Our friends in the UN...

In March 2010, the United Nations Human Rights Council passed a resolution criminalizing so-called "defamation of religions." The resolution, authored by Pakistan, mentions only one religion by name: Islam. With its 57 member states the Organization of the Islamic Conference systematically uses its voting power in the UN to subvert the concept of freedom and human rights. In 1990, the OIC rejected the 1948 Universal Declaration of Human Rights and replaced it by the Cairo Declaration on Human Rights in Islam, which states in articles 24 that - I quote - "All the rights and freedoms stipulated in this Declaration are subject to the Islamic Sharia." Geert Wilders: This "human rights" charade has to stop if Western civilization wants to survive. Human rights exist for the protection of individuals, not religions and ideologies... READ IT ALL

Will A Nuclear Caliphate Rise From Unrest In The Mideast?

With the Muslim world reaching a boiling point, U.S. intelligence fears that the unrest could create a power vacuum exploited by al-Qaida and its parent, the radical Muslim Brotherhood.

Both share a goal of bringing the Mideast under a single Islamic ruler, who could control world oil supplies and possibly even nuclear weapons.

The Obama administration finds the idea of such a "caliphate" preposterous. It isn't even concerned about the prospect of Islamist regimes emerging from the revolts. Many of the Mideast protesters are "secular," the White House believes.

Deputy National Security Adviser Denis McDonough called it a "lie" that Muslims want a universal Islamic state...

Oh really...? That's not what THEY say.

Crunching Numbers

By Marilyn Penn

Aside from the monumental crush of people tragically killed or missing in Japan, there were some other off-putting numbers to consider in this week’s news. Let’s start with the man who killed a NYC cop while he was being apprehended in a domestic violence episode. George Villanueva has a record of 30 prior arrests, has been reported 20 times for domestic violence, has been imprisoned 3 times for burglary. What more is necessary to keep a man with this profile out of circulation?

Let’s move on to Ophadell Williams, the bus driver allegedly responsible for killing 15 people, seriously injuring 14 others - 6 in critical condition. Williams had also served time in prison for beating and stabbing a man to death during a fight; incredibly, he served only 2 years for this murder, later serving twice as long for stealing money from the Police Athletic league. Does this add up?

In Brooklyn, a high school student threw hydrochloric acid on another girl’s head in chemistry class, intending, by her admission, to burn out her eyes. The teacher’s quick actions and the dilution of the acid averted that nightmarish conclusion but the attacker was released on bail set at $7,500, a sum that should strike all of us as dangerously low for the nature of this crime. Had she been more successful, would bail have been rounded up to $10,000 - 5,000/per eye?

Moving from the violently criminal to the antiseptically criminal, we saw the salaries of hospital chiefs revealed in an article in the Times. In 2007, the chief executive of New York-Presbyterian earned 9.8 million dollars, of Bronx Lebanon 4.8 million, and a year later, the chief of Mt. Sinai earned 2.7 million while the head of North Shore-Long Island Jewish had to make do with a measly 2.4 million. If you’ve been a patient or visited one recently at any New York hospital, you know that the quality of care is not commensurate with these inflated compensations as most hospitals are both under-staffed and incompetently staffed. Preventable infections are rampant, bureaucracy is frustrating and user-unfriendly and all too often, getting discharged prematurely is the patient’s best hope for recovery. Adding insult to injury, these hospitals receive huge payments from taxpayer funded Medicaid but the administrators’ salaries are governed strictly by the hospital boards.

Finally, in the field of education, we learned that 1/3 of students who had been in programs for English As A Second Language from 1rst to 7th grades flunked the standard proficienty test administered by NY state. Astonishinly, 70% of the students in this program are born in the U.S.A. 70% of the students do not achieve proficienty in English at the end of 3 years, which is the recommended duration for this program of instruction. The annual cost for this exercise in futility is 250 million dollars for approximately 153,000 students. Do the math! What do the Dept of Education, the UFT and our billionaire mayor have to say about this disservice to our students and consummate waste of taxpayer’s money?

The one thing that all these numbers highlight is that you don’t have to be an accountant to recognize the abdication of accountability across the board in our city and state. By allowing these outrages to continue, we condone and effectuate the reward of ineptitude, lassitude and dereliction of duty. We are fiddling while our city burns.

Wisconsin or Venezuela?

Police stand watching as union thugs destroy recall petitions for Democrat senators. Hugo Chavez would be proud.

When sworn law enforcement officials willingly step aside to allow union hooligans to tear up recall petitions, we, as a nation of laws, have come to the edge of a dark precipice. So what do honorable citizens do when they cannot exercise their First Amendment right to "peaceably" assemble? They have a duty to come together and loudly and repeatedly demand protection from our long established government institutions. If that is not the case, the Constitutional Republic will have ceased to function, only to be replaced by mob rule. Saul Alinsky and his most famous protégée, Washington D.C.'s golf -happy community organizer, would be thrilled by such an outcome.

From 620 WTMJ we read about this petition drive to recall a Democratic State Senator.

The petition rally was originally scheduled at a local Merrill restaurant but was relocated after the proprietors received many phone calls and felt they needed to back out. The committee then set up in front of the Lincoln County Courthouse to offer citizens an opportunity to sign their names to the petition. Over 1,000 calls had been sent out the previous day notifying area residents of the petition rally.

Upon arrival, members of the recall committee were encircled by union protesters carrying signs and a leader with a mega phone who began chanting and ranting loudly. They packed in tightly around the petition collection table so as to prevent those attempting to sign from doing so. At one point, a pro union protester, pretending to be interested in signing the petition, wrote profanity across a partially collected petition form, than began ripping up the completed petitions that were in close proximity.

The policemen who were there, and who were standing in close proximity to these events as they unfolded, did nothing to assist those collecting the petitions as they were being destroyed, [emphasis added] despite such an action being a Felony under Wisconsin law. Police also did nothing to clear the walk way for citizens that wanted to sign the petitions. Recall Committee members received many phone calls the following day from Merill area citizens who stated that they showed up to sign the petition, but were too afraid to get out of their vehicles and approach the recall table.

Doesn't this sound more like Venezuela, than Wisconsin. And that is exactly what is happening; we are, inch by inch, being frog marched down the path of progressive collectivism by the unholy troika of the leftist MSM, the Obama Administration and the public employee unions.

I'm not one to wave Old Glory, but that dark precipice is coming up damn fast. We must believe that the ghosts of Valley Forge, Shiloh, and Guadalcanal are angrily rising from their graves, screaming obscenities at our apathy, and demanding we stand with them once again to defend what is right and just for America.

The Neighborhood Mosque...

March 17, 2011 Lee DeCovnick

My son tore an ACL skiing six days before winter term classes began at an East Coast university. Since missing a semester was not an option and he could not climb the 45 steps up to his apartment, we flew back to school and checked into a residence hotel five miles from campus. Each day I drove him to class since he was on crutches. This left me a lot of free time at the hotel, and I became very friendly with the staff that was all black. After the second week, they began to trust me enough to talk politics and life.
Doug is a cheerful 23-year-old man who cleaned rooms and cooked breakfast at the hotel. He only had time for one JC class a semester, since he worked two jobs to support his mother. Here is his story, just as I was told, no embellishments.
In Doug's neighborhood, the mosques are on the constant lookout for seven to ten year old black boys. Doug often baby-sat Tom, who was a happy 8 year old that lived in the same apartment building as Doug and his mother. Last fall, Tom was invited to play with some mosque kids at the park. Three days later, an elder from the local mosque came to apartment building to talk to Tom's mother. The mosque elder invited Tom to attend the mosque's school full time at no charge. The mosque had also found a better job for Tom's mother. The new job, working in a Muslim food market as a cashier, paid $9,000 a year more than she was currently making.
So Tom dropped out of public school and took a bus to the nearby mosque early every morning, seven days a week. Tom soon changed his name to Omar, and was rarely seen on the streets of the neighborhood or at his mother's apartment.
Seven or eight months later, Doug ran into Omar and it was a "very nasty" meeting.
"You are an infidel, since I saw you go to the Baptist church with your mom," said Omar.
"That so Omar? So tell me, what else do they teach at your school?"
"I want to be a martyr for Allah, in Lebanon or Miami.
"Miami, Florida?"
"Yes, that's where many Zionists live."
Doug was shaken by these answers, but asked Omar what else he has been doing.
Omar replied, "I travel a lot, to other mosques in Ohio, Michigan and Virginia. We are delivering supplies, using a van full of young martyrs like me.
"What kind of supplies?"
"I don't know, but they are very heavy boxes. We hide the boxes under the seats".
Omar turned and walked away. Doug was very upset by the whole conversation, especially since Omar was once the sweet boy who loved to watch Saturday morning cartoons.
There is more than a culture war being fought in our urban cities. We have closed our eyes to a growing radical hatred that is infecting our children and many adults in the black community. Those who point to this danger are immediately labeled as racist, and then cheerfully slimed by the MSM. No matter, whether we close our eyes or focus our attention on this problem, concrete solutions are beyond the current capabilities of our social and political institutions.

Abdirizak Bihi at King Hearings

Abdirizak Bihi at King Hearings: "Extremists such as Hamas-linked CAIR and other Islamic organizations are 'kidnapping' our children" ... "We don't have a voice"

Abdirizak Bihi, Director of Somali Education and Social Advocacy Center, rails against Islamic supremacist organizations such as Hamas-linked CAIR and other Islamic organizations who have bullied, harassed and silenced moderate Muslims, saying that "we have no voice." Muslims who are not supremacists or extreme are systemically victimized by these supremacist groups (hat tip - Pamela Geller).

Pamela Geller notes that Abdirizak Bihi is the uncle of Burhan Hassan, 18, who was killed in June 2009, just one day before his class graduated from Roosevelt High School in Minneapolis. 20 Somali-Americans from Minnesota have been recruited by the Islamic jihadi group al-Shabaab to go overseas. Five of them, including Bihi's teenage nephew, who died while training and fighting in Somalia's bloody civil war. One died while killing others in a suicide attack.

QUINCY — MASSACHUSETTES

It was a routine call for Quincy police about two homeless men fighting. Hussain Al-Hussaini was arrested. The victim was taken to the hospital.

Then came the surprise. Readers commenting on a story about Wednesday's arrest on The Patriot Ledger's website noted that a man with the same name was mentioned prominently in a book about the deadly bombing of an Oklahoma City federal building in 1995.
By Thursday afternoon, police had contacted the FBI and spoken to the book's author.Jayna Davis, author of the 2004 book "Third Terrorist: The Middle East Connection to the Oklahoma City Bombing," said she asked a Quincy police detective if Hussain Al-Hussaini, the man police arrested, had a tattoo of an anchor with a snake wrapped around it. He did. Police sent her a photo of him.

"His age, his name, the picture, the mug shot – that's him," Davis told The Patriot Ledger via telephone after speaking with police. She said the anchor-and-snake tattoo was common among members of a branch of the Iraqi army under Saddam Hussein.

An FBI spokesman in Boston, Greg Comcowich, said Thursday night that a man named Hussain Al-Hussaini was "thoroughly investigated" in connection with the Oklahoma City bombing and "was found to not have any role whatsoever in the attack on the Murrah Federal Building in 1995."

Comcowich said the Hussain Al-Hussaini the FBI investigated had been seen with bomber Timothy McVeigh before the April 19, 1995, bombing, which killed 168 people.

"The investigation was closed and the FBI has no further interest in that individual," he said.Comcowich said he could not confirm whether the Hussain Al-Hussaini arrested in Quincy was the same Hussain Al-Hussaini investigated after the Murrah Building bombing.

The Al-Hussaini questioned by the FBI was never charged in connection with the bombing. McVeigh was executed for detonating the bomb in a truck he drove up to the federal building. Co-conspirator Terry Nichols is serving a lifetime prison sentence.

The Al-Hussaini investigated in the bombing sued Davis, a former television reporter, and Oklahoma station KFOR for a story that indirectly identified him as a potential bombing suspect dubbed "John Doe 2" by investigators. Al-Hussaini's lawyer at the time claimed he was singled out because he was an Arab, according to a 2002 report in The Wall Street Journal.

Al-Hussaini claimed defamation, invasion of privacy and emotional distress. His suit was dismissed by a federal judge before trial after the defendants' request for summary judgment. Al-Hussaini appealed the ruling but the decision was upheld.

Hussain Al-Hussaini, 45, was arrested around 7:30 a.m. Wednesday near 1250 Hancock St. and charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon. Police allege he slashed another homeless man's face with a beer bottle.

Police Detective James Lencki, who was working a construction detail nearby, spotted Al-Hussaini and arrested him after his description was broadcast.

He was arraigned in Quincy District Court later that morning, and held at the county jail in Dedham on $500 cash bail and an outstanding probation matter, said David Traub, spokesman for Norfolk County District Attorney Michael Morrissey.

Al-Hussaini was ordered to have no contact with the victim, a 37-year-old who was taken to Boston Medical Center, and to stay away from the Father Bill's homeless shelter in Quincy.

The Al-Hussaini arrested in Quincy had been arrested in the city in 2007 on a narcotics charge and in 2009 for open and gross lewdness, Traub said.

Quincy police Capt. John Dougan said Al-Hussaini is known to police and was first arrested in Quincy in 1996 on a charge of driving without a license. He told police his native country is Iraq.

Republican Congressman Peter King has strengthened his security in the wake of "hostile phone calls" and threats from overseas, as he is getting ready to chair a hearing on Islamic radicalization in the United States today.

The Congressman's hearing on this important issue, though much overdue, is perhaps the first step towards recognizing that Islam is the culprit, not radical Islam. Islam by its mere existence is radical. "There is no moderate or immoderate Islam. Islam is Islam and that's it," said Turkey's Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, and he's absolutely right. Decades ago Marshall McLuhan observed, "The medium is the message." As the print and electronic media penetrate more and more every aspect of life, their influence increases greatly in shaping views and the behavior of the public. The power of the media is a mixed blessing. On one hand, it can serve to expose injustices, wrongdoings, and flaws. On the other hand, it is able to propagate misinformation and outright disinformation. Manipulation and control of the media is of critical importance to the rule of totalitarian states. Free societies, although less subject to laundered information, are still at considerable risk of being selectively informed or misinformed outright. The overlords of the media can deceive the public more easily when political correctness is used as a subterfuge for the promotion of certain ideas.

A case in point is the media's portrayal of Islam, articulated by politicians and pundits -- the talking heads on television and radio, as well as the analysts who write for newspapers and magazines. Time and again we hear and read that Islam is a religion of peace, in spite of the fact that Islam has been a religion of violence from its inception to the present. This mantra, "Islam is a religion of peace" is repeated so often that it has become an indisputable statement of fact in the minds of many. Even a cursory examination of Islam's history and Islamic texts conclusively proves the exact opposite. Islam was, and continues to be, a movement of unbridled violence.

Former President George W. Bush along with President Obama on several occasions have repeated the mantra and attributed the horrific violence committed under the banner of Islam to a small band of extremists. Both Presidents' assertion is either based on ignorance of the facts about Islam or their attempt at political correctness. Perhaps President Bush's reticence to speak about the true nature of Islam was due to his desire to avoid inflaming the already charged feelings by many about Islam and President Obama's appeasing the Muslim world is another story. In any event, truth is sacrificed and the public continues to cling to the false notion that Islam is a peaceful religion. People who dare to disclose the true nature of Islam run the risk of being castigated as bigots and hatemongers.

Meanwhile the courageous Congressman Peter King said: 'I'm not going to give in to political correctness.' Surrounded by a noticeably heavier security presence, Congressman King told CBS 2: "I'm getting a lot of hostile phone calls now, but the main threats I'm getting are from overseas." What more one can expect from "the religion peace?"

The pundits, the analysts and the politicians are doing a great disservice to the public, each segment for its own expedient reasons, by parroting the mantra regarding the peaceful nature of Islam. As a matter of fact, the so-called small band of Islamic extremists is the true face of Islam. Admittedly, from time to time and place to place, Muslims have shown a degree of tolerance for non-Muslims. This tolerance dates back to the very early years of Muhammad himself. Early on Muhammad was meek and proclaimed, "For you, your religion, and for me, my religion." This assertion lasted but a few years until Muhammad's movement gathered strength and Islam became the only alternative to death or heavy taxation. The imposition of 'jizya' was a clever ploy for filling the Islamic coffer to support its armies and to finance its further conquests.

The liberal media and pundits engage in willful misinformation and deception when it suits them. Terms such as "Political Islam," or "Radical Islam," for instance, are contributions of this group. These terms do not even exist in the native parlance of Islam, simply because they are redundant. Islam, by its very nature and according to its charter -- the Quran -- is a radical political movement. It is the liberal media and politicians who sanitize Islam and misguide the populace by saying that "real Islam" constitutes the main body of the religion; and, that this main body is non-political and moderate.

Regrettably, a large segment of the population goes along with these nonsensical euphemisms depicting Islam because it prefers to believe them. It is less threatening to believe that only a hijacked small segment of Islam is radical or politically driven and that the main body of Islam is indeed moderate and non-political.

We must recognize that Islam is political to the core. In Islam the mosque and State are one and the same -- the mosque is the State. This arrangement goes back to the days of Muhammad himself. Islam is also radical in the extreme. Even "moderate" Islam is radical in its beliefs as well as its deeds. Muslims believe that all non-Muslims, bar none, are hellfire bound and well deserve being maltreated compared to believers.

While I salute Congressman Peter King for having the courage to discuss the issue of Islamic radicalization in the U.S, I warn my fellow Americans: remain a spectator at your own peril. It is imperative that you take a stand and do your part in pointing out that Islam is the culprit and do all you can to prevent the Islamic fire from devouring our civilized way of life and our republic.

Was Rep. Ellison’s Tearful Testimony Entirely True?

Posted on March 10, 2011 at 11:01pm
by Meredith Jessup

During his early morning testimony Thursday, Rep. Keith Ellison, D-Minn., recited the tragic story of 23-year-old Mohammed Salman Hamdani, a brave first responder and New York City Police cadet who rushed to aid his fellow countrymen as the Twin Towers burned on September 11, 2001.

Breaking into tears, Ellison decried “some people”’ who “tried to smear [Hamdani's] character solely because of his Islamic faith.”Some people spread false rumors and speculated that he was in league with the attackers only because he was Muslim. It was only when his remains were identified that these lies were fully exposed. Mohammed Salman Hamdani was a fellow American who gave his life for other Americans. His life should not be defined as a member of an ethnic group or a member of a religion, but as an American who gave everything for his fellow citizens.

Ellison is right: Hamdani died a hero and should be remembered as such. But in using Hamdani‘s story to make a statement condemning Thursday’s hearings on Muslim radicalization, National Review’s Matthew Shaffer points out how Ellison only viewed him as a political prop.

While Ellison expressed disgust over “rumors” about Hamdani being associated with terrorists following 9/11, these are the facts...

It is easy to export the outward symbols of democracy — constitutions, elections, parliaments, and the like — but you cannot export the centuries of experience and development that made those institutions work.

Is Democracy Viable?

Mar. 2, 2011
Thomas Sowell

We cannot take liberty for granted — even here.

Those who see hope in the Middle East uprisings seem to assume that they will lead in the direction of freedom or democracy. There is already talk about the “liberation” of Egypt, even though the biggest change in that country is that a one-man dictatorship has been replaced by a military dictatorship that has suspended the constitution.

Perhaps the military dictatorship will be temporary, as its leaders say, but we have heard that song before. What we have also heard, too many times before, is the assumption that getting rid of an undemocratic government means that it will be replaced by a freer and better government...
