligible. Again, this is straight from Alinsky's playbook. The organizer, he wrote, "should search for and use the wrong reasons to achieve the right goals. He should be able, with skill and calculation, to use irrationality in his attempts to progress to a rational world. For a variety of reasons the organizer must develop multiple issues…. Multiple issues mean constant action and life."
What Obama particularly likes about this disruptive movement is that its only universally acknowledged target is the one he himself provided: Wall Street. He's the one who repeatedly gave the marching order against corporate bogeymen. As Alinsky wrote in his most famous rule of all: "Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it." This is exactly what Obama himself tried to do as a community organizer in Chicago. It is what he has done every step of the way as campaigner and as president, always finding someone to blame or be against: George W. Bush, greedy corporations, millionaires, Republican congressmen, or people who "cling to guns or religion."
The problem with Saul Alinsky -- and for the protesters who still, knowingly or unknowingly, do his work -- was that nothing was sacred. Rules for Radicals is, in Alinsky's own words, officially dedicated to "the first radical known to man who rebelled against the establishment and did it so effectively that he at least won his own kingdom -- Lucifer."
Alinsky seemed to mean the dedication to be funny. But it's no laughing matter, and neither are protests that violate common decency.

Historians spend their life looking backwards. Futurists spend their life looking forward. My goal has been to blend the two disciplines into one seamless endeavor.

When I was studying to become a Historian I came to a point where I had to declare a field of special study. This is where my obsession with current events intersected with my love for History. This is when I realized that current events are the forever unfolding always receding conveyor belt of reality. This is when I first verbalized the perception that as the future slides into the present and the present slides into the past our lives are the history of the future. History tells us that Imperial Republics fall. We have the examples of Athens and all the other grasping Greek republics that followed her. We have Rome the example always deferred to of a republic that allowed empire to stifle freedom. The list however does not end there, we can look at Venice and the various republics of Renaissance Italy and of course the First Republic of France which was birthed in blood and died in fire. The siren song of empire has seduced republics down through history to trade in their freedom for power which eventually cost them both their freedom and the power.

Is it time to re-think America's international military commitments? Though settled by European kingdoms seeking empires the United States wasn't founded to become an empire. Individuals fought against the empire building tyrants until their determination and resolve won independence against all odds. Then, although the world was filled with despotic kings, our Framers gave us a Republic. However, it is worth remembering the exchange that took place between Ben Franklin, the elder statesman of the Constitutional Convention and an unknown woman. As he left Independence Hall he was asked, "Well Doctor what we have got a republic or a monarchy?" Appealing to his legendary wit Franklin replied, "A republic, if you can keep it."

We and our ancestors have been blessed by the Republic for hundreds of years. We've benefited from the liberty to live our lives and pursue our happiness. Now we've arrived at the "if you can keep it" phase of our journey.

At the cost of hundreds of billions and thousands of lives we doubled-down in Afghanistan. At the cost of over a trillion and thousands of lives we conquered Iraq and deposed Saddam. We spearheaded the bombing campaign in Libya. Our drones strike suspected enemies far and near. Troops have been dispatched to central Africa. And the perennial war drums still beat at the very mention of Iran.

We have sent our fellow citizens to fight long hard slogs in countries whose names are the very synonym for Quagmire. As our economy was being outsourced, our debt monetized, and our infrastructure crumbled we meekly followed our leaders deeper into thankless nation-building campaigns in nation after nation including one that's resisted and foiled every empire from Alexander to Moscow.

Instead of using our cruise missiles and stealth capabilities we fell into the trap announced and laid by Bin Laden. Whose strategy was as Lawrence Wright told us in his seminal book Looming Towers to, "lure America into the same trap the Soviets had fallen into: Afghanistan." How did he plan to do it? "To continually attack until the U.S. forces invaded; then the mujahedeen would swarm upon them and bleed them until the entire American empire fell from its wounds. It had happened to Great Britain and to the Soviet Union. He was certain it would happen to America."
There were twists and turns on our journey from republic to empire.

George Washington warned us to avoid foreign entanglements. Thomas Jefferson outlined the essential principles of our government which included this advice concerning foreign affairs, "peace, commerce, and honest friendship with all nations entangling alliances with none."
For more than one hundred years we concentrated on using our liberty to build a mighty nation. Then the temptation of empire captured the American imagination in the 1890s, a time when Europe was rushing to gobble up the last places open for colonization or carving up those areas unsuited for colonies into spheres of influence. Under President McKinley the United States entered the scramble for colonies in the Spanish-American War winning Puerto Pico and the Philippines.

Teddy Roosevelt followed McKinley walking softly while carrying a big stick in the form of the Great White Fleet and multiple intrusions into the sovereignty of Latin American countries. After being re-elected on the promise to keep America neutral President Wilson proclaimed America must fight World War I to "Make the World Safe for Democracy." An adventure which cost over 300, 000 casualties and which actually expanded the empires of England, France, and Japan. After the war, the Congress of the United States re-asserted control by rejecting the international entanglements of the League of Nations Treaty returning to the traditional American foreign policy of freedom of trade and freedom of action.

Under FDR America fought an undeclared naval war against Germany in 1940 and 41 and imposed draconian embargoes against Japan prior to Pearl Harbor. Once we were attacked we had to defend ourselves. However, when World War II ended not with the defeat of totalitarianism but instead with the expansion of it in Eastern Europe the guiding light of American foreign policy seems to have been permanently extinguished. As the British Empire sailed into the sunset we filled the void taking up the role of leader of the West in the Cold War. For forty-six years we faced the Soviets until they collapsed. Then instead of coming home we spread our wings even further embracing Eastern Europe promising to send young Americans to fight for Estonia and Slovakia among others, and so the sun never set upon the American Empire.

Not only is it against the founding principles of America to establish and maintain an empire of far-flung outposts, we cannot afford to be the Policeman of the world. We cannot afford to build nations for people who don't want them. How did a peaceful nation of free citizens become the advocate of pre-emptive attack and endless occupation? How much blood and treasure will we invest in Iraq, and what will be the result? A Shi'a ally for Iran. The war in Afghanistan was obviously defensive and retaliatory in nature given the Taliban's support for Al Qaeda. But ten years later what's it all about? Are we really dedicated to building a modern nation for tribal people who have no sense of nationhood? Or have we walked into the same trap that brought the Soviets to their knees?

Currently the United States has armed forces in over 130 countries. We're committed to defend most of these countries against aggression. Where were all these allies on 9-11? Where are they in Afghanistan? Why do we have treaties binding us to go to war to defend those who refuse to support us when we're attacked? If these policies are counter-productive are there any alternatives?

Close the foreign bases and bring our troops home. Station them on the border to protect us from the on-going invasion of illegal immigrants who're overloading our systems. We can seal and secure the mountainous border between the Koreas and we can secure our own borders if we have the wisdom and the will. If we need to project American power use the carrier battle-groups designed for that purpose. Protect America and rebuild our infrastructure instead of everyone else's. When asked what to do with the American Military after World War I Will Rogers said, "Get 'em all home, add to their number, add to their training, then just sit tight with a great feeling of security and just read about foreign wars. That's the best thing in the world to do with them."

If we want to save the Republic we need to lose the empire or we can cling to the empire and lose both.

Americans for Prosperity’s Phil Kerpen has released a new book: Democracy Denied: How Obama is Ignoring You and Bypassing Congress to Radically Transform America – And How to Stop Him.

In this work, Kerpen lays out the Obama Administration’s serial abuse–in fact, outright violation–of our Constitutional republican form of government. President Obama is using the panoply of federal Departments, Commissions, Agencies and Boards to illegally force feed us new “laws.” Yet they aren’t laws at all, as Obama is bypassing Congress and the legislative process. They are being foisted upon us by executive branch regulatory fiat. This is not democracy but dictatorship, as Kerpen’s excellent tome exhaustively proves.

Here is but a sampling of the research he presents to make his case.

Chapter II: Democrats can’t pass the energy sector-assault that is Cap & Trade? No problem, President Obama’s Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) will start imposing large swaths of it as if it has.
Chapter IV: Democrats can’t pass the workplace-assault that is the Big Union-payoff Card
Check? No problem, President Obama’s National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) and Department of Labor will start imposing large swaths of it as if it has.
Chapter V: ObamaCare–which did get shoved, bribed and cajoled through Congress–left WIDE latitude for Health & Human Services (HHS) regulators to go to town on our health care sector.
And here’s a shocker; they already are.
Chapter VI: The Dodd-Frank financial sector-attack slipped through Congress under cover of economic crash-fueled panic and also left WIDE latitude for a host of regulatory agencies to go to town. Shocker– so are they. And the list goes on, and on, and on…

Today I want to focus on Chapter III, which covers the Federal Communications Commission (FCC)’s December 21 illegal takeover of the Internet so as to then illegally impose Network Neutrality. This was a rerun of the FCC’s first attempt to impose Net Neutrality, which the D.C. Circuit Court unanimously threw out because the Commission must first wait for Congress to write a law giving them such authority. Congress still has not yet done this.

Net Neutrality is an egregious regulatory assault on the Internet sector, which has quickly become 1/6th of the nation’s economy, and it continues to rise. That’s precisely because it has thus far remained regulation-free. You want jobs? How about 3.3% tech sector unemployment, juxtaposed with 9.1% nationwide? It seems a government-free system is working quite well for the Internet.

And Net Neutrality is an alleged “fix” to a non-existent problem. Even the most virulent pro-Net Neutrality folks begrudgingly admit there are exactly ZERO Net Neutrality violations currently occurring. But rather than address any violations on a case-by-case basis, Obama’s FCC has jammed through an oppressive, everyone’s-guilty-with-no-chance-to-prove-innocence regulatory nightmare.

And Net Neutrality may very well be the least popular of President Obama’s myriad fiat jobs. Ninety-five 2010 Congressional candidates signed a pro-Net Neutrality pledge, and all ninety-five lost. That helps explain why Congress has never given Net Neutrality a vote or why President Obama’s FCC rushed to ram it through just after this 0-for-95 election.

The FCC has now contradicted its own rushed vote, slow-walking Net Neutrality’s imposition and taking nearly nine months to finally file it with the federal register (where regulations go to get imposed), perhaps in the hope that the anger over their Internet authoritarianism would have by now dissipated. Let’s show them it has not.

The fight to undo the FCC’s power grab currently resides in the United States Senate, as they have before them the House-passed Congressional Review Act Resolution of Disapproval, which will overturn the FCC’s illegal Net Neutrality action. The bad news is the Senate has but a finite period of time to act (and the illegal order goes into effect on November 20). The good news is because of this short and closing window, only 51 votes are required for passage. No filibusters allowed. It appears all 47 Senate Republicans are on board, ready to say Aye, which means we need four Democrats. That’s where the fun begins.

23 Democrat Senate seats are up for election in 2012. Some of the current sitters are retiring. Many are running to re-up, several in swing or even Republican-leaning states.

Let us peruse some of these up-in-2012 Democrats, folks who should vote to undo Net Neutrality if they’d like to keep the gigs they currently have.

Let us begin with West Virginia Democrat Senator Joe Manchin, who ran for special election last year sounding an awful lot like an anti-regulatory, Less Government warrior. In a campaign advertisement, he famously shot the Cap & Trade bill with a rifle. In this ad, he also said, “I’ll take on Washington–and this Administration–to get the federal government off of our backs.” What better issue to take on and start peeling Washington off our backs than to vote to repeal this Administration’s illegal, authoritarian Net Neutrality Internet power grab?

Then there are these Democratic Senators:
Arkansas’ Mark Pryor
He has, in the past, shown a bit of an anti-regulatory proclivity. Here’s an opportunity for him to rollback not just unnecessary, but illegal government control of 1/6th of the American economy.
Nebraska’s Ben Nelson
He talks a good conservative game in this conservative state, but at the end of the day usually votes terribly. See (amongst many others): ObamaCare.
Florida’s Bill Nelson
Represents a swing state (See: 2000’s Presidential overtime session) that just last year elected Tea Party Senator Marco Rubio.
Michigan’s Debbie Stabenow
Michigan’s been a Donkey stronghold for a while–until last year. In 2010, Michigan elected a Republican Governor and Elephant majorities in both the state House and Senate.
Missouri’s Claire McCaskill
She represents a swing (and trending Red) state that just elected Republican Senator Roy Blunt.
Montana’s John Tester
He represents a state that in Obama’s watershed, anti-Republican 2008 victory still went to Senator John McCain.
Louisiana’s Mary Landrieu
She’s not up for reelection until 2014, but she has been good on job-killing, price-raising energy sector regulations. Will she be good on job-killing, price-raising Internet sector regulations?
Virginia’s Mark Warner
He’s also not up for reelection until 2014, but he made a mint investing early in tech companies. Perhaps that understanding of tech economic reality will lead him to vote to protect the sector from Net Neutrality. It certainly should.

2010’s Tea Party-led off-year electoral revolution was historic and huge, and it will, from many indications, pale in comparison to 2012’s Presidential-year looming grassroots wave for Less Government. The American people want less of everything from Washington–taxes, spending, and regulation. The only thing they want more of is accountability.

The Obama Administration’s Net Neutrality power grab represents everything against which Americans voted last year and against which they will again vote in the next. It also represents everything about which Phil Kerpen has written in his excellent book. When it comes to their vote on undoing the FCC’s Net Neutrality power grab, Senate Democrats need to remember the will of their constituents. They need to remember how their will was embodied in last year’s landmark, landslide election, and they need to note that 2010 is looking more and more like a warm-up for 2012.

And reading Kerpen’s tome couldn’t hurt.

I was in downtown Baltimore Monday morning taking care of some business, so I thought I’d stroll a block over and check out the “Occupy Baltimore” crowd. Well, the word “crowd” might be an overstatement. There were about as many people as there would be homeless people on a normal day, only with tents and literature rather than Starbucks cups for holding spare change. And it’s the literature I found most interesting.

Among the literature I picked up off of their table was one titled “Security Statement.” What it said, and what it implied, was rather disturbing:

"As the Security Committee of Occupy Baltimore, we release this statement to ensure the safety of our newly forming, delicate yet strong community.

Sexual abuse and assault are dehumanizing acts for the survivor as well as the abuser. It strips people of their right to safety, dignity, and respect, basic values which embody many of the intentions behind Occupy Baltimore. As a vibrant community, we recognize and give power to these values and the rights of survivors."

OK, saying you’re against “sexual abuse and assault” isn’t controversial, but do you really have to say it? Why isn’t it understood? As it turns out, that’s just the beginning of the weird. The entire “Security Statement” is about sexual assault and abuse.

"Sexual abuse or assault at Occupy Baltimore is in violation of our values, and will not be tolerated. It is an explicit policy of Occupy Baltimore to prohibit abuse by any members of the community upon another person. Violation of this policy will result in the abuser no longer being welcome at the occupation."

So sexual abuse or assault are against “explicit policy” and will get you shunned? What about arrested? Those things are crimes, after all. Shouldn’t Occupy Baltimore, like every other group or individual, encourage people to contact the police to get these predators off the street? You’d think so, but you’d think wrong: READ IT ALL

It’s Time to Claim the Swing Voters

I’ve been examining the messages coming out of the Occupy movement the past few days. I’ve discovered three subsets of people that seem to be making their voices heard. However, let me begin with “The 53%”. Take some time to really read over several of these pages. As you can see, these are Americans who pretty much have lived the bootstraps life.

Some are doing incredibly well, some aren’t. But none of them are complaining.

Now, to “The 99%”. If you haven’t already seen these photos, take some time to look over a bunch of them — really take your time. Think how many groups you can place them into. I see two sets of people in these photos.

The first is a group of people who have made some really poor choices in life. As far as I’m concerned, if you are a drug addict, you made that choice. If you had 4 kids and didn’t plan for a doomsday scenario, then you shouldn’t have had 4 kids. This is the group of people who abandoned personal responsibility. Now life has taken a bad turn, and they are complaining about the results of their own behavior. Included in this group are people who went to college and are saddled with enormous debt — yet some (not all) chose a major that anyone could have told them (and probably did) would make them unemployable. You don’t spend a gazillion dollars to be a classics major and think that debt is going to be paid off anytime soon… if at all.
Somebody told them to do what makes them happy, but forgot to tell them that they aren’t necessarily entitled to do what makes them happyand get paid well for it.

The second group of people are just victims of really bad luck. There are many of these stories, of which this is a good example. These are our fellow citizens who, for whatever reason, really deserve our compassion because circumstances have developed that place them in crisis. I’m going to call them The Swing Voters.

Both of these groups are identifying with the “Occupy” movement. You would expect that from the first group, but not the Swing Voters. The first group we’ve seen before, but the Swing Voters are the ones that hold the key to the future of the nation. This group doesn’t seem like it contains people who are complainers by nature. They don’t come off to me as feeling entitled. They seem more like regular folks who represent the portions of our system that are broken.
Their messaging is one of frustration and fear — bordering on despair.

This is the group that really needs to be listened to. They have legitimate complaints. They are where America is failing and the policymakers that address this group’s concerns, and can offer pragmatic solutions, will win their votes. I don’t know what those solutions are because many of the problems are wide-ranging, but this group is who we need to focus on.

These people are being co-opted by the anarchists, anti-capitalists, and anti-Semites of the “Occupy” movement. They do not feel their voices are being heard by any of the dunderheads in Washington, or in their state legislatures. If nobody reaches out to these individuals, they will swing Left. That will swing the 2012 election.

Think back to the late 70’s and Jimmy Carter and re ad over the famous “malaise speech”. The Swing Voters are feeling that malaise, and right now, they are expressing it by identifying with The 99%. Any other candidate that steps forward as President Reagan did, and can reclaim the confidence of that group, wins in 2012. When I first heard Herman Cain’s admonishment to the OWS crowd, I thought he said exactly the right thing. In retrospect, I think he blew a great opportunity. What he should’ve said was, “I hear you. I won’t take any money from corporations for my campaign, and instead you and I will address the critical areas where America needs reform. America is the greatest country on Earth and you are her children. She will not abandon you and neither will I. We did it thirty years ago and we can do it again”.
Done. Winner.

And you know what else? Corporations should engage in some genuine strategic retrenching. Doing so, even at short-term cost, will act as insurance for the long-term because they’ll get hammered under four more years of Obama.

Corporations need to engage in some serious crisis management regarding their public image. However, they also need to realign their corporate cultures so as to make employees feel like partners. There is also a reasonable argument to repatriate some jobs. Yes, it may mean higher labor expenses in the near-term, but consider this: If an American loses his job to somebody overseas, and doesn’t find new employment, at what point does his inability to consume at his prior level directly impact not only his former employer, but the entire nation (especially when multiplied by the many millions whose jobs have been shipped overseas).

Who are the people whose jobs are most likely to be repatriated? Who are the people most likely to benefit from realigned corporate cultures? Who are the people most likely to reassess their opinion of corporations if proper crisis communications are put into place?

The Swing Voters.

They are there for the taking, and right now, they’ve been taken by the Left.

It is the nature of protest movements that they must either expand or wither away: they can never stand still.

The current Wall Street protests, originally conceived of as an "occupation," are attempting to
maintain their momentum by expanding their numbers, occupying more territory, and generating clashes with the police. They are now approaching the point of critical mass, where they will either swell into a mass movement that brings about significant change, as did the Civil Rights movement of the 1950s, or simply dissolve and disappear.

Protest movements operate out of their own internal dynamic. They swell in numbers in response to perceived injustices; they fade away if they cannot retain momentum. As the great social psychologist Elias Canetti wrote of gatherings of this sort, "[e]verything here depends on movement" (Crowds and Power, 1984, p. 30). Absent a sense of movement toward a goal, the Occupy Wall Street protest and similar protests in other cities will soon disintegrate.

Having gathered significant numbers in New York and other cities, the protest now finds itself at this critical juncture. The crowds that have gathered to protest "corporate greed," as they imagine it, are of necessity moving beyond occupation and toward a more aggressive stage of protest. The "occupation," in other words, is no longer an occupation, but instead an assault.

In New York, Boston, and Washington, it is clear that the protests have entered this second stage. On September 24, Occupy New York began to turn violent as police were forced to control the disorderly crowd, and eighty protesters were arrested. On October 5, also in New York, hundreds of protesters stormed a police barricade, forcing police to respond with pepper spray and leading to further arrests. Moving from its sanctioned location in Zuccotti Park, the mob has attempted to shut down traffic and cause disruption in heavily frequented parts of Manhattan, including the entrance to the New York Stock Exchange and the approach to the Brooklyn Bridge. It has carried its protest to the Upper-East-Side residences of prominent New Yorkers, particularly those associated with conservative politics, such as Rupert Murdoch and David Koch.

It is not just in New York that the protests have turned violent. On October 11, one hundred protesters were arrested in Boston when they refused to comply with police instructions to leave the Rose Kennedy Greenway. Similar violence has been reported in Seattle and Washington, where protesters stormed the Smithsonian's National Air and Space Museum.

Granted, many of these young protesters seem clueless as to what they are about. Many seem to be protesting for the sake of doing so, as if the protests were a pleasant little summer camp and not a serious political statement. But there is also the sense of darker forces at work behind the scenes. The hapless young people who initiated Occupy Wall Street have been joined by hard-line leftists, union thugs, and lawless radicals intent on inciting violence. As was the case with the Arab Spring, zealous revolutionaries have their eye on what may have begun as an incoherent gathering of disaffected youths. These more organized elements are determined to move the protests toward a third stage.

What is the third stage? Lawlessness, violence, and terrorism.

This is not the first time that a peaceful protest movement has turned violent. In the spring of 1969, at the height of the antiwar protests in the United States, I had occasion to meet Mark Rudd just at the time when Rudd, along with other leaders of Students for a Democratic Society, were organizing the Weathermen, a leftist terror organization. Of my fleeting encounter with Rudd I remember little, except that he was so completely cocooned within the stilted rhetoric of the left that he seemed more an automaton than a person.

The Weatherman "Declaration of a State of War" against the United States makes for interesting reading. The Declaration was the ideological basis for a series of bombings of government and corporate buildings, including a bombing of the Pentagon on May 19, 1972. It was originally proclaimed by Bernardine Dohrn, wife of Bill Ayers and confidante of our current president.

In this declaration of struggle against "Amerikan imperialism," the Weathermen called for nothing less than "destruction of the [American] empire." The key passage in the Declaration is the statement that "[t]ens of thousands have learned that protests and marches don't do it.
Revolutionary violence is the only way." The Declaration emphasizes that at the critical point in its development, the protest movement must turn to violence in order to sustain itself. It must move "underground," where it will become a terror organization. It revels in the possibility of tens of thousands of alienated "kids" -- "making love, smoking dope and loading guns."

As this passage makes clear, SDS had reached the point where it decided, quite consciously, to embrace violence. This was the third phase of the antiwar movement, and it was inevitable, given the waning interest in the movement following the 1960s. Most young people had better things to do than to "blame the system," and as they turned their backs on the left, the SDS responded by intensifying its efforts. Thus, the Weatherman Underground was born.

Occupy Wall Street has not yet reached this point of development, and hopefully it will disperse before doing so. But, clearly, it is evolving beyond a small ground sleeping out in the park and making its points with signs, speeches, and internet posts. It is now moving toward the second stage, where larger numbers or dramatic acts of protest are necessary to sustain momentum.
What happens next bears watching closely, as does the response of the president, ex-Speaker Pelosi, and others on the left. Encouraged by leftists in the Democratic Party and funded by left-leaning nonprofit organizations and celebrity contributors, Occupy Wall Street may in time morph into something resembling the radical factions of the late 1960s and 1970s.

If they do so, those who have aided and encouraged them should be held accountable. Then it will not be just Ayers and Dohrn with blood on their hands. It will be their young protégé in the White House as well.

The Scapegoat Strategy Obama now blames people instead of events.

What do you do if you can’t run on your record — on 9 percent unemployment, stagnant growth, and ruinous deficits as far as the eye can see? How to run when you are asked whether Americans are better off than they were four years ago and you are compelled to answer no?

Play the outsider. Declare yourself the underdog. Denounce Washington as if the electorate hasn’t noticed that you’ve been in charge of it for nearly three years.

But above all: Find villains.

President Obama first tried finding excuses, blaming America’s dismal condition on Japanese supply-chain interruptions, the Arab Spring, European debt, and various acts of God.

Didn’t work. Sounds plaintive, defensive. Lacks fight, which is what Obama’s base lusts for above all.

Hence Obama’s new strategy: Don’t whine, blame. Attack. Indict. Accuse. Whom? The rich — and their Republican protectors — for wrecking America.

In Obama’s telling, it’s the refusal of the rich to “pay their fair share” that jeopardizes Medicare. If millionaires don’t pony up, schools will crumble. Oil-drilling tax breaks are costing teachers their jobs. Corporate loopholes will gut medical research.

It’s crude. It’s Manichaean. And the Left loves it. As a matter of math and logic, however, it’s ridiculous. Obama’s most coveted tax hike — an extra 3 to 4.6 percent for millionaires and billionaires (weirdly defined as individuals making over $200,000) — would have reduced last year’s deficit from $1.29 trillion to $1.21 trillion. Nearly a rounding error. The oil-drilling breaks cover less than half a day’s federal spending. You could collect Obama’s favorite tax loophole — depreciation for corporate jets — for 100 years and it wouldn’t cover one month of Medicare, whose insolvency is a function of increased longevity, expensive new technology, and wasteful defensive medicine caused by an insane malpractice system.

After three years, Obama’s self-proclaimed transformative social policies have yielded a desperately weak economy. What to do? Take the low road: Plutocrats are bleeding the country, and I shall rescue you from them.

Problem is, this kind of populist demagoguery is more than intellectually dishonest. It’s dangerous. Obama is opening a Pandora’s box. Popular resentment, easily stoked, is less easily controlled, especially when the basest of instincts are granted legitimacy by the nation’s leader.

Exhibit A. On Tuesday, the Democrat-controlled Senate passed punitive legislation over China’s currency. If not stopped by House Speaker John Boehner, it might have led to a trade war — a 21st-century Smoot-Hawley. Obama knows this. He has shown no appetite for a reckless tariff war. But he set the tone. Once you start hunting for villains, they can be found anywhere, particularly if they are conveniently foreign.

Exhibit B. Democratic Sen. Dick Durbin rails against Bank of America for announcing a $5 a month debit card fee. Obama echoes the opprobrium with fine denunciations of banks and their hidden fees — except that this $5 fee is not hidden. It’s perfectly transparent.

Yet here is a leading Democratic senator advocating a run on a major (and troubled) bank — after two presidents and two Congresses sunk billions of taxpayer dollars to save failing banks. Not because they were deserving or virtuous but because they are necessary. Without banks, there is no lending. Without lending, there is no business. Without business, there are no jobs.

Exhibit C. To the villainy-of-the-rich theme emanating from Washington, a child is born: Occupy Wall Street. Starbucks-sipping, Levi’s-clad, iPhone-clutching protesters denounce corporate America even as they weep for Steve Jobs, corporate titan, billionaire eight times over.

These indignant indolents saddled with their $50,000 student loans and English degrees have decided that their lack of gainful employment is rooted in the malice of the millionaires on whose homes they are now marching — to the applause of Democrats suffering acute Tea Party envy and now salivating at the energy these big-government anarchists will presumably give their cause.

Except that the real Tea Party actually had a program — less government, less regulation, less taxation, less debt. What’s the Occupy Wall Street program? Eat the rich.

And then what? Haven’t gotten that far.

No postprandial plans. But no matter. After all, this is not about programs or policies. This is about scapegoating, a failed administration trying to save itself by blaming our troubles — and its failures — on class enemies, turning general discontent into rage against a malign few.

From the Senate to the streets, it’s working. Obama is too intelligent not to know what he started. But so long as it gives him a shot at reelection, he shows no sign of caring.

Moqtada al-Sadr is back and is thirsty for the blood of American soldiers in Iraq. The Iranian-backed cleric says he will revive his Mehdi Army militia and starting on January 1, 2012, he’s coming after every single one of the 3 to 4,000 U.S. soldiers remaining in Iraq.

On October 4, all of Iraq’s political parties but one agreed that U.S. trainers should be asked to stay past the 2011 deadline for withdrawal. The Iraqi government did not, however, agreed to give them immunity from prosecution as demanded by the U.S. The faction dissenting was the Sadrist bloc, the followers of Moqtada al-Sadr. He has vowed to attack any American soldier on Iraqi soil come 2012, even if they are trainers and not combat soldiers. The Obama Administration envisions reducing forces to 3-4,000, rebuffing the request of General Lloyd Austin to have 14-18,000 troops.

Al-Sadr has shown what he is capable of. He led a radical Shiite uprising that nearly threw the country into civil war, and has positioned himself as a powerful force in Iraqi politics. At its height, his Mehdi Army was 60,000-strong, far more than the force Al-Qaeda in Iraq mustered. Since he disbanded the militia, splinter groups have kept fighting. He went to Iran around the time of the 2007 surge, where he began studying in Qom to receive the title of Grand Ayatollah. With that addition to his resume, he has returned to Iraq to expel U.S. forces and become the religious leader of the Iraqi Shiites.

The U.S. military detected a mobilization of Al-Sadr’s forces in the south earlier this year when they attacked rival Shiites. The rhetoric of Moqtada al-Sadr became more and more heated. He threatened to “escalate military resistance” and one of his aides said, “We are all time bombs and detonators at the hands of Moqtada al-Sadr.” His website published a letter from a supporter expressing his eagerness to become a martyr once the jihad is declared and that no public property or civilians will be targeted. Al-Sadr’s response was to thank him.

Iranian proxies increased their attacks on U.S. forces when summer began. Kataib Hezbollah, whose leader resides in Iran, used Iranian arms. Two other proxies, the Promised Day Brigade and Asaib Ahl al-Haq, took credit for a string of rocket and mortar firings. The death toll for the month was the highest since 2008. Defense Secretary Panetta and General Lloyd Austin, commander of U.S. forces in Iraq, spoke cryptically about how they’d respond. In August, the Iranian-backed attacks significantly declined. The Iranians backed down, but they also must have sensed that it was better to wait until 2012 when there are less American soldiers and attacks will be more acceptable.

It is unknown if al-Sadr can assemble the force he did before, but Iranian-backed proxies can make up the difference. Kaitab Hezbollah numbers only 1,000, but its training by the Iranian Revolutionary Guards and armaments make it a threatening force. Asaib Ahl al-Haq gets $5 million every single month, along with weapons, from the Iranian regime. Al-Sadr and these proxies will capitalize upon the anger of Iraqis who disagree with the prolonged stay of the U.S. military.

American Autumn

Michael Oher, offensive lineman for the Baltimore Ravens, was online on Wednesday night when his Twitter feed started filling up with tributes to Steve Jobs. A bewildered Oher tweeted: “Can somebody help me out? Who was Steve Jobs!”

He was on his iPhone at the time.

Who was Steve Jobs? Well, he was a guy who founded a corporation and spent his life as a corporate executive manufacturing corporate products. So he wouldn’t have endeared himself to the “Occupy Wall Street” crowd, even though, underneath the patchouli and lentils, most of them are abundantly accessorized with iPhones and iPads and iPods loaded with iTunes, if only for when the drum circle goes for a bathroom break.

The above is a somewhat obvious point, although the fact that it’s not obvious even to protesters with an industrial-strength lack of self-awareness is a big part of the problem. But it goes beyond that: If you don’t like to think of Jobs as a corporate exec (and a famously demanding one at that), think of him as a guy who went to work, and worked hard. There’s no appetite for that among those “occupying” Zuccotti Park. In the old days, the tribunes of the masses demanded an honest wage for honest work. Today, the tribunes of America’s leisured varsity class demand a world that puts “people before profits.” If the specifics of their “program” are somewhat contradictory, the general vibe is consistent: They wish to enjoy an advanced Western lifestyle without earning an advanced Western living. The pampered, elderly children of a fin de civilisation overdeveloped world, they appear to regard life as an unending vacation whose bill never comes due.

So they are in favor of open borders, presumably so that exotic Third World peasants can perform the labor to which they are noticeably averse. Of the 13 items on that “proposed list of demands,” Demand Four calls for “free college education,” and Demand Eleven returns to the theme, demanding debt forgiveness for all existing student loans. I yield to no one in my general antipathy to the racket that is American college education, but it’s difficult to see why this is the fault of the mustache-twirling robber barons who head up Global MegaCorp, Inc. One sympathizes, of course. It can’t be easy finding yourself saddled with a six-figure debt and nothing to show for it but some watery bromides from the “Transgender and Colonialism” class.
Americans collectively have north of a trillion dollars in personal college debt. Say what you like about Enron and, er, Solyndra and all those other evil corporations, but they didn’t relieve you of a quarter-mil in exchange for a master’s in Maya Angelou. So why not try occupying the dean’s office at Shakedown U?

Ah, but the great advantage of mass moronization is that it leaves you too dumb to figure out who to be mad at. At Liberty Square, one of the signs reads: “F**k your unpaid internship!” Fair enough. But, to a casual observer of the massed ranks of Big Sloth, it’s not entirely clear what precisely anyone would ever pay them to do.

Do you remember Van Jones? He was Obama’s “green jobs” czar back before “green jobs” had been exposed as a gazillion-dollar sinkhole for sluicing taxpayer monies to the president’s corporate cronies. Oh, don’t worry. These cronies aren’t “corporate” in the sense of Steve Jobs. The corporations they run put “people before profits”: That’s to say, they’ve figured out it’s easier to take government money from you people than create a business that makes a profit. In an amusing inversion of the Russian model, Van Jones became a czar after he’d been a Communist. He became a Commie in the mid-Nineties — i.e., after even the Soviet Union had given up on it. Needless to say, a man who never saw a cobwebbed collectivist nostrum he didn’t like no matter how long past its sell-by date is hot for “Occupy Wall Street.” Indeed, Van Jones thinks that the protests are the start of an “American Autumn.”

In case you don’t get it, that’s the American version of the “Arab Spring.” Steve Jobs might have advised Van Jones he has a branding problem. Spring is the season of new life, young buds and so forth. Autumn is leaves turning brown and fluttering to the ground in a big dead heap. Even in my great state of New Hampshire, where autumn is pretty darn impressive, we understand what that blaze of red and orange leaves means: They burn brightest before they fall and die, and the world turns chill and bare and hard.

So Van Jones may be on to something! American Autumn. The days dwindle down to a precious few, like in whatever that old book was called, The Summer and Fall of the Roman Empire.
If you’ll forgive a plug for my latest sell-out to my corporate masters, in my new book I quote H. G. Wells’s Victorian Time Traveler after encountering far in the future the soft, effete Eloi: “These people were clothed in pleasant fabrics that must at times need renewal, and their sandals, though undecorated, were fairly complex specimens of metalwork. Somehow such things must be made.” And yet he saw “no workshops” or sign of any industry at all. “They spent all their time in playing gently, in bathing in the river, in making love in a half-playful fashion, in eating fruit and sleeping. I could not see how things were kept going.”

The Time Traveler might have felt much the same upon landing in Liberty Square in the early 21st century, except for the bit about bathing: It’s increasingly hard in America to “see how things are kept going,” but it’s pretty clear that the members of “Occupy Wall Street” have no plans to contribute to keeping things going. Like Michael Oher using his iPhone to announce his ignorance of Steve Jobs, in the autumn of the republic the beneficiaries of American innovation seem not only utterly disconnected from but actively contemptuous of the world that sustains their comforts.

Why did Steve Jobs do so much of his innovating in computers? Well, obviously, because that’s what got his juices going. But it’s also the case that, because it was a virtually non-existent industry until he came along, it’s about the one area of American life that hasn’t been regulated into sclerosis by the statist behemoth. So Apple and other companies were free to be as corporate as they wanted, and we’re the better off for it. The stunted, inarticulate spawn of America’s educrat monopoly want a world of fewer corporations and lots more government. If their “demands” for a $20 minimum wage and a trillion dollars of spending in “ecological restoration” and all the rest are ever met, there will be a massive expansion of state monopoly power. Would you like to get your iPhone from the DMV? That’s your “American Autumn”: an America that constrains the next Steve Jobs but bigs up Van Jones.

Underneath the familiar props of radical chic that hasn’t been either radical or chic in half a century, the zombie youth of the Big Sloth movement are a paradox too ludicrous even for the malign alumni of a desultory half-decade of Complacency Studies: They’re anarchists for Big Government.

Do it for the children, the Democrats like to say. They’re the children we did it for, and, if this is the best they can do, they’re done for.

For the first time, an official entity of Iran's Islamic government has detailed the horrific goal of the regime: destroy America and Israel as part of the Muslim "awakening" sweeping Africa and the Middle East.

That "awakening," which the West has labeled the "Arab Spring," is all part of Iran's messianic complex in which it sees itself as the spearhead of a worldwide revolution in which the Shiite version of Islam will dominate humanity.

The Iranian Revolutionary Guards' auxiliary, the feared and infamous Basij militia, issued a statement last week in which it said Iran's supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, has been divinely chosen to impose Islam on all parts of the world. The statement was responding to last Friday's invasion of the Israeli embassy in Cairo, which it called a "nest of spies." The Basij, under the direct supervision of Khamenei, called the embassy invaders "justice-seeking Muslims who have battled Egyptian tyranny."

In its statement, the Basij states that from the regime's very inception in 1979, the Islamic Republic of Iran has condemned what it calls "the illegitimacy of the Zionist regime," which exists as a result of "the plots hatched by imperialist powers such as Britain and America." The Basij claims those powers are the cause of a "series of events, wars and troubles in the region."
After the 1979 Iranian Islamic Revolution, "Muslims everywhere have understood full well that American control of Iran was ended and this blaze of awakening has also now been sparked among Muslims (in other countries)," the statement says. "That awakening (in Iran) has succeeded in causing irreparable damages" to the American economy and security and caused problems to the "Great Satan's" political and cultural institutions.

"The shift in the establishments of the region, preferred by America and Israel, and their growing disposition to Islam, has activated the emergence of movements similar to the Islamic Revolution in Iran, which also endangered American and Israeli interests," the statement says. "The United States and its strategic partner, tyrannical Israel, are clearly petrified of a powerful united Islamic bloc -- led by the Islamic Republic of Iran -- which will totally shift the power in this area of the world."

The Basij says that even non-Muslim countries that are also dissatisfied with the state of the world will begin to seek out "another model" other than America's.

America and its allies don't understand the nature of the rebellions in Islamic countries, and because of their "uninformed and unprincipled confrontationism," the allies have "inadvertently placed themselves in the position to have to come face to face with flourishing glorious revolutions that are both holy and rooted within the Islamic masses," the statement says. "This has been a big slap in the face of those revisionists and deviants who will come to know that this uprising is of the Islamic and revolutionary kind." The Basij says that soon with the leadership of Ayatollah Khamenei, who has directly been chosen by the hidden Imam, both America and Israel will be destroyed and Islam's conquest of the world will begin.

Though Iranian commanders and officials have often reflected the same opinion as the Basij statement, no official statement that details their goal of crushing Israel and the United States has been released -- until now. This announcement by the Basij is significant in that it verifies beyond any doubt that the Islamic regime ruling Iran is truly a messianic one bent on the final worldwide conquest of Islam with the "awakening" as just the beginning.

It is time to understand that the jihadists who hijacked Iran now want to take the rest of the world hostage and are working diligently to arm their missiles with nuclear bombs.

It is only a matter of time for the end of world as the Iranian dictators see it. Will we avert that end?

CAIRO (Reuters) - U.S. officials have met members of the Muslim Brotherhood's political party, a U.S. diplomat said, after Washington announced it would have direct contacts with Egypt's biggest Islamist group whose role has grown since U.S. ally Hosni Mubarak was ousted.
Washington announced the plans in June, portraying such contacts as the continuation of an earlier policy. But analysts said it reflected a new approach to the way it dealt with a group which Mubarak banned from politics.
The Brotherhood is one of Egypt's most popular and organized groups, with a broad grassroots network built up partly through social work even in Mubarak's era.
The contacts may unsettle Israel and its U.S. backers. The Brotherhood renounced violence as a means to achieve political change in Egypt years ago. But groups like Hamas, which have not disavowed violence, look to the Brotherhood as a spiritual guide.
Under the previous policy, U.S. diplomats were allowed to deal with the Brotherhood's members of parliament who had won seats as "independents" to skirt the official ban. This offered a diplomatic cover to keep lines of communication open.
"We have had direct contacts with senior officials of the Freedom and Justice party," the senior diplomat told Reuters, referring to the Brotherhood's party that was founded after politics opened up following the ouster of Mubarak.
The diplomat said U.S. officials did not make a distinction between members of the Brotherhood or its party. "We don't have a policy that makes a distinction, that one or the other is off limits," he said, without saying when the meetings took place.
The diplomat was responding to a question about whether any meetings had occurred, after Freedom Justice Party Chairman Mohamed Mursi told Egypt's Al-Dostour newspaper last week that U.S. officials had not made contact since the policy shift.
Speaking to Reuters on Sunday, the party deputy head Essam el-Erian also denied any meetings had taken place with U.S. officials when asked about the diplomat's comments.
It was not immediately clear why the two sides gave different accounts.
"HIGH-LEVEL" MEETINGS
U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton was asked in an interview broadcast on Saturday with Egypt's Al-Hayat television whether Washington would be ready to work with a future government that included members of the Brotherhood.
"We will be willing to and open to working with a government that has representatives who are committed to non-violence, who are committed to human rights, who are committed to the democracy that I think was hoped for in Tahrir Square," she replied, according to a U.S. transcript.
Under the former Egyptian president, the Brotherhood was banned and its members often detained. Mubarak often presented himself as the bulwark preventing Egypt's slide into Islamist hands, an approach that analysts said help secure him backing from Washington and other Western powers wary that Egypt could turn into another Iran or Gaza.
The group took a backseat in the early part of the anti-Mubarak uprising, which was broadly led by youth groups who put national concerns above religion. But the Brotherhood and its party have taken a increasingly prominent role since.
The diplomat said the U.S. contacts had been with "high-level" members of the Brotherhood's party but did not give names. From the U.S. side, he said the contacts were not at ambassadorial level but he did not give further details.
"We had occasionally had these contacts in the past ... The difference is in the past we had seen parliamentarians," he said.
Egypt's parliament was dissolved after Mubarak's fall. Fresh elections for the lower house are due to start in November, with a vote for the upper house early next year.
The Brotherhood is expected to perform well in the vote, although many analysts expect a fairly fragmented parliament with no single unified voice emerging.
The diplomat said contacts with the Brotherhood were part of an bid to understand Egypt better and explain U.S. policies.
"From our perspective it is important to be in touch with all of the emerging political forces here in Egypt, across the board, that are peaceful and committed to non-violence," he said.
"It helps to understand Egypt and the way the political system is developing, and it helps us to deliver our message and get them to understand where we are coming from," he added.

Election 2012: Hispanics, blacks and others among President Obama’s base may be abandoning him, but Muslims are holding fast. Apparently, theirs is a special bond born of shared interests.
When Barack Hussein Obama first stepped into office in January 2009, he had 92% approval among blacks, 75% approval among Hispanics and 58% approval among whites, according to Gallup.
Since then, his monthly approval has dropped eight points among blacks, 27 points among Hispanics and 25 points among whites.
Blacks are frustrated with Obama's failure to create jobs in a recession that has hit African-Americans hardest. Discord is so bad that even the Congressional Black Caucus is taking jabs at the first black president.
Hispanics, meanwhile, are miffed at Obama's failure to ram amnesty for illegal immigrants through Congress.
Polls show Obama also has lost ground with independents, while young people have cooled off on him.
He is losing much of his 2008 base of voters with one notable exception: Muslim-Americans. They remain exceedingly loyal to the president. In fact, their enthusiasm for Obama has swelled. Last month, Pew Research Center released a survey of U.S. Muslims that was almost universally overlooked. It found that Muslims overwhelmingly approve of the way Obama is handling his job as president. Fully three-quarters (76%) favor him, compared with just 46% of the general public.
President Bush, in contrast, garnered a lowly 15% approval rating among Muslim-Americans. "Muslim-Americans clearly see a friend in Obama," Pew said in its report.
Obama came into office pledging to improve relations with the Muslim world, and he's more than delivered on that promise. Almost two-thirds of U.S. Muslims say Obama is generally friendly toward them, Pew found. Just 4% see him as unfriendly.
And many see him as one of their own. One in 10 say they think the president is a Muslim, while a third say they don't know or refused to answer.
Nonstop pandering has also made Obama popular in the Muslim community.
He's appointed a record number of Muslims to his administration — including at least three radical Muslim Brotherhood agents to White House jobs, according to Muslim reformer Tarek Fatah. And he's killed Justice Department probes of Muslim Brotherhood front groups at home, while paving the way for Brotherhood-run theocracies abroad.
Muslims also are in Obama's corner because he's vowed to provide more "social services" for them — including "jobs, education, health care and civil rights" — as part of his new PC counterterror program.
This is music to their ears. According to the new Pew poll, Muslims love big government as much as Obama. The vast majority say they'd rather have a bigger government with more services than a smaller one with fewer services.
In fact, 68% say they'd prefer an even larger and more activist government than what Obama has engineered.
Obama's core constituency, in the end, may be Muslims. They seem to be singing from the same hymnal.

You hear the same thing said about Herman Cain all the time: Herman Cain has some really interesting ideas, but . . .

I love Herman Cain, but . . .
But what?
But he can't win.

Why not?

At best, the answer has to do with that cloudy word "electability." Or that Mr. Cain has never held elected political office.

In 2004, Mr. Cain ran for the GOP's U.S. Senate nomination in Georgia. He lost to Johnny Isakson. Last weekend, Mr. Cain ran away with the Florida straw poll vote, winning with 37%. He torched both the "Southern" candidate, Rick Perry of Texas, who worked hard to win the vote, and Mitt Romney, who in 2008 campaigned everywhere in Florida.
The time is overdue to plumb the mystery of Herman Cain's "interesting, but" candidacy. Let's start at the top—in the top-tier candidacy of Mitt Romney.

Though he's got the governorship credential, Mr. Romney's emphasis in this campaign is on his private-sector experience. It's good, despite the knock on Bain Capital's business model. But measured by résumés, Herman Cain's looks deeper in terms of working on the private sector's front lines.

The details of his career path are worth knowing.

In the late 1970s, Mr. Cain was recruited from Coca-Cola in Atlanta, his first job in business, to work for Pillsbury in Minneapolis. His rise was rapid and well-regarded. He joined the company's restaurant and foods group in 1978 as director of business analysis. In the early 1980s, Pillsbury sent him to learn the hamburger business at a Burger King in Hopkins, Minn. Then they assigned him, at age 36, to revive Pillsbury's stumbling, franchise Burger King business in the Philadelphia region. He succeeded. According to a 1987 account in the Minneapolis Star Tribune, Pillsbury's then-president Win Wallin said: "He was an excellent bet. Herman always seemed to have his act together."

In 1986, Pillsbury sent the 41-year-old Mr. Cain to turn around their Godfather's Pizza business, headquartered in Omaha. The Herman Cain who arrived there April 1 sounded like the same man who roused voters last Sunday in Florida: "I'm Herman Cain and this ain't no April Fool's joke. We are not dead. Our objective is to prove to Pillsbury and everyone else that we will survive."

Pillsbury sold Godfather's to Mr. Cain and some of his managers in 1988. He ran it until 1996 and served as CEO of the National Restaurant Association from 1996-1999. This June, Mr. Cain visited with the Journal's editors and put the issue of health-insurance availability inside the context of the restaurant industry. He said the restaurant association tried hard to devise a health-insurance program able to serve the needs of an industry whose work force is complex—executives and managers, full-time workers, part-timers, students and so forth. Any conceivable insurance system would require great flexibility in plan-choice and design.

It's from this period that one finds the famous 1994 video, now on YouTube, of Herman Cain on a TV screen from Omaha debating Bill Clinton about his national health legislation during a town-hall meeting. After the president estimates the profitability of Mr. Cain's company, suggesting he can afford the legislation, Mr. Cain essentially dismantles the Clinton math, in detail. "The cost of your plan . . . will cause us to eliminate jobs."

None of this can be put across in the televised debates' explain-everything-in-30 seconds format. Nor is there any chance to elaborate his Sept. 7 debate remark that he admires Chile's private-public social security system. Or his flat-tax "9-9-9" proposal. (Or any of the candidates' policy ideas for that matter.) So voters get nothing, and Mr. Cain flounders.

Why isn't a successful business resume presidential material?

When Mr. Cain talked to the Journal's editors, the most startling thing he said, and which he's been repeating lately, was that he could win one-third of the black vote. Seeing Herman Cain make his case to black audiences would be interesting, period. Years ago, describing his chauffeur father's influence on him in Atlanta, Mr. Cain said: "My father gave me a sense of pride. He was the best damn chauffeur. He knew it, and everybody else knew it." Here's guessing he'd get more of this vote than past GOP candidates.

Does a résumé like Herman Cain's add up to an American presidency? I used to think not. But after watching the American Idol system we've fallen into for discovering a president—with opinion polls, tongue slips and media caprice deciding front-runners and even presidents—I'm rewriting my presidential-selection software.

Conventional wisdom holds that this week's Chris Christie boomlet means the GOP is desperate for a savior. The reality is that, at some point, Republicans will have to start drilling deeper on their own into the candidates they've got.

Put it this way: The GOP nominee is running against the incumbent president. Unlike the incumbent, Herman Cain has at least twice identified the causes of a large failing enterprise, designed goals, achieved them, and by all accounts inspired the people he was supposed to lead. Not least, Mr. Cain's life experience suggests that, unlike the incumbent, he will adjust his ideas to reality.

Herman Cain is a credible candidate. Whether he deserves to be president is something voters will decide. But he deserves a serious look.

Wife of Mexican Drug Lord Crosses the Border to Give Birth to Twins on U.S. Soil

U.S. law enforcement confirm the children‘s mother is Guzman’s wife Emma Coronel, a former beauty queen who already holds U.S. citizenship

Joaquin Guzman is head of the Sinaloa Cartel (the most powerful drug trafficking organization in the world), one of the world’s most wanted men – and now the father of two American citizens.
The L.A. Times reports that Guzman’s 22-year-old wife crossed the border in July in order to give birth to twin girls at a hospital in Los Angeles County on August 15. Following the birth, the multibillionaire fugitive’s wife and children returned to Mexico.

“Name of the Father” was left blank on the birth certificates, but U.S. law enforcement confirm the children‘s mother is Guzman’s wife Emma Coronel, a former beauty queen who already holds U.S. citizenship, thus making the children eligible for U.S. Citizenship. The 54-year-old drug lord nicknamed “El Chapo” (Shorty), married Coronel in a lavish ceremony on her eighteenth birthday. The L.A. Times explains why Coronel was not apprehended when she crossed the border:

“U.S. federal agents apparently kept tabs on Emma Coronel even before she crossed the border at Calexico, through her hospital stay and until she left the country to return to Mexico. Although her husband tops most-wanted lists on both sides of the border, Coronel was not arrested because there are no charges against her, the law enforcement official said.

While she no doubt could have provided useful information on her husband’s whereabouts, drug agents have said the problem with apprehending Guzman has less to do with finding him and more with how Mexican troops can seize him. He surrounds himself with enormous bands of well-armed security and tends to stick to isolated, mountainous regions that are difficult to reach, agents say.”

U.S. authorities have placed a $5-million bounty on Guzman’s head and allege that he and the Sinaloa cartel control the majority of cocaine and marijuana trafficking into the U.S. from Mexico and Colombia, according to MSNBC:

The 5′6″ Guzman was arrested in 1993, but escaped prison in 2001 by bribing guards to hide him in a laundry basket. Guzman has been ranked by Forbes as one of the richest and most powerful men in the world.

The terrorist group Hezb'allah, based in Lebanon, is establishing "resistance cells" worldwide under the direction of Iran, according to Mohammad Hussein Babai, the commander of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards in the province of Golestan.

The cells are already infiltrating the United States with the help of Venezuela's Hugo Chávez and drug cartels.

The Iranian Student News Agency, which is close to the Guards, reported last week that Babai, during a press conference, revealed that these jihadist cells began forming after the 2006 Lebanon war between Israel and Hezb'allah, and with the current Islamic Awakening, they have expanded their operations.

Their mission, Babai said, is to help create an Islam-dominated world.

This is the first time that a high-ranking Revolutionary Guard commander in the Islamic regime of Iran has revealed the presence of such jihadist cells in the world.

"Today we are a witness to our power and authority in the world," Babai said, "and because of our Islamic Revolution [of 1979], now there is an Islamic Awakening that, with the leadership of the dear supreme leader, Ayatollah [Ali] Khamenei, will become stronger and more resilient." The West refers to the Islamic Awakening as the Arab Spring.

Hassan Rahimpour Azghadi, who is a member of the Supreme Council of Cultural Revolution and an important theorist of the Islamic regime in Iran, said in a televised speech last Friday that "today we must get ready for a global operation, and our forces should expand their operation throughout the world."

"Our fighters are present in all five continents of the world and will fight against imperialism everywhere," Azghadi added. "We must not fear anyone, and an international jihad must take place to prepare for the Coming." The "Coming" refers to Imam Mahdi, the Shiites' 12th Imam, who, according to a Shiite hadith, will reappear and reap destruction on Israel and the West.

Azghadi said it is the duty of Iran, "the center of the religious fighters worldwide," to export revolution. "As our Imam [the founder of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini] declared, we must destroy Israel and free Jerusalem. We must take our fight into the heart of Europe, America, Africa, Asia ... and just as we helped with the Islamic movement in Lebanon and Gaza, soon there will be an Islamic Republic in Egypt."

He then reiterated that Iran must prepare itself for a global conflict.

The radicals ruling Iran, ever since the Islamic Revolution, have invested heavily to expand their field of operations in Europe and America. I witnessed their activities when, as a member of the Revolutionary Guards, I was also a CIA spy. Every Iranian embassy, Islamic cultural centers, mosques, offices of Iran Air, Iranian shipping lines, Iranian banks, and many front companies dealing with Iran are being used by the Iranian Quds Forces and intelligence agency for recruitment, transfer of arms and cash, and terrorist activities.

They have successfully placed many cells in Europe and, through ties with the Hugo Chávez government in Venezuela, have placed hundreds of Quds Force members along with Hezb'allah terrorists in front companies in Venezuela. Iran has set up an explosives lab in Venezuela for its cells with the knowledge of the Chávez government. In return, the Iranian regime has given hundreds of millions of dollars to Chávez.

These cells, through collaboration with drug cartels, have infiltrated Latin America and have even set up shop in Mexico, from where, in a coordinated effort, they are infiltrating the United States.

The radicals ruling Iran have become increasingly vocal in recent weeks that, because of the current upheaval in the Islamic world and the weakness and confusion of the leaders in America and Europe due to the global economy, the time is ripe to bring the West to its knees.

It is with this view that those radicals, despite four sets of U.N. sanctions, are pursuing ever so aggressively their nuclear bomb project.

Perhaps the jihadists in Iran are emboldened because they are close to having a nuclear bomb. Perhaps they have already armed their cells with dirty bombs. The last report by the International Atomic Energy Agency stated that Iran now has enough enriched uranium for six nuclear bombs. It certainly has the material and the knowledge, and now we must realize that it has the will to do what is unimaginable by the Western world: an all-out attack to create a new world order in which Islam will rule the world.

The hadith presaging the return of the 12th Imam says, "This is the time when the last Islamic Messiah will return to rid the world from Infidels and establish a worldwide Islamic caliphate: Chaos, famine, and havoc will engulf the Earth. Major wars with dark clouds [atomic wars] will burn the Earth. One-third of the Earth's population will be killed, and the rest will suffer hunger and lawlessness."

[...] The Istanbul chief public prosecutor's office charged cartoonist Bahadir Baruter with "insulting the religious values adopted by a part of the population" and requested his imprisonment for up to one year.

Baruter's caricature depicted an imam and believers praying in a mosque. One of the characters is talking to God on his cellphone and asking to be pardoned from the last part of the prayer because he has errands to run.

Within the wall decorations of the mosque, Baruter hid the words, "There is no Allah, religion is a lie."

The cartoon was published in the weekly "Penguen" humor magazine.No real surprise, Islamists have never been known for their tolerance or sense of humor. And so much for "secular" Turkey being secular and an ally of the West. As Daniel Pipes noted yesterday, Turkey is anything but secular (and secular Turks tend to be even more anti-Western than Turkey's Islamic party), and Turkey may be, along with Iran, the most dangerous state of the region.

Insiders and political pros never recognize a superstar when they see one. Herman Cain is just such a star. Now that Rick Perry has been unmasked as a weak debater and an even weaker opponent of illegal immigration, conservatives are turning their lonely eyes to Cain.

A stellar debate performance on Fox News led to a smashing victory in the President5 straw poll in Florida and a strong third place finish -- behind Romney and Perry -- in the Michigan straw poll. Both Michigan and Florida are likely among the seven states that will hold primaries or caucuses in February (and they are the two biggest of the seven).

Here is a man who offers an alternative to Obama's class warfare. His life story shows that Obama's route to the top -- through affirmative action, community organizing, and a climb up the political ladder -- is not the only one available to minorities. His combination of hard work in the private sector, entrepreneurial initiative, and managerial skill can also get you there. He embraces the successful as role models not as objects of envy. He does not hate rich people. He wants us all to become rich.

In a sense, Cain's rise and Mitt Romney's are parallel trajectories. Each has based his appeal on the idea that life in the private sector is better than a career in government service to equip one to solve America's economic problems. Both say that their hands on experience at job creation qualify them to be president in a way that Perry's lifelong political immersion does not.

Now, as Perry fades and Romney rises, Herman Cain is on the cusp of front tier status in the Republican nominating contest.

Behind the president’s whining to the Black Caucus, begging them to “quit grumbling,” is a decline in his personal popularity among African-American voters that could portend catastrophe for his fading reelection chances.

According to a Washington Post/ABC News survey, his favorability rating among African-Americans has dropped off a cliff, plunging from 83 percent five months ago to a mere 58 percent today — a drop of 25 points, a bit more than a point per week!

Nothing is more crucial to the president’s reelection strategy than a super-strong showing among black voters. In the election of 2008, he was able to increase African-American participation from 11 percent of the total vote in 2004 to 14 percent. He carried 98 percent of them. This swing accounted for fully half of his gain over the showing of John Kerry. Now his ability to repeat that performance is in doubt.

And the emergence of Herman Cain as a serious Republican candidate could not have come at a worse time for the embattled president. Two men of Bangladeshi origin were caught by Customs and Border Protection illegally crossing the US-Mexico border last June and admitted they were members of a terrorist organization that allied with Bin Laden against America.

Now, it appears at least one of those men is free after posting bail and claiming asylum. And the Department of Homeland security has no idea where he is.

The information is according to a report this week by Pajamas Media, which gives some background on these suspected terrorists:

“The two men, Muhammad Nazmul Hasan and Mirza Muhammad Saifuddin, were intercepted near Naco, Arizona, not long after they had crossed the border on June 25, 2010. During their interrogation, one of the men admitted that they were members of Harakat-ul-Jihad-i-Islami Bangladesh (HuJI-B), which was designated a terrorist organization by the United States in February 2008.”

The State Department designated HuJI-B as a terrorist organization in 2008. The group has a long history of deadly bombings against India, and wages Jihad alongside other terrorist organizations with the goal of a global caliphate. According to Long War Journal, the terrorist group HuJI-B operates by recruiting from:

“Madrassas, or religious schools, in Bangladesh and are trained in al Qaeda and Taliban camps Pakistan and Afghanistan. The Bangladeshi terror group plays a crucial role in training jihadists from southern Thailand, Cambodia, Indonesia and Brunei and provide[s] manpower for al Qaeda’s affiliates in Jammu and Kashmir, Afghanistan, Indonesia, the Philippines, and Chechnya.”

So we have to ask the question, if a self-proclaimed terrorist is in the United States illegally, wouldn’t deportation at a minimum be a better option than releasing him on bail?

Earlier this week, PJ Media’s Patrick Poole met with a national security official with direct knowledge of the case who reportedly said of the possible terrorist-at-large:

“That this guy was allowed out on bond is criminal. We don’t have the slightest idea where he is now. If he sets off a car bomb in Tucson or Phoenix, or shoots up a shopping mall or elementary school somewhere, there will be a lot of finger-pointing. But nobody seems that concerned about it now. And this is not the first time something like this has happened.”

While an attack remains a real concern, the odds are against a lone wolf attack. The bigger and more immediate problem is the porous nature of the border for enemies of the U.S., and the lack of effective policies when it comes to illegal crossings by those with terrorist ties.

Fox News reported last year on a Somali smuggling ring that brought hundreds of individuals into the U.S. through Mexico. Some of those Somalis were allegedly affiliated with the Al Shabaab terrorist organization. Individuals with ties to Hamas, Hezbollah, and even Al Qaeda are believed to have crossed into the U.S. from Mexico, or attempted to do so.

PA: Man Describes Racially-Charged Mob Attack

Detailed and increasingly troubling information has been reported in regards to a violent attack in the Port Richmond area of Philadelphia earlier this month. Mark LaVelle came across two fearful white teens near his home on Sept. 9 who were being chased by a mob of black and Hispanic youths. The well-known sports-league organizer and coach allowed the boys to hide inside his house and went outside to try and calm the angry mob, reports the Philadelphia Daily News.

The mob was reportedly armed with bats and pipes, and in search of white teens who allegedly attacked a black kid in a nearby playground hours earlier. LaVelle said the two kids he took in appeared to be 13 or 14.

The Daily News has more:” ‘We got you, you white mother——-!’ “ LaVelle said he heard someone yell in the ”mob” of black and Hispanic youths.[...]

“They were standing on his steps. One shouted, ‘Something’s going to happen now!’ LaVelle recalled in an interview Friday at his house. LaVelle got nervous and went back inside, locking his door with a deadbolt.

But the attackers pounded on his front windows and kicked his wooden door so hard, it flew open and some of them entered his house.

‘The first guy hits me with a pipe. The second guy knocks me in the face. All I’m hearing is my wife and kids screaming,’ said LaVelle, who feared that the next time they saw him, he would be in a casket.”

LaVelle said as he was pushing the attackers out the door, one man extend his arm with gun. LaVelle grabbed onto the gunman’s lower arm as police sirens rang out and the mob turned and scattered.

The violent attack on the LaVelle home took place all the while LaVelle’s wife, 11 and 17-year-old sons, 7-year-old nephew, and 13-month old twin boys locked themselves upstairs. ABC 6 coverage of the violent affair:

LaVelle was able to identify three members of the mob who have been arrested, including the man who hit him with the pipe. LaVelle told the Philadelphia Daily News that the mother of one of the men identified came to his door the next day threatening and screaming at LaVelle:

“LaVelle said, the mother yelled at him, ‘You white mother——, you got my kid locked up! You got my son locked up because he’s black, you’re white!’ The mother claimed that her son had been “a witness,” not an attacker. To that, LaVelle said if that were true, it would come out in court.

But the mother, according to LaVelle, then yelled: ’If you make it to court! I know where you live!’ “The two adults arrested face charges of aggravated assault conspiracy, burglary, weapons and related offenses. The third attacker arrested was a minor.

ABC 6 reports raising tensions and violence in the area have troubled community leaders. An emergency meeting was held Sept.14 with police and officials from the Human Relations Commission along with community leaders and State Representative John Taylor.

“It’s something that none of us can take lightly, I think the community leaders are not taking it lightly and certainly the residents aren’t,” Taylor told ABC 6.

Politico, which pretends to be a nonpartisan website while harboring three members of the infamous JourNoList conspiracy to shape news to favor Obama, has revealed how deeply it and the Democrats fear Herman Cain. American Glob noticed that in pictorial display of the GOP presidential field, Politico somehow managed to include Huntsman and Santorum, but omit Herman Cain's beautiful black face. Here is their screen capture:

This is more than odd, considering that Herman Cain now leads the GOP field, according to Zogby's latest poll:

Rick Perry has tumbled by more than 20 percentage points over the past month among Republican presidential primary voters and is now second to Herman Cain, who leads the field with 28%.

Mitt Romney received little benefit from Perrys (sic) fall, garnering 17% of the vote for third place.

Coming in the wake of President Obama's rebuke of the Congressional Black Caucus and Mad Max Waters' pushback, the Politico gambit reveals how deeply Democrats and their agents at Politico fear Herman Cain last night, Cain told Greta Van Susteren:

...the African-American vote, I am confident, based upon black people that I run into, black people that used to call my radio show, black people that have signed up on my website to support me -- I believe, quite frankly, that my campaign, I will garner a minimum of a third of the black vote in this country and possibly more, especially after what the president did recently when he was addressing the black caucus. That didn't go over well with a lot of people in this country.
My message is resonating, not because of my color but because the message is simple, and it is sticking to the American people in terms of actually making a difference.

Unlike Barack Obama, Herman Cain comes from African-American roots, with slave ancestors, and blue collar parents. While Obama's Luo ancestors in Africa were slave holders, Cain's ancestors were slaves in America. Cain didn't attend any elite prep schools or Ivy League universities, he was the first member of his family to attend college and rose on merit in the corporate world, before the era of affirmative action. He is, to use Al Sharpton's phrase, "authentic."

No wonder the left and its press lickspittles are so worried.

Update: ABC News also betrays deep fear of "nobody" Herman Cain. Scott Whitlock of Newsbusters:

Good Morning America's John Hendren on Sunday dismissed the victory of Herman Cain in the Florida straw poll, condescendingly asserting that the "big winner is nobody." The ABC reporter made sure to repeatedly mention the business of the Republican presidential candidate: "That's right. The man who brought you Godfather's Pizza at 37 percent."Hendren arrogantly explained, "What's notable about the Florida straw poll is less who won than who lost...The week's big winner in the Republican primary is nobody."

It's odd for ABC to dismiss the straw poll's actual winner as a "nobody." But if the candidate hasn't broken through, perhaps the hosts at GMA should actually consider having him on as a guest. (This has yet to happen in 2011.)

His party, not the Republicans, is the obstacle.
‘This Congress, they are accustomed to doing nothing, and they’re comfortable with doing nothing, and they keep on doing nothing,” President Obama whined at a September 15 Democratic National Committee gathering in a private Washington residence.
Now that his “Blame Bush” hobby horse finally has retired to the glue factory, Obama resorts to pinning America’s woes on the “Do-Nothing Congress.” If only these parliamentarians would stop taking endless lunches, sipping cocktails at Capitol Hill happy hours, and napping at their desks, America might have some chance of returning to normal.
Obama speaks as if the entire Congress were in lock-step Republican opposition to his every initiative. Damn those pesky elephants!
Of course, Obama’s rhetoric cynically turns things upside down.
Congress consists of a do-something House of Representatives, run by Republicans, and a do-nothing Senate controlled by Obama’s very own Democrats. Obama evidently believes that if he can keep spouting clever lies and distortions, no one will call him on it. Well, it’s time to do so.
The 112th Congress has been characterized by a very active legislative pace in the Republican House, featuring the passage of many measures designed to revive America’s exhausted economy.
The Democratic Senate, meanwhile, is a much lazier place, where House Republicans’ measures go to die.
The figures bear this out, beyond debate.
Through September 15, the Republican House had been in session for 120 days. The Democratic Senate through the same date had been in session only 115 days.
In terms of recorded votes, the two bodies are as different as Times Square and the Everglades. Through September 15, the GOP House had voted 711 times. Meanwhile, across the same period, the Democratic Senate had only 137 recorded votes. So, the allegedly lethargic GOP legislators whose sloth dooms the nation actually are five times as energetic as their indolent counterparts in the Democratic Senate.
This distinction might discredit House Republicans if they wasted their time voting on National Apricot Yogurt Month and similar matters of national urgency. In fact, Republicans have approved serious legislation designed to get America moving.
“Our new majority has passed more than a dozen pro-growth measures designed to address the jobs crisis,” Speaker John Boehner and Majority Leader Eric Cantor wrote Obama on September 6. “Aside from repeal of the 1099-reporting requirement in the health care law, however, none of the jobs measures passed by the House to date have been taken up by the Democrat-controlled Senate.”
These have included bills to reduce anti-business regulations, accelerate offshore oil production, and speed the Keystone XL pipeline, which would carry Canadian oil to refineries in Texas. The pipeline alone would create 20,000 jobs.
Senate Democratic leader Harry Reid seems to be in no rush to consider Obama’s American Jobs Act, even though Obama wants it enacted “right now!”
“We’ve got to get rid of some issues first,” Reid said. For now, he is not sure “exactly what I’m going to do yet with the president’s jobs bill,” especially since some of Reid’s own Democrats, such as Mary Landrieu of Louisiana and Jim Webb of Virginia, seem ho-hum about Obama’s $447 billion Stimulus Jr.
While House Republicans adopted a budget last April 15, the Democratic Senate has not approved a budget since April 29, 2009. This Democratic inaction seems to violate the U.S. Congressional Budget Act, which requires passage of an annual budget resolution. Indeed, the Senate rejected Obama’s budget in May by a vote of 0 to 97 — with every Democrat in the chamber voting nay.
Obama can disagree with every piece of paper passed by the GOP House. But when he slyly bashes Republicans by accusing “this Congress” of “doing nothing,” he simply is lying through his teeth. If Obama wants the entire Congress to get something done, he should tell Harry Reid to wake up and do his job.

Definitely not politically correct. And, as you'll see, the liberals are having a hissy fit.
It's a bake sale being put on by UC Berkeley Young Republicans that is designed to be both humorous and thought provoking.

What they didn't expect were death threats:

During the sale, scheduled for Tuesday, baked goods will be sold to white men for $2.00, Asian men for $1.50, Latino men for $1.00, black men for $0.75 and Native American men for $0.25. All women will get $0.25 off those prices.

"The pricing structure is there to bring attention, to cause people to get a little upset," Campus Republican President Shawn Lewis, who planned the event, told CNN-affiliate KGO. "But it's really there to cause people to think more critically about what this kind of policy would do in university admissions."

Lewis says it's a way to make a statement about pending legislation that would let the California universities consider race or national origin during the admission process.

But the young Republicans have been on the receiving end of a fierce backlash. Reaction has been so negative they've been forced to cancel their customary lunchtime tabling duties, according to KGO.

This reaction from the pro-quota camp makes us wonder what planet this fellow lives on:

Tim Wise, author of the book "White Like Me: Reflections on Race from a Privileged Son," calls the bake sale a "sarcastic and rather smarmy slap at people of color."

"There are a lot of ways to make a point about your disagreement with affirmative action," Wise told Lemon Saturday night.

"I get the joke," he continued. "How very original. It's been done for 15 years. The point that I think needs to be made ... is that by the time anyone steps on a college campus ... there has already been 12- to 13-years of institutionalized affirmative action for white folks, that is to say, racially embedded inequality, which has benefited those of us who are white. And it's only at the point of college admissions that these folks seem to get concerned with color consciousness."

If the gentleman feels that guilty about being white, I suggest he see a therapist. For the rest, the self-delusion necessary to deny that "affirmative action" permeates society, top to bottom, right to left, in all endeavors is shocking. In order to believe what this gentleman believes, you have to deliberately ignore what's going on around you and substitute a fantasy world where white people oppress minorities as part of a vast conspiracy to keep them down.

In schools from kindergarten to senior high, students are regularly and systematically exposed to race based decisions that start from the premise that white people are oppressors and that because of historically bad behavior, everything must be done to rectify it. And statements by this jamoke like, "there has already been 12- to 13-years of institutionalized affirmative action for white folks" is so far outside reality that we can properly question the gentleman's sanity.

If he wants to make a point about the historic imbalance between suburban schools (where white and black kids score equally well on standardized tests) and the travesty of minority schools in cities, then have at it. But recognize that "affirmative action" is a fact of life at every level in American society and that college admissions is just one more manifestation of the phenomenon.

Toronto District School Board's Calendar Shocks 6 Year-Old's Dad

This story from a few days ago is really sick stuff:

TORONTO - This Toronto dad is just not ready to explain to his first-grade son about transgender people, prostitutes, AIDS or female genital mutilation.

So one can imagine his shock when he found these issues listed as special days of recognition in his son's Toronto District School Board 2011-12 daily planner.

"I was looking through this thing and was shocked by the kind of days they are marking as 'days of significance,'" he said.

The first one that jumped out at him, under a headline that said "equitable and inclusive," was Nov. 19's Transgender Day of Remembrance.

Then came Dec. 1's World AIDS Day, followed by Dec. 17's International Day to End Violence Against Sex Workers. There was also Feb. 7's International Day of Zero-Tolerance on Female Genital Cutting/Mutilation and Feb. 12's International Sexual and Reproductive Health Day.
"It's just bizarre," said the outraged dad. "He's six. I want him to enjoy being six."

Herman Cain winning the Florida straw poll is encouraging. It means an honest, straight-talking non-politician can cut through the flowery rhetoric and be taken seriously. While all eyes are on Rick and Romney, Herman is busy transforming "grass-roots popularity into strong showings in national polls."

In the end, it's more than a long shot that the 'Hermanator,' a Baptist minister who enjoys singing the occasional Gospel hymn and whose favorite dish is the "Godfather's combo with extra cheese, sausage, ham, onions and peppers, [washed down] with an icy Coke," would actually have a chance to win the Republican nomination.

Still, if one were to fantasize about such a scenario, many pleasant ideas come to mind which, if they were to materialize, could inject some humor into a nation that Mr. Cain says needs to "lighten up" and have a few laughs.

Right out of the gate, the first thing that would be striking about a Herman Cain vs. Barack Obama presidential race would be the comparison between Barry dragging out and setting up two Teleprompters to answer a few questions and Herman standing next to him, hands in his pockets, pithy retort at the ready.

On jobs, the President's usual approach is to attempt to razzle-dazzle with flowery rhetorical proposals that sound good on the campaign trail but, in practice, don't work. Herman's method is to listen to his opponents, look at the crowd, smile, and off-the-cuff respond to half-baked ideas with: "It's time to get real, folks. Hope and change ain't working. Hope and change is not a solution. Hope and change is not a job."

After watching Bobble Head Barack turn from right to left reading what someone tells him he believes off a scrolling Teleprompter, oh, to be able to watch Herman Cain lean over a debate podium and hear him say, "We need a leader, not a reader."

A "Yes We Cain" versus a "We thought we could, but then we couldn't" run-off for the White House between the man from Georgia and the man from God-knows-where would certainly create mass liberal confusion, because instantaneously the race card would have to be moved to the bottom of the deck.

Oh, but wait! Obama had better not remove the race card too fast. Herman identifies with racists in a way, because as a black man he knows the racism issue isn't about skin color. On the left, racism is defined as: "People who oppose Obama," and in the past Mr. Cain has in fact admitted, "I guess I'm a racist."

The confusion surrounding having two black candidates for president would make for interesting theatre. Take for instance Black Panther poll watchers standing guard for racial equality. How would they know whom to wave their clubs at on Election Day? Do the Panthers intimidate whites voting for Obama or blacks voting for Cain? How would they figure out who is voting for whom? What a quandary.

Prior to winning the Florida CPAC straw poll, Mr. Cain articulated his intent to replace the tax code with a 999-tax plan where, across the board, he would implement "9 percent tax on businesses, personal income and sales." If, in the aforementioned fantasy, Herman and Barry get to debate taxes, when it's the President's turn to articulate his views on taxes Herman could hold a "999" poster board upside down in front of the camera and America will instantly know where and from whom Barack's tax philosophy gathers its inspiration.

A perfect retort to Obama touting, blaming and refusing to accept responsibility for failed policies would be for Cain to pose a question to America: "How's this guy workin' out for you?"

Who can forget the First Lady opining on Obama's 'share the wealth' view of the world, saying, "The truth is, in order to get things like universal health care and a revamped education system, then someone is going to have to give up a piece of their pie so that someone else can have more."

Oh, what sweet irony it would be to watch Obama grapple with Godfather's Pizza's successful CEO who saw pie as a symbol of success, not an emblem of imposed sacrificial socialism. A person who, since leaving what he calls "that Democrat plantation" a long time ago, found out that if an individual refuses to adopt the usual liberal victim status, miraculously there's more than enough for everyone to have a whole pie - if a person is willing to work for it.

Sweeter still would be to hear how cancer survivor Herman Cain would respond to Barack laying on the ObamaCare user-friendly insurance language, heartstring-manipulation banter about 32 million+ uninsured, talk of $980 billion in 10-year costs, mandates, and everything else included in Obama's gargantuan government power grab.

At a recent Republican debate, the potential presidential nominee succinctly boiled down all the healthcare drivel to one concise and grateful sentence when he said: "If ObamaCare had been fully implemented when I caught cancer, I'd be dead."

Mr. Cain has repeatedly proven that when truth is in the mix there is no need for theatrics, or Hermanator hysterics. Cain's legendary "I'd be dead" comment not only applies to himself as a cancer survivor, but regrettably also predicts America's future if Barack Obama manages to somehow slickly speechify himself into a second term.

Herman Cain may not be the perfect candidate but, then again, who is? Moreover, Mr. Cain getting the Republican nomination, unfortunately, is doubtful.

However, reality does not diminish the fact that this patriotic man is the master of a unique style of political "Hermaneutics." In few words, Herman Cain clearly articulates the extent of death, doom and destruction a second term would impose on a nation already reeling from three years of Barack Obama's perverted brand of "Hope and Change."

TOLEDO, OH (WTOL) - Several IHOP locations are re-opening after seven IHOP locations in Ohio and Indiana were raided early Tuesday morning by the FBI, Homeland Security, Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency and local police.
Officials with Homeland Security tell us the investigation is currently sealed and cannot release any additional information.
A well-placed source with Toledo Police Department tells WTOL 11 the investigation surrounds allegations of money laundering and possibly undocumented workers.
This source also told us there may be allegations of terrorism, but a spokesperson with IHOP's corporate office says they have been told there are no terrorism links.
Locations that were raided:
- Talmadge Road in west Toledo
- Fremont-Pike location in Perrysburg
- Airport Highway in Springfield Township
- Central Avenue in Sylvania Township near McCord road
- An IHOP in Lima, Ohio
- An IHOP in Findlay, Ohio
- An IHOP in Evansville, Indiana
Homeland Security confirms search warrants were executed at 6 a.m.
All seven of the restaurants are owned by Terry Elk. Elk is from our area and WFIE, our sister station in Evansville, Indiana, confirmed Terry Elk's real name is Tarek Elkafrawi.
The FBI told WTOL they raided two homes and two storage units have also been searched. A source tells us the storage units were rented by Maazen Kadir.
According to the Better Business Bureau website, Kadir is the primary contact for the Talmadge Road location and is listed as the area manager. WTOL 11 reporters witnessed FBI agents removing many boxes from the locations. It is unknown what the boxes contain.
Elkafrawi was at a national meeting of IHOP store owners this morning and is now on his way back to our area.
IHOP also said they have been in contact with the FBI and the other authorities and, again, IHOP is saying they have been told this investigation is not related to terrorism.

Monroe— Local, state and federal authorities are investigating the detonation of a car bomb that hospitalized three people Tuesday evening.
The incident happened about 5:40 p.m. at East Elm and Interstate 75, Monroe police officials said in a press release.
A father and his two children were in the vehicle at the time of the incident, Michigan State police said, citing preliminary information from Monroe County authorities.
The children were flown by helicopter to St. Vincent Hospital in Toledo and were listed in serious condition, police said. The father was taken by ambulance to the hospital, police said. He also was listed in serious condition.
The victims' injuries weren't released.
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives confirmed Wednesday morning that an explosive device was involved in the incident.
Michigan State Police and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives are working with Monroe police on the investigation.
Monroe Police Lt. Charles Abel said in an e-mail that authorities were to meet Wednesday morning to discuss the case, and a press conference could be held after the meeting.

Obama's urgent jobs plan: Right now, 'right now' means sometime next month maybe

Everybody remembers the urgency of President Obama's attitude toward the awful jobs situation.

Back in early August, Obama said the jobs situation was so urgent that he was going to give another speech about it -- in a month or so, in September after his vacation on Martha's Vineyard.

And then in September the president announced he would give his major jobs speech to a joint session of Congress on Sept. 7. But he neglected to check with congressional leaders first. And they suggested the 8th. So, since it was their House, the 8th it was.

"Tonight," the president said in the first 34 of his 4,021 words to a national television audience that night, "we meet at an urgent time for our country. We continue to face an economic crisis that has left millions of our neighbors jobless, and a political crisis that has made things worse."
The speech got panned as another political campaign one with Obama announcing, in effect, that....

...since the first stimulus spending plan of $787 billion hadn't really worked, maybe another $447 billion stimulus spending plan would.

This is the kind of thinking that can make sense within Washington. But since "stimulus" has become a laugh line, he didn't use that word anymore.

And, hey, the debt ceiling had been raised to $16 trillion. (Speaking of which the president speaks on the debt this morning in another speech because he's a Real Good Talker.) So why not spend a half-trillion more to look like he's doing something about the terrible jobs situation with 14+ million unemployed?

If Republicans didn't bite, no one would know Obama's Plan B was never going to work anyway. And he could try to blame the GOP next year for failing schools and rusting bridges. This also seems to make sense within Washington these days.

The president was in such a hurry to get this new spending going, everyone remembers, that during that address he said the phrase "right now" seven times. He didn't actually mean right now that night because the NFL season was opening a few minutes after his remarks.

But Obama did want to show how really urgent he said the situation was, even though it had taken him 961 days as president to say them. And even though from Day #1 of the brief Obama Era polls had shown jobs and the economy were the No. 1 priority among voters but he pursued healthcare and financial reforms first. And even though unemployment had been at or above 9% for 26 of the last 28 months.

So, given the president's professed urgency, the next day, Sept. 9, everyone asked where was his jobs legislation?

And, well, it seems the urgent jobs bill hadn't actually been written yet but should be ready in a week or two. When the laughter died, the White House said on second thought the legislation would be ready for a photo op the next Monday.

Well, here we are on the next Monday after that next Monday and we've just learned from the No. 2 Democrat in the Senate, Dick Durbin, that actually it seems that body won't really be seriously getting into the legislation for a while yet. The Senate has some other more important business to handle. And then there's this month's congressional vacation, which in Washington is called "a recess," like elementary school.

Here's the revealing exchange with a persistent host Candy Crowley on CNN's "State of the Union:"

CROWLEY: When is the bill going to get on the floor?
DURBIN: The bill is on the calendar. Majority leader Reid moved it to the calendar. It is ready and poised. There are a couple other items we may get into this week not on the bill and some related issues that may create jobs. But we're going to move forward on the president's bill. There will be a healthy debate. I hope the Republicans will come to...
CROWLEY: After the recess, so next month? Or when will it actually begin to act on?
DURBIN: I think that's more realistic it would be next month.
So, as of right now, "right now" uttered on Sept. 8 really means sometime at least one month later.

Good thing the president's own Democratic party controls the Senate. Because, otherwise, there might be some kind of silly, unnecessary delays in deliberating Obama's urgent jobs bill that he says will surely help the nation's unemployed millions if only those Republicans don't connive to slow things down.

A friend reports on the Day of Angst - uh, "rage"

A first-hand report on the "Day Of 'Rage'" in NYC from my good friend and great American - David R. of Manhattan (thanks Dave!!):

On Saturday I took a trip down to the Financial District to observe the so-called “Day of Rage”, the anti capitalism rally that was organized by the computer hacking website, “Anonymous.com” and the anti capitalist group, “Addbusters”. The rally was spread over much of the Financial District and over the course of the day it shifted to several locations, among them; the Charging Wall Street Bull statue at Bowling Green, the corner of Wall Street & Broadway at Trinity Church, The Museum of the American Indian and finally Zuchotti Park, which catty corners across from Ground Zero.

Both the Charging Bull statue and Wall St & Broadway locations were barricaded and surrounded by NYPD officers but early on the crowds occupied Bowling Green (around the Bull statue) as well as the steps of the American Indian Museum. Later in the day they would also take over Zuchotti Park. I noticed several variations of the anarchist and socialist flags as well as the ‘Adbusters’ mockery of Old Glory that has corporate logos in place of stars (see attachment). Also large numbers of young people with faces covered with keffiyehs, bandannas and a variety of Guy Fawkes masks. The “Free Palestine” crowd was there as well as a large ‘Free Troy Davis’ contingent (the Left’s 21st Century ‘Mumia’). At about 1:30 PM, a group of mostly young men wearing the aforementioned variety of masks, attempted a loud chanting sit-in, blocking all pedestrian traffic directly in front of the police barricades posted at the Wall St & Broadway location. The group was easily removed by the officers present.

By late afternoon the crowd had marched up from Bowling Green to Zuchotti Park. By then their numbers had swelled significantly from the hundred or so they started out with to something closer to a thousand. At the Park, a group called the ‘Primetime Brass Band’ was performing patriotic tunes for passing tourists when the lefty crowd began to surge into their area. The leader of the band periodically told the crowd that the band was NOT affiliated with the anti American group behind them and he had to make that disclaimer because several of the moonbats were deliberately marching between the band and its audience with their anti capitalism signs. One old commie, waving a big red socialist flag directly behind the band, requested they play ‘The Internationale’ – predictable!

Later at home, I heard on the news that Mayor ‘Softy’ Bloomberg would not allow the crowds to camp in Zuchotti Park but would permit them to sleep on the sidewalks outside the park, provided they did not block pedestrian traffic (Mayor ‘Softy’ never did oust the crowd from the park – they were allowed to spend the night there). Btw, since none of this was done with an official NYPD permit and since the punks aren’t going away, I wonder how Mayor ‘Softy’ will deal with the situation on Monday when Wall Street HAS to reopen for the returning Stock Market workers. If the rally morphs into a mob, will the Mayor man-up and activate the Mounted Police and Riot Squads? Just curious.

This summer it has been a softer, modern version of living in a cabin on the Great Warpath circa 1740 near Albany or Montreal (in this regard, take a look at Eliot Cohen’s new book Conquered into Liberty on the origins of the American way of war), readying oneself for the next break-in — so our inland “California Corridor” has become from Bakersfield to Sacramento.

More specifically, I have been on the lookout around my farm for a predatory, nearly new, grey/silver Toyota truck that drives in and then speeds out — always a day or so before the nocturnal theft. He’s clever, this caser — and audacious too, like a wily Sherman tank prowling through the hedgerows. (Why, if poor, is he not home growing a tomato garden or scouring the roadside for the ubiquitous tossed aluminum cans and plastic bottles?)

On three separate occasions from June to August, I have had copper wire stripped out of pumps, the barn ransacked, and the two locks pried off the shop and various things stolen. (Why did they steal buckets of 1900 antique bolts and square nails and leave alone a drill press and grinder? Ease of recycling? Ignorance?)

One of the stranger things in the California Corridor is to periodically walk around a barnyard and notice: “Hmm, that set of rusted furrowers is gone? Hmmm, what happened to those sections of 2-inch pipe? Hmmm, didn’t I have an old compressor next to the shed? Have I got dementia, or wasn’t there once upon a time three metal ladders leaning against the shop?” It is as if they became animate, grew legs, and quietly walked off in the sunset...
